Product Usage Instructions

Using the Tapping Machine (TM1100)

1. Secure the pipe in place using appropriate clamps.

2. Select the correct drill tap for the material being worked
   on.

3. Apply tapping compound if necessary for lubrication.

4. Start drilling with steady pressure until the desired hole is
   created.

Using the Drilling Machine (DM2100)

1. Select the appropriate drill bit or hole cutter based on the
   material to be drilled.

2. Set up the machine on a stable surface and ensure proper
   alignment with the drilling area.

3. If using a power unit, connect it according to the
   manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Begin drilling at a moderate speed to avoid overheating the

DIRECT TAPPING MACHINE
Drill and tap water mains while under pressure, then install 3/4” or 1” corporation stops in a 2-step operation. Covers a range of 4” – 48” cast or ductile iron and C900 PVC with the use of saddles and chain extensions (saddles sold separate). TM1100 tapping machine features a flip clamp feed system. Anodized and epoxy-painted aluminum frames provide a lightweight yet sturdy machine for tough in-ditch applications. The swing valve allows easy change-out from drill tap to corporation insertion tool without main shutdown.

DM2100

DRILLING

MACHINES

Drill through the pipe wall of cast iron, ductile iron, C900 PVC and PE water mains via the corporation stop inserted into the service saddle while under pressure. Suited for 3/4″ ­ 2″ for NPT, 110 Compression, AWWA and BSPT specs. DM Series drilling machines have a quick clamp feed mechanism requiring little adjustment. These machines are more compact for field use, thus requiring less clearance than other models.

Drills through 3/4″ – 2″ pressurized ductile iron, cast iron, PVC or PE Powered by either drill or manually. The preferred manual drilling tool for PVC taps.
CARBIDE-TIPPED HOLE CUTTERS
Used with a hole saw adapter, these are black oxide coated for corrosion resistance.
D SERIES DRILL BITS
Spiral drills of strong, high speed steel are heat-treated for longer life and black oxide coated for corrosion resistance.

HEAVY DUTY CARBIDE -TIPPED HOLE CUTTERS
Provide more taps into mains than standard hole saws. Thicker walls, bigger carbides and high-temperature brazing help saws withstand many cuts. Large slot for easy coupon removal.

PVC/PE SHELL CUTTERS
Cut through service saddles on PVC or PE. Retains the coupon by design.

COMBINATION
TAPPING & DRILLING MACHINES
The CDTM machine kits contain the necessary components to assemble a tapping or drilling machine. The CDTM1100 is a TM1100 with components for converting to a DM1100. The CDTM2100 is a TM1100 with components for converting to a DM2100. It utilizes REED Drill Taps and REED D Series Drill Bits, Hole Saws or Shell Cutters. Accessories (shown on pages 2-3) must be purchased separately.
