Product Usage Instructions

Venting

For 1-pipe operation, vent the pump on the first-time starting via vent port M (refer to fig. 2). For 2-pipe operation, the pump vents automatically through the return line.

Pressure Settings

Refer to fig. 3for pressure setting of an RSH pump. The maximum pressure is dependent on the pressure range.

Installation

Install a prefilter as per current rules/practice. Ensure proper venting and connection according to the setup requirements.

Media Compatibility

The pump is designed for operation with mineral-based fuel oils\ or media with equivalent or higher classification.

Accessories

A separate flange with four screws can be supplied for mounting on the pump’s neck in the RSH series. Additional accessories are available for specific needs, such as a replacement pressure setting spring with the correct pressure range.

FAQ

  • Q: What types of oil can be used with the RSH oil pump?
    • A: The RSH pump is suitable for use with standard fuel gas oil and bio-oil (FAME).
  • Q: How should I vent the pump during installation?
    • A: For 1-pipe operation, vent the pump on the first-time starting via vent port M. For 2-pipe operation, the pump vents automatically through the return line.
  • Q: What is the direction of rotation for the RSH pump?
    • A: The direction of rotation of a right-hand pump is clockwise, and a left-hand pump is counterclockwise when looking at the end of the shaft.

Connections

  • S = suction connection . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . G ¹⁄4

Note!

  • All connection surfaces are spotfaced for standard gaskets. RSH is supplied as a 1-pipe pump with bypass “G” open (fig. 4).
  • For 2-pipe operation, screw “A” supplied must be fitted in bypass “G” (fig. 5).
  • The pumps are self-priming for viscosities up to 20 mm2/s. For higher viscosities, the pump should be connected to positive feed pressure.
  • For 1-pipe operation with an underlying tank, the nozzle line should be connected to vent port “M”, with nozzle port “P” blanked off. In this case a shut-off valve must be installed in the nozzle line.

Direction of rotation

The direction of rotation of a righthand pump is clockwise, a lefthand pump is counterclockwise when looking on the end of the shaft.

Venting

  • On 1-pipe operation, the pump is vented on first-time starting via vent port “M” (fig. 2).
  • On 2-pipe operation, the pump is vented automatically through the return line.

Pressure settings

  • Fig. 3 shows the pressure setting of an RSH pump.
  • Max. pressure is dependent on the pressure range.

First-time starting

With light fuel oil, the burner must be started and the pump adjusted to the required pressure. With heavy fuel oil the setting must be on a minimum and the pump turned slowly until hot oil appears at the pressure measurement connection. The burner can then be started and the pump adjusted evenly up to the required operating pressure. The same method must be used after an operational stop when the oil has become partially or completely cold. After this adjustment has been made the pump will run under normal operating conditions.

Installation

A prefilter must be installed, in accordance with current rules/practice.

Media

The pump is specified for operation with mineral-based fuel oils, or media having a corresponding or higher classification.

Accessories

A separate flange with four screws for mounting on the neck of the pump can be supplied for the RSH series. Code no. 070-0211 The RSH can be used as a feed/transport pump after the pressure setting spring has been replaced. A replacement pressure setting spring with a range of 1-5 bar (x 102 kPa) together with a label giving the correct pressure range are obtainable under code number 070-0030.
