UNDERSTANDING

DISCRIMINATION

  • A metal detector is designed to do one thing and that is to locate buried metal. In some cases, you may want to search for all metal objects in the ground but for most treasure hunters, having the ability to select which targets to accept and which to reject is a necessity. The XS allows this to be done through its Discrimination circuits. On the center of the screen, there are five (5) segments. These represent groups of Target ID #’s; i.e., 1-20, 21-40, etc. that are either accepted (black) or rejected (clear). NOTE: The
  • The discrimination function is NOT available in the GOLD mode as it will accept all of the segments and is intended for applications such as electronic prospecting and archeological surveys where all metal targets can be desirable. The other two factory preset modes- PARK and FIELD – have some of the segments already eliminated and these will serve as the preferred modes for most searches.
  • To reject a specific segment that corresponds to a bothersome trash target in your search area, press the POWER touchpad momentarily and note which segment is now BLACK. If you want to reject that segment, touch the POWER touchpad and the segment will disappear. If you want to reject a different segment (or accept one that is already rejected), use the UP or DOWN touchpad to highlight the segment and then tap the POWER touchpad to either accept or reject When you are done, press the PINPOINT touchpad to return to the search screen.
  • Any changes made to the segments will remain even when the power is turned off. To restore segments that may have been rejected or accepted, use the process described above.

TARGET ID & INDICATION SEGMENTS
XS categorizes metal signals into different digits from 1 to 99 based on the conductivity range. The higher the conductivity the higher the digit you will get from the display. For better visual effect we use indication bars to indicate which area the metal fall into. For example, a US quarter or silver coin will be indicated as 84 together with the fifth segment. The detection and processing system will be affected by soil conditions and trashy metal items. Depending on the strength of the signal the detector indicates the depth of the target.
TONES
XS outputs a high tone and the middle tone depends on the target ID so you can use your ear to make quick decisions. Most experienced detectorists use this technics.
PROGRAMS

  • PARK Mode
Very stable, medium recovery speed, target for ancient or modem coins TIO range 40 – 99

  • FIELD Mode
Very sensitive, high recovery speed, target Gold rings, Jewelry items. TIO range 20 – 99

  • GOLD Mode
High recovery speed, ZERO discrimination, good for gold prospecting. TIO 1-99

FREQUENCY SHIFT
Users can shift the operational frequency slightly to avoid interference, particularly that generated by another detector nearby. To change the frequency, press and hold the ground balance button while simultaneously click the volume adjustment buttons.

DETECTING

SWING

  • Swing the coil ap prox 4c m above the ground. overlap the last swing to avoid missing any target.

XING

  • When you hear a confident high tone, press and hold the pinpoint button to locate the target precisely.

PINPOINTING

  • Use an Xpointer to help you find the target faster. Simply use the tip of the XPointer to “sniff” the target covered by dirt.

DIGGING

  • Use a Digger to dig out the soil. Try to keep the dig pattern as small as possible. Remember to cover it when you finish.

HEADPHONES & RECHARGE

  • Take off moisture and dust cover to access ports. Put it back to place to avoid damage by liquid or dirt.
  • It can be connected with a USB TYPE-C wired earphone or can be connected to a 3.5mm audio jack wired earphone through the included USBC to 3.5mm audio adapter. Set to low audio volume before wear your headphones to avoid hearing damage.\
  • Connect the provided USB-C cable to a wall charger with USB port. The battery indicator will stop flashing when fully charged. It takes around 4 hours to fully charge the detector.

PRODUCTS CARE

  • NOTICE! Do not twist the coil tail and connector to avoid wire damage.
  • NOTICE! Do not store the device where prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures can occur to avoid device damage.
  • NOTICE! Never use a hard or sharp object to operate the touchpad, or damage may result.
  • NOTICE! Avoid chemical cleaners, solvents, and insect repellents that can damage plastic components and finishes.
  • NOTICE! Secure the weather cap tightly to prevent damage to the USB port.
  • NOTICE! Even small amounts of sweat or moisture can cause corrosion of the electrical contacts when connected to a charger.

Clean the detector

Clean the detector

  • Wipe the device using a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution.
  • Wipe it dry. After cleaning, allow the device to dry completely.
  • Use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. If necessary, lightly dampen the cloth with water.
  • If using a dampened cloth, turn off the device and disconnect the device from power.
  • Gently wipe the screen with a cloth.

TROUBLESHOOTING

lf the solutions above do not address the issue you are experiencing, reset the XS to its factory settings. turn the detector off and then hold the POWER touch pad for 5 seconds when power on. All of the icons on the screen will illuminate indicating the detector has been reset.
