OVEN CAVITY
- Depending on your model, use the Steam Clean or Self-Clean cycle regularly to clean oven spills.
- Do not use oven cleaners.
- Food spills should be cleaned when the oven cools. At high temperatures, foods react with porcelain. Staining, etching, pitting, or faint white spots can result.
Cleaning Method:
Steam Clean or Self-Cleaning Cycle: See the “Self-Cleaning Cycle” or “Clean
Cycle” section first.
Self-Cleaning Cycle (on some models)
WARNING
Burn Hazard
- Do not touch the oven during the Self-Cleaning cycle.
- Keep children away from the oven during the Self-Cleaning cycle.
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in burns.
IMPORTANT : The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the Self-Cleaning cycle. Exposure to the fumes may result in the death of certain birds. Always move birds to another closed and well- ventilated room.
- Keep the kitchen well-ventilated during the Self-Cleaning cycle to help get rid of heat, odors, and smoke.
- Do not block the oven vent(s) during the Self-Cleaning cycle. Air must be able to move freely. Depending on your model, see the “Oven Vent” or “Oven Vents” section in the Quick Start Guide.
- Do not clean, rub, damage, or move the oven door gasket.
Prepare Range
- Remove the broiler pan, grid, cookware, and bakeware, all cooking utensils, oven racks, and aluminum foil, and, on some models, the temperature probe from the oven.
- Use a damp cloth to clean the inside door edge and the 11/2″ (3.8 cm) area around the inside oven cavity frame, being certain not to move or bend the gasket.
- Wipe out any loose soil to reduce smoke and avoid damage. At high temperatures, foods react with porcelain. Staining, etching, pitting, or faint white spots can result. This will not affect cooking performance.
- Remove plastic items from the cooktop because they may melt.
- Remove all items from the storage drawer.
How the Cycle Works
IMPORTANT: The heating and cooling of porcelain on steel in the oven may result in discoloring, loss of gloss, hairline cracks, and popping sounds.
- Before self-cleaning, make sure the door is completely closed or the door will not lock and the Self-Cleaning cycle will not begin.
- The Self-Cleaning cycle uses very high temperatures, burning soil to a powdery ash.
- Once the oven has completely cooled, remove the ash with a damp cloth. To avoid breaking the glass, do not apply a cool, damp cloth to the inner door glass before it has completely cooled.
- To stop the Self-Cleaning cycle at any time, press the Cancel keypad. If the temperature is too high, the oven door will remain locked, and “cool” and “(lock symbol) ” will be displayed. The cooling fan may continue to run.
- When the “DOOR LOCKED” indicator light shows in the display, the door of the oven cannot be opened. To avoid damage to the door, do not force the door open when the “DOOR LOCKED” indicator light is displayed.
Once the cleaning temperature has been reached, the electronic control
requires a 12-hour delay before another Self-Cleaning cycle can be started.
The oven light will not function during the Self-Cleaning cycle.
Electronic Oven Control with Adjustable Clean Time (on some models)
The Self-Cleaning cycle is time adjustable between 2 hours and 4 hours. Suggested clean times are 2 hours for light soil, 3 hours for medium soil, and 4 hours for heavy soil. The last 30 minutes of the cycle is for cooldown.
To Self-Clean:
-
Press SELF CLEAN.
-
Press the Temp/Time “+” or “-” keypad to enter the desired Self-Cleaning cycle time.
-
Press START.
The oven door will automatically lock. The DOOR LOCKED and CLEAN indicator lights will be displayed. The time remaining will also be displayed. -
When the self-clean cycle is complete and the oven cools, the DOOR LOCKED and CLEAN indicator lights will turn off.
-
When the oven is completely cooled, remove the ash with a damp cloth.
To exit the Self-Cleaning cycle before completed, press CANCEL. The door will unlock once the oven cools.
Steam Cleaning (on some models)
IMPORTANT: Do not use oven cleaners or any other additives with Steam
Clean.
The Steam Clean feature is designed for light oven cavity bottom cleaning. Use
the Steam Clean feature as soon as possible after spills occur. The longer a
spill sits and dries in the oven, the more difficult it may be to remove.
Allow the range to cool to room temperature before using the Steam Clean
feature. If your oven cavity is above 170°F (77°C), “HOT” will appear in the
display and the Steam Clean feature will not activate until it cools down.
- Remove all racks and accessories from the oven cavity.
- For best results, pour 12 oz (355 mL) of distilled or filtered water onto the oven bottom.
- The Steam Clean feature will take a total of 50 minutes. “End” will appear in the display at the end of the cycle.
IMPORTANT : Since the water in the oven bottom is hot, do not open the
oven door during the Steam Clean cycle.
Press the Cancel keypad at any time to end the cycle. The display will return
to the time of day.
Helpful Hints
- Once the Steam Clean cycle is complete, remove all remaining water and debris in the bottom of the oven with a sponge or cloth.
- Wipe any remaining moisture from the oven door interior, oven cavity interior sides, and cooktop.
- Use a soft brush or nylon scrubber to wipe the oven interior. This may help with more stubborn stains.
- If any soil remains, run a second Steam Clean cycle to help loosen debris for easier removal.
- Use the Steam Clean on small spills such as cheese or sauce from pizza or snacks, or drips from casseroles.
- Food spills containing sugar, proteins, or starches may require vigorous scrubbing to remove most of the debris.
- It is recommended to use distilled or filtered water, as tap water may leave mineral deposits on the oven bottom. Use a cloth soaked with vinegar or lemon juice to remove any mineral deposits that may be left after the Steam Clean cycle.
Griddle or Grill/Griddle (on some models)
*For WFGS7530R:**
To Use the Griddle Accessory:
- Locate the griddle over the center burner on the grates as shown. The locating feet on the bottom of the griddle will engage the grate tines to keep the griddle from sliding.
- Before each use, brush on a thin layer of cooking oil to keep food from sticking. Cooking sprays may leave a sticky residue on the griddle that is hard to remove.
- Preheat the griddle for 5 minutes. Preheating the griddle slowly will ensure even heat distribution and will avoid warping the griddle.
- For cooking, set the center burner to the medium setting for best performance.
NOTE : It is recommended to use a griddle on the center burner only.
Cleaning the Griddle:
For stuck-on food, use a mild scrubbing sponge or brush with a mild soap to
remove and rinse with water. Dry the remaining water to reduce the chance of
rusting.
*For MFGS8030R:**
To Use the Grill/Griddle Accessory:
- Locate the grill/griddle on the left side grate as shown. Depending on the food being cooked, the grill or griddle side can be used for cooking.
- Before each use, brush on a thin layer of cooking oil to keep food from sticking. Cooking sprays may leave a sticky residue on the grill/griddle that is hard to remove.
- For cooking on the left side of the cooktop – preheat the grill/griddle for 5 minutes with each Left Rear and Left Front burner on a High or Medium High setting. After preheating is complete, adjust the burner’s heat setting as necessary depending on the food being cooked.
- For cooking on the center of the cooktop – preheat the grill/griddle for 5-10 minutes on high. After preheating is complete, adjust the burner heat setting as necessary depending on the food being cooked.
NOTE : Do not use the grill/griddle on the cooktop during or immediately after running the oven cleaning cycle.
Cleaning the Grill/Griddle:
- The grill/griddle is cast iron and should be cleaned and maintained accordingly.
- The grill/griddle is pre-seasoned and ready to use. To prolong your seasoned grill/griddle, avoid using degreasing agents like dish soap or steel wool.? For stuck-on food, use a mild scrubbing sponge or brush to remove & rinse with water.
- Dry the remaining water to reduce the chance of rusting.
- If your seasoning coating on the grill/griddle wears off, re-season the grill/griddle as needed.
Oven Light
The oven light is a 40 W halogen bulb. Before replacing, make sure the oven and cooktop are cool and the control knobs are in the Off position.
To Replace:
- Disconnect power.

- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
IMPORTANT : The range must be electrically grounded by local codes and
ordinances, or in the absence of local codes, with the National Electrical
Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.1.
This range is equipped with an electronic ignition system that will not
operate if plugged into an outlet that is not properly polarized.
If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is recommended that a
qualified electrical installer determine that the ground path is adequate.
A copy of the above code standards can be obtained from:
- National Fire Protection Association
- 1 Batterymarch Park
- Quincy, MA 02169-7471

-
A 120 V, 60 Hz, AC only, 15 A fused, ground, and polarized electrical circuit is required. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is also recommended. It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only this range be provided.
-
Electronic ignition systems operate within wide voltage limits, but proper grounding and polarity are necessary. Check that the outlet provides 120 V power and is correctly grounded.
-
This gas range is not required to be plugged into a GFCI
(Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet. It is recommended that you do not plug an electric spark ignition gas range or any other major appliance into a GFCI wall outlet as it may cause the GFCI to trip during normal cycling. -
The performance of this range will not be affected if operated on a GFCI-protected circuit. However, occasional nuisance tripping of the GFCI breaker is possible due to the normal operating nature of electronic gas ranges.
-
The tech sheet and wiring diagram are located on the back of the range in a plastic bag.
NOTE : The metal chassis of the range must be grounded for the control panel to work. If the metal chassis of the range is not grounded, no keypads will operate. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the metal chassis of the range is grounded.
Gas Supply Requirements
WARNING: Explosion Hazard
- Use a new CSA International-approved gas supply line. Install a shut-off valve.
- Securely tighten all gas connections.
- If connected to propane, have a qualified person make sure the gas pressure does not exceed the 14″ (36 cm) water column.
- Examples of qualified personnel include licensed heating personnel, authorized gas company personnel, and authorized service personnel.
- Failure to do so can result in death, explosion, or fire.

Conversion must be done by a qualified service technician.
No attempt shall be made to convert the appliance from the gas specified on the model/serial/rating plate for use with a different gas without consulting the serving gas supplier. See the “Gas Conversions” section.
Gas Supply Line
- Provide a gas supply line of 3/4″ (1.9 cm) rigid pipe to the range location. A smaller size pipe on longer runs may result in insufficient gas supply. With Propane gas, piping or tubing size can be 1/2″ (1.3 cm) minimum. Usually, Propane gas suppliers determine the size and materials used in the system.
- NOTE: Pipe-joint compounds that resist the action of Propane gas must be used. Do not use TEFLON®† tape.
Flexible Metal Appliance Connector
- If local codes permit, a new CSA design-certified, 4 to 5 ft (122 to 152.4 cm) long, 1/2″ (13 mm) or 3/4″ (19 mm) I. D., A flexible metal appliance connector may be used for connecting the range to the gas supply line.
- A 1/2″ (13 mm) male pipe thread is needed for connection to the female pipe threads of the inlet to the appliance pressure regulator.
- Do not kink or damage the flexible metal tubing when moving the range.
Rigid pipe connection:
The rigid pipe connection requires a combination of pipe fittings to obtain an
in-line connection to the range. The rigid pipe must be level with the range
connection. All strains must be removed from the supply and fuel lines so the
range will be level and in line.
Must include a shut-off valve:
Install a manual gas line shut-off valve in an easily accessible location.
Do not block access to the shut-off valve. The valve is for turning on or
shutting off the gas to the cooktop.
- A. Gas supply line
- B. Shut-off valve “open” position
- C. To range
Gas Pressure Regulator
The gas pressure regulator supplied with this range must be used. The inlet
pressure to the regulator should be as follows for proper operation:
Natural Gas:
- Minimum pressure: 5″ (12.7 cm) WCP
- Maximum pressure: 14″ (35.5 cm) WCP
Propane Gas:
- Minimum pressure: 11″ (27.9 cm) WCP
- Maximum pressure: 14″ (35.5 cm) WCP
- Contact a local gas supplier if you are not sure about the inlet pressure.
Burner Input Requirements
Input ratings shown on the model/serial/rating plate are for elevations up to
2,000 ft (609.6 m).
For elevations above 2,000 ft (609.6 m), ratings are reduced at a rate of 4%
for each 1,000 ft (304.8 m) above sea level (not applicable for Canada).
Gas Supply Pressure Testing
Gas supply pressure for the testing regulator must be at least
1″ (2.5 cm) water column pressure above the manifold pressure shown on the
model/serial rating plate.
Line pressure testing above 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa) gauge [14″ (35.5 cm) WCP]
The range and its shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas supply
piping system during any pressure testing of that system at test pressures
over 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
Line pressure testing at 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa) gauge [14″ (35.5 cm) WCP] or
lower
The range must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its
manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping
system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa).
