Before first use of Your Pedestal Fan

Assembling Your Pedestal Fan – Fitting the Base (15)

  1. Attach the Stand (6) to the Base (15) as follows: Place the Weight (16) and Clamping Washer (17) on the underside of the Base (15) as shown left.
    Thread the L – Shaped Screw (18) through the assembly and into the thread in the Stand (6). Tighten firmly but do not overtighten.

  2. Place the stand onto its Base (15) and attach the Motor Housing (9) to the top of the Stand (6) as follows:

  3. Remove all the screws, etc. (7, 8, 19 & 20) from the motor housing bracket as shown right:

  4. Hold the Motor Housing (9) and carefully place it on top of the Stand (6) such that the holes in the motor bracket align with the holes in the Stand (6).

  5. Thread the Pivot Bolt (20) through the motor bracket and screw in the Locking Screw (19) into the hole in the motor bracket but do not fully tighten.

  6. Fit the Pivot Screw (7) onto the end of the Pivot Bolt (20) and screw in the Tilt Screw (8). Hold the Motor Housing (9) upright and tighten the Pivot Screw (7) and the Tilt Screw (8).

Fitting the Fan Guard and Fan Blade

  1. Remove any protective sleeving (if fitted) from the Motor Spindle (12) and discard responsibly.
  2. Remove the four screws from the front of the Motor Housing (9).
  3. Attach the Rear Guard (4) to the Motor Housing (9) using the four screws removed. Ensure the carry handle on the Rear Guard (4) is uppermost.
  4. Place the Fan Blade (3) over the Motor Spindle (12) ensuring that the spline in the motor spindle aligns with the notch (arrowed left) in the fan blade as it is pushed onto the spindle.
  5. Screw on the Fan Blade Retaining Nut (13 – arrowed right) and tighten.NB the Fan Blade Retaining Nut (13) is reverse threaded, i.e. it screws on anticlockwise.
  6. Remove the Front Guard Nut & Screw (5 & 2) from the Front Guard (1).
  7. Turn the Guard Clips (14) around the outside edge of the Front Guard (1) outwards.
  8. Hang the Front Guard (1) by its hook (arrowed right) over the top of the Rear Guard (4).
  9. Bring the Front Guard (1) down to meet the Rear Guard (4) and push the Guard Clips (14) inwards until the Front Guard (1) is fastened to the Rear Guard (4).
  10. Finally fit the Guard Nut and Screw (5 & 2) through the holes in the bottom edge of the guard and tighten with a suitable pozidrive screwdriver (not supplied).
    NB this nut and screw must be fitted so that the guard cannot be removed accidentally.

Using Your Pedestal Fan – Adjusting the Tilt Angle

Place the fan in the desired position and ensure that it is vertical and stable. The fan guard can be tilted up and down to alter the direction of the airflow. To do this, slacken the Pivot Screw (7) and the Tilt Screw (8). Set the position of the fan and then tighten the two knobs (7 & 8) NB do not adjust the fan whilst connected to the mains. Using Your Pedestal Fan – Adjusting the Fan Height

  • Before adjusting the height, hold the Motor Housing (9) to prevent it   dropping down.
  • Loosen the height locking screw (a – left) and raise or lower the height of the fan to the desired position and retighten the screw.
  • NB do not adjust the fan whilst connected to the mains.

Setting the Fan Speed

To operate the fan, ensure that the On/Off/Speed Control (10) is in the ‘O’ position.

  • Insert the mains plug into the nearest socket.
  • Rotate the On/Off/Speed Control (10) as follows:

  • Return the control to the 0 position to switch the fan off.

Oscillation Mode

  • Press the Oscillation Control (11) down to enable the fan to oscillate from side to side.
  • Pull the control up to stop the fan   oscillating.

Care and Maintenance

Ensure that the fan is switched off and it is not connected to the mains supply before cleaning. Wipe the fan clean with a clean, soft damp cloth. Do not immerse the fan or its cord in water or any other liquid.

Non-Rewireable Mains Plug

If your appliance is supplied with a non-rewireable plug fitted to the mains lead and should the fuse needed replacing, you must use an ASTA approved one (conforming to BS 1362 of the same rating). Never use a plug with the fuse cover missing. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

If you need to remove the plug -DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS- and then cut it off the mains lead and immediately dispose of it safely. Never attempt to reuse the plug or insert it into a socket outlet as there is a danger of electric shock.
