Operating Instructions
Wi-Fi ball valve drive
Item no: 2446222
Intended use
The product is an electric valve drive. Install the product on or next to a
lever valve and control the valve via the On/Off button or Wi-Fi and mobile
app.
The release mechanism allows you to control the valve manually in case of a
power failure.
Installation and operation are restricted by the following:
- Outer valve or pipe diameter: min. 12.7 mm (½”), max. 31.75 mm (1¼”)
- Force required to open the valve (Break-To-Open torque): max. 5.88 Nm
- Force required to close the valve (End-To-Close torque): max. 5.88 Nm
The product is designed for private and commercial use.
In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the
Employer’s Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and
Operating Materials are to be observed.
The product can be used in schools and training centres. The use must be
supervised by trained personnel.
The product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors.
Contact with moisture must be avoided under all circumstances.
If you use the product for purposes other than those described, the product
may be damaged.
Improper use can result in short circuits, fires, electric shocks or other
hazards.
The product complies with the statutory national and European requirements.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify the
product.
Read the operating instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Make
this product available to third parties only together with the operating
instructions.

Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information. 5.1 General
- The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.
- If you have questions which remain unanswered by this information product, contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
- Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an authorised repair centre.
5.2 Handling
- Handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.
5.3 Operating environment
- Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
- Protect the appliance from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
- Protect the product from high humidity and moisture.
- Protect the product from direct sunlight.
- Never operate the product in direct proximity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields or transmitter aerials or HF generators. Doing so can prevent the product from functioning properly.
5.4 Operation
- Moving parts can trap and squeeze body parts. Secure the area around moving parts mechanically to prevent access.
- Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the appliance.
- If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
– is visibly damaged,
– is no longer working properly,
– has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
– has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
5.5 Power adapter
Do not tamper with power supply components. Risk of death by electric shock!

Always ensure proper connection.

Never use damaged power supply components.

Do not modify power supply components.

Connect the appliance to a wall socket that can be accessed easily.

As power supply, only use the supplied mains adaptor.

Only connect the power adaptor to a normal mains socket connected to the public supply. Before plugging in the power adaptor, check whether the voltage stated on the power adaptor complies with the voltage of your electricity supplier.

Never connect or disconnect power adaptors if your hands are wet.

Never unplug the power adaptor from the mains socket by pulling on the cable; always use the grips on the plug.

For safety reasons, disconnect the power adaptor from the mains socket during storms.

Do not touch the power adapter if there are any signs of damage, as this may cause a fatal electric shock! Take the following steps:
– Switch off the mains voltage to the socket containing the power adapter (switch off the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse, and then switch off the corresponding RCD protective switch).
– Unplug the power adapter from the mains socket.
– Use a new power adapter of the same design. Do not use the damaged adapter again. -
Ensure that cables are not pinched, kinked or damaged by sharp edges.

Always lay cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. This poses a risk of injury.

How it works
To operate the product, you make use of the following components and features:

On/Off button
With the on/off button on the product you can open and close the valve. -
Mobile app
With the mobile app, you remotely close and open the valve. The product must be connected to a Wi-Fi network to receive remote instructions. -
Gear release mechanism for emergency use
In case of a power failure, you can use the gear release mechanism to open and close the valve manually. -
Default restart status
The default restart status defines if the valve opens or closes when power is re-established after a power failure. You set the default restart status in the mobile app.
Installation
8.1 Installing
To install the product, clamp it onto the valve or the pipe that is connected
to the valve.

PRECONDITIONS:
√ Outer diameter of the lever valve or pipe: min. 12.7 mm (½”), max. 31.75 mm
(1¼”)
√ Force required to open the valve (Break-To-Open torque): max. 5.88 Nm
√ Force required to close the valve (End-To-Close torque): max. 5.88 Nm
- Align the lever (A) with the valve lever (B). Pull the ring of the gear release mechanism and move the lever into the open or closed position (see installation image).
- Use the pipe clamp (E) and install the product on the valve (D) or pipe. Because the pipe clamp absorbs most of the force, make sure to firmly secure it.
- Adjust the stoppers (C) to fine adjust the opening and closing points of the valve.
8.2 Connecting to power
To operate the product, connect it to the mains supply via the power adaptor.
WARNING
Motor runs when connecting to power.
Moving parts can trap and squeeze body parts.
- Keep body parts away when connecting power.
- Connect the power adapter cable to the power supply cable of the product.
- Connect the power adapter to suitable mains socket.
→ The motor will start and the valve will open or close depending on the factory settings.
→ The product is ready for operation.
Manual operation
Use the On/Off button on the product to operate the product manually.
- Push the On/Off button to open or close the valve.
→ (If the valve is open) the indicator light on the product is on.
Note:
In normal operation, the valve is always in one of two states: fully closed or
fully open.
App operation
After adding the product to the mobile app and connecting it to the Wi-Fi network, you can use the app to remotely control the product.
10.1 Installing the mobile app
Install the TUYA mobile app on your mobile device to operate and control the
product.
- Download the mobile app “Smart Life – Smart Living” from the Google App Store or the Apple App Store.
- Set up a TUYA account.
10.2 Adding product to mobile app
For mobile app control, you must add the product to the app and connect it to
a suitable Wi-Fi network.
Important:
The product can only be connected to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
PRECONDITIONS:
√ The TUYA mobile app “Smart Life – Smart Living” is installed on your mobile
device.
√ The product is within the range of the Wi-Fi network.
- On your mobile device, activate Wi-Fi.
- Connect your mobile device to the Wi-Fi network to which you intend to connect the product.
- On the product, hold down the On/Off button until the motor starts to move.
WARNING! Keep body parts away from moving parts.
→ The indicator light flashes (if the valve is in the open position, the flashing is weak).
4. Open the mobile app.
5. Tap on + to add a new product.
6. Tap on Auto Scan to find the new product.
7. Wait for the auto scan function to list the product.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the product.
→ You have added the product to the mobile app.
→ You have connected the product to the Wi-Fi network.
10.3 Operating and controlling
Use the mobile app to remotely operate and control the product.
Opening and closing the valve
- On the screen Home, touch the On/Off button to open and close the valve.
→ (If the valve is open) the On/Off button is green.
→ (If the valve is open) the indicator light on the product is on.
Note:
In normal operation, the valve is always in one of two states: fully closed or
fully open.
Setting the default restart status
The default restart status defines if the valve opens or closes when power is
re-established after a power failure.
- Open Setting.
- Set the default restart status: close (valve closes), open (valve opens).
- Confirm the settings.
Emergency operation
During a power failure the valve cannot be opened or closed. Release the gear by the gear release mechanism and open and close the valve manually.
WARNING
Motor runs if gear is released with power supplied.
Moving parts can trap and squeeze body parts.
- Disconnect power before releasing the gear.
- Disconnect the power supply. In case power is re-established the motor will not run.
- Pull the ring on the gear release mechanism to release the motor.
- Open or close the valve manually.
- Reconnect the power supply.
Important:
When the power supply is re-established, the valve will open or close
according to the Restart status setting in the mobile app.
Cleaning and care
Important:
– Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical
solutions.
They damage the housing and can cause the product to malfunction.
– Do not immerse the product in water.
- Disconnect the product from the power supply.
- Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in
accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection
of the environment.
