INITIAL INSTALLATION
- Remove existing wheel bolt and store securely. [Fig. 1]
- Tighten the adapter wheel bolt (4a: Taper fit / 4b: Ball fit)* using the socket wrench (6). [Fig. 2] Maximum value for tightening torque: 110 Nm
-
Observe the specifications of the rim / trailer manufacturer.
** Comparison with original wheel bolt-
Manually screw adjustment bolt (2) onto adapter wheel bolt. [Fig. 3]
-
Place receiver (1) on the adjustment bolt. [Fig. 4]
-
Measure distance between receiver and rim and record value X. [Fig. 5]
-
Loosen locking screw with Allen key (5). Adjust adjustment bolt (2) with Allen key (10) by turning by the noted value X. Secure the adjustment with locking screw. [Fig. 6] NOTICE! Adjustment bolts must not exceed 80 mm !
-
Measure the distance again. [Fig. 7] – If the value is less than 1 mm, the distance has been adjusted correctly.
– If value is greater than 1 mm, adjust the adjustment bolt (2) again. -
Attach „Remove before Drive“ warning notice (9) to the handle of the towbar or to the handbrake lever of the trailer/caravan. [Fig. 8]
-
MOUNTING / OPERATION
- Manually screw adjustment bolt (2) onto adapter wheel bolt. [Fig. 9]
- Insert locking rod (3) into receiver (1) and approximately adjust the locking rod position. [Fig. 10]
- Place the receiver with locking rod on the adjustment bolt and position the locking rod between the rims. [Fig. 11] For best protection, observe the recommended mounting position. [Fig. 13]
- Lock AL-KO PROSAFE [Fig. 12]:
Turn the key clockwise, then press into the lock and turn anti-clockwise. Remove the key.

NOTICE!
Property damage
- Remove AL-KO PROSAFE before commencing a journey.
- Always unscrew the adjustment bolt (2) and store it securely before starting the journey [Fig. 14].
MAINTENANCE
- Check torque of the adapter wheel bolt (4) after 20-100 km.
- Clean the threaded rod of adjustment bolt (2) every six months and treat with universal grease. [Fig. 9]
- Treat sliding surfaces of the lock barrel with thin oil every 6 months. [Fig. 12]
- After difficult disassembly of the adjustment bolt (2), check the torque of the adapter wheel bolt (4).
Replacement parts are safety parts!
For the installation of replacement parts into our products, we recommend the
use of original AL-KO parts, or of parts that we have expressly approved for
installation. For the clear identification of replacement parts, our service
