Product Usage Instructions

Before You Begin:

Read the instructions carefully. Disconnect power before installation to avoid electrical shock hazards. Ensure all parts are replaced before operating to prevent injury or damage that could void the warranty.

Parts Required:

Single Coin Drop Model: VTA56SCDT

Money Box Model: VKAUNICBT (OWNER INSTALL ONLY)

Tools Needed:

  • 1/4 and 5/8 Sockets
  • T15 Security Torx with Driver and Wrench
  • Driver Extension
  • Flat Blade Screwdriver

Installation Steps:

1. Remove Connector Access Panel on the Appliance

– Remove the four T15 security torx screws from the user interface corners.

2. Prepare the Appliance Cover

  • Remove plastic caps from the appliance using a flat blade screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the surface.
  • Slide and remove the user interface, placing it on a protected surface.

3. Assemble the Coin Drop to the Coin Housing Kit

  • Place the coin drop model in the coin housing kit’s front opening.
  • Insert mounting rods through the top opening and tighten securely.

4. Install the Coin Housing Kit Assembly

  • Pass coin drop and switch wiring connectors through the back hole of the housing kit and connect them to the user interface.
  • Ensure connectors click into place; do not pull the harness excessively to avoid damage.

Installation Instructions

REMOVE CONNECTOR ACCESS PANEL ON THE APPLIANCE

  1. Remove the four T15 security torx screws located in the corners of the user interface
    NOTE: Before removing the user interface, place a towel on the appliance cover to provide a protected surface to lay it on.

  2. Remove the user interface by sliding it up and off. Lay it face down on the towel on the appliance cover

  3. Remove the access panel from the user interface by removing its 1/4″ hex head screw from the back of the user interface.

  4. After removing the access panel, replace the user interface and its four T15 security torx screws

PREPARE THE APPLIANCE COVER

  • Remove the four plastic caps from the top of the appliance using a flat blade screwdriver.

NOTE: Be careful not to scratch or chip the paint

ASSEMBLE THE COIN DROP TO THE COIN HOUSING KIT

  1. Place the coin drop model VTA56SCDT in the upper front opening of the coin housing kit.
  2. Insert the mounting rods through the coin housing kit top opening and hand tighten them into their mating holes.
  3. Use a 1/4” socket and rachet to tighten the mounting rods securely in place.

INSTALL THE COIN HOUSING KIT ASSEMBLY

  1. Pass the coin drop and switch wiring connectors through the hole in the back of the coin housing kit assembly and connect them to their mates in the user interface on the appliance. Make sure the connectors click into place and are securely connected.
    NOTE: Once the coin housing kit harness has been connected, do not pull it away from the control panel more than 2”. Possible damage to the harness could occur.

  2. Place the coin housing kit assembly into its mounting position by aligning its rear pins and bottom holes on the appliance.

  3. Attach the coin housing kit assembly to the top cover using the four 5/8″ hex head bolts:

    • Insert two screws in the back through the coin housing kit assembly opening and seat using a ratchet with extension and a 5/8” socket.
    • Insert two 5/8″ hex head bolts in the front through the coin housing kit flange and seat using a ratchet and a 5/8” socket.
      NOTE: Tighten 5/8″ hex head bolts to seating point and then apply an additional 1/2 turn. INSTALL THE COIN HOUSING KIT ASSEMBLY (CONTINUED)
  4. Place the coin housing kit access panel onto the coin housing kit assembly and lock it with its key.
    NOTE: Make sure to keep the key in a secure place.

  5. Place the coin box model VKAUNICBT (OWNER INSTALL ONLY) into the front bottom of the coin housing kit and lock it with its key. NOTE: Make sure to keep the key in a secure place.

    • Set the cost and time for each cycle – See the ADMINISTRATOR MODE section. After making desired settings, validate that they work correctly by selecting each cycle and making payments.

ADMINISTRATOR MODE – ENTERING/EXITING

TO ENTER ADMINISTRATOR MODE

  • The appliance must be turned off and all LEDs must be OFF to enter Administrator Mode. To turn the appliance off (exit standby), wait 4 minutes after it is powered on or after the last pad is touched.
  • To enter Administrator Mode, the following sequence must be followed in the described order.

NOTE: If any pad is pressed out of order, the sequence must be started over from the beginning.

  1. Remove the coin box from the coin housing kit.
  2. Press and hold the SOIL (washers) or TIME (dryers) and (START) pads for 10 seconds and then release.
  • Upon entering Administrator Mode, all LEDs and the display will be turned ON for approximately 1 second and then “cd” (Cost Definition) will be displayed (scrolling).

TO EXIT ADMINISTRATOR MODE

  • Press and hold the SOIL (washers) or TIME (dryers) and (START) pads for 10 seconds and then release.
    • You may exit Administrator Mode at any time during customization.
    • Non-saved changes to price or time will be discarded.
    • The appliance will return to standby after exit.

ADMINISTRATOR MODE – SETTINGS

COST DEFINITION – SET BASE CYCLE PRICE AND PRICE INCREMENTS (WASHER & DRYER)

  1. After entering Administrator Mode, press and release th e (START) pad to enter customization
    The appliance display should be clear and cycle LEDs should be turned ON.

  2. In order to define a base cycle price, select the desired cycle pad and set it.

    • Cycle LED should start BLINKING indicating that the cycle is being customized.

    • Display should show the current price for the cycle.
      NOTE: Factory default base price is set at “0”.

    • Hidden Pad 2 will increase price by $.25 USD each time it is pressed. (Maximum available price is $9.75.)

    • Hidden Pad 1 will decrease price by $.25 USD each time it is pressed. (Minimum available price is $0.00.)

  3. Press and hold the (START) pad for 3 seconds to save selected price.

  4. After saving the base price, display will show another price to define, which is options (SOIL level: light, medium and heavy). Display price is for light soil option, x2 medium soil option and x3 for heavy soil option. (The cycle LED should still be BLINKING).
    NOTE: Factory default increment price is set at “0”.

    • Hidden Pad 2 will increase price by $.25 USD each time it is pressed.

    • Hidden Pad 1 will decrease price by $.25 USD each time it is pressed.
      For example: COLORS program base price set by owner is $4.00 plus light soil option price of $.25, medium soil option price of $.50 and heavy soil option price of $.75.
      Therefore, total cycle price to show on display to user for COLORS program is as follows:

    • with light soil option = $4.25

    • with medium soil option = $4.50

    • with heavy soil option = $4.75

  5. Press and hold the (START) pad for 3 seconds to save selected price increment.

    • Once the base price and price increment (options) are defined, the washer or dryer cycle LED should turn OFF to indicate that the set is completed.
    • Repeat the steps for each cycle. Once all the cycles are defined, exit the Administrator Mode by pressing and holding the SOIL (washers) or
      TIME (dryers) and the (START) pads for 10 seconds and then release.
      NOTE: For dryers, the number of available time increments will be defined by the base price and the time increments price.

The base time and time increments can be modified for each cycle option (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW and NO HEAT).

  • Factory default cycle times and increments are set to the recommended performance. Any change in the factory default cycle times will be the responsibility of the owner.
  • The minimum setting time for cycles is 10 minutes (5 minutes heating time plus 5 minutes cool down time).
  • The maximum setting time for cycles is 90 minutes (85 minutes heating time plus 5 minutes cool down time).
  1.  After entering Administrator Mode, “cd” (Cost Definition) is displayed, press the TIME pad. “td” (Time Definition) will display. Press the (START) pad to select it.
    The appliance display should be clear and the cycle LEDs (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW and NO HEAT) should be turned ON.

  2. In order to define a base cycle time, select the desired cycle pad and set it:

    • The cycle LED should start BLINKING indicating that the base cycle time is being customized.
      NOTE: Factory default base cycle time is set at 50 minutes.

    • Display should show the base time for this cycle.

    • Hidden Pad 2 will increase base cycle time by 1 minute each time it is pressed.

    • Hidden Pad 1 will decrease base cycle time by 1 minute each time it is pressed

  3. Press and hold the (START) pad for 3 seconds to save selected time.

  4. Once the base cycle time is saved, the cycle time increment will be displayed. (The Cycle LED should still be BLINKING.)
    NOTE: Factory default cycle dry time is set at 10 minutes.

    • Hidden Pad 2 will increase cycle time increment by 1 minute each time it is pressed. (Maximum available temperature set time is 90 minutes.)
    • Hidden Pad 1 will decrease cycle time increment by 1 minute each time it is pressed.
  5. Press and hold the * (START) pad for 3 seconds to save selected time.

    • Once the cycle time increment is defined, the dryer cycle LED should turn OFF to indicate that the set is completed.

    • Repeat the steps for each cycle.
      For Example: MEDIUM heat base price set by owner is $2.50 plus base cycle time of 40 minutes

    • Plus cycle time increment 1 $3.00

    • Plus cycle time increment 2 $3.50

    • Plus cycle time increment 3 $4.00

    • NOTE: This example is based on a $0.50 time increment price. Depending on what this cost and time is when set by owner is what will show in display.

    • Once all the cycles are defined, exit Administrator Mode by pressing and holding TIME and the (START) pads for 10 seconds and then release.
      NOTE: The number of available time increments will be defined by the base price, the time increments price and the base cycle time.

IMPORTANT

Follow the below instructions completely to avoid drilling out coin box

  1. Record the key code for future reference (in case of a lost coin box key).
  2. In the event of a lost coin box key:
  3. Case A – Original key code is known, call Greenwald service line to buy a new key by providing the necessary information to verify owner identity.
  4. Case B – Key code is not known, DRILL OUT the coin box and order a new coin box/coin box key by calling GE Appliances Commercial Laundry Service.
