Product Usage Instructions

1. Precautions

  1. Do not drop the thermometer or subject it to sudden
    impacts.

  2. Do not bend or bite the tip of the thermometer.

  3. Keep the thermometer out of children’s reach.

  4. Thermometers with a damaged outer casing must not be used (risk
    of injury).

  5. Children should be attended by an adult during the entire
    temperature recording process.

  6. The measuring fluid Galinstan must not be brought into contact
    with precious or light metals.

  7. When measuring, take necessary care to avoid any danger of
    injury.

  8. Use of this thermometer is not intended as a substitute for
    visiting your doctor.

2. How to Use

The capillary of the thermometer shows the measured body
temperature on the temperature scale. The temperature can be read
off by rotating the thermometer gently to and fro. After measuring,
the liquid must be returned to the bottom of the scale. Hold the
thermometer close to the upper end and shake it with 15 to 20 rapid
wrist movements.

3. Cleaning Instructions

The thermometer has a hermetically sealed, hygienic glass casing
and can be disinfected without restriction. Clean the glass
thermometer before and after use with cold soapy water. Disinfect
using alcohol-soaked cotton wool or cloth. If the thermometer
breaks, clean spilled liquid using soapy water and dispose of
broken pieces as household waste.

4. Warranty

The manufacturer grants an unlimited guarantee for the
functionality and accuracy of this thermometer (except in case of
glass breakage). Damage due to improper treatment is not covered by
the warranty. No recalibration is necessary.

5. Easy Flip Instructions

The easy flip feature makes it easier to return the measuring
liquid of your Geratherm classic thermometer with less effort when
shaking down.

  1. Position the thermometer in the easy flip.

  2. Ensure the thermometer is secured in the two brackets.

  3. Hold the handle of the easy flip between your thumb and index
    finger.

  4. Shake the thermometer with short sharp movements back and
    forth.

GALINSTAN -A N E W NON-TOXIC MEASURING FLUID – ECOFRIENDLY The mercury-free thermometer, Geratherm· classic, has been developed by Geratherm Mec:lical AG and contains a patented liquid alloy consisting of galliurn, indiurn and tin —called Galinstan. Galinstan is completely non-toxic and environment-friendly.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 1. Before taking the patient’s temperature, check whether the column of liquid is below 36 ·c. 2. Clean the glass thermorneter before and after each use. In doing so, please pay attention to the “Notes on Cleaning” below. 3. Position the thermometer on the body according to the method of measurement to be used {axillary, rectal or oral). 4. After about 4 rninutes the thermorneter will have reached the body temperature. The measuring fluid in the measurement
capillary of the thermometer shows the measured body temperature on the temperature scale. The temperature can be read off by rotating the thermometer gently to and fro. 5. After measuring, the liquid must be returned to the bottom of the scale. To do this, hold the thermometer as close as possible to the upper end and shake it with 15 to 20 rapid wrist movernents.

RELIABLE METHODS TO MEASURE TEMPERATURE ORAL USE – measurement time: min. 4 minutes, normal temperature: approx. 37 ·c Doctors prefer oral measurement. lt provides fast and accurate results. Place the thermometer bulb {probe) in one of the two heat pockets to the left or right side of the tongue.
RECTAL USE – measuremant time: min. 4 minutes, normal temparature: approx. 37.6 ·c Rectal measurement is preferred in the case of children. Insert the thermorneter bulb {probe) into the anus (approx. 2 cm). You rnay use a little skin cream or baby oil on the end of the vessel. You rnay use a probe cover for the thermometer. Insert thermometer into the probe cover. Lubricate the probe cover with a water soluble jelly for easier insertion. Do not use petroleurn jelly. Insert tip of probe no more than 2 cm into rectum.

AXILLARY USE – maasurement time: min. 4 minutes, normal temperature: approx. 36.7 °C The axillary measurement method provides less accurate measurements than oral and rectal measurement. Wipe armpit with a dry towel. Place probe in the patient’s armpit and keep the patient’s arm pressed firmly against their side.
NOTES ON CLEANING The thermometer has a hermetically sealed, hygienic glass casing and can be disinfected without restriction.

Cold soapy water can be used to clean the glass thermometer before and after use. Disinfect the thermometer using a piece of cotton “vVOol or cloth that has been soaked in alcohol, or dip the thermometer in a disinfectant solution (exposure/immersion time as specified by the disinfectant manufacturer). lf the thermometer breaks, any spilled liquid can be removed using a brush, tissue or cloth dampenec:I in soapy water. The broken pieces may be disposec:I of as household waste.

The easy flip makes it easier to lead back the measuring liquid of your Greatherm classic thermometer by considerably less effort when shaking down.
1. Position the thermometer in the easy flip. 2. Make sure that the thermometer is properly secured in the two brackets. 3. Keep the handle of the easy flip between your thumb and index finger. 4. Now, shake the thermometer with short sharp movements back and
forth until the liquid is reduced below 36 ° C. (See Figure)
