MANUAL
This is the T10S Quick Start Guide, which is designed to get you up and running with your new ADAM Audio T10S subwoofer as quickly as possible. To get the most out of your new ADAM Audio subwoofer, we recommend you read the complete user manual, which is available for download from our website: www .adam-audio.com/t10s/manual.
AMPLIFICATION AND POWER SUPPLY
The T10S subwoofer does not require external amplification, thanks to its built-in amplifier. Because the T10S automatically accepts AC mains voltages ranging from 100 V to 240 V, at 50 and 60 Hz, you don’t have to fuss with selecting a correct voltage switch setting for safe operation. No matter where you work in the world, just plug in and go!
AUDIO CONNECTIONS AND LEVEL SETTINGS
The subwoofer can be connected to both balanced and unbalanced analog signal
sources, such as mixing consoles or I/O boxes for DAWs.
Typically, the T10S subwoofer is an addition to a stereo monitoring system
with a stereo signal source and two active speakers. Here, the T10S is
connected as a link between the signal source and your speakers. On the rear
panel of your T10S, a two-channel setup of XLR and RCA connectors receives and
feeds balanced signals of +4 dBu and unbalanced
-10 dBV nominal input levels, respectively.
The integrated crossover manages the frequency range of the audio signal for subwoofer and monitors and should be set to 120 Hz to begin with. The phase switch should stay at the 0° factory setting for now. To begin using your T10S subwoofer, follow these simple steps:
- Before making any connections to your T10S, make sure the subwoofer’s Level control knob is set to its “Min” position and both connected monitors are powered off. Also make sure the signal source is turned off and its output level controls, if any, are turned down.
- If you’ll be sending balanced +4 dBu analog audio from your mixer, I/O box or other equipment to your T10S, use the subwoofers’ left and right channel XLR input connectors.
- If you’ll be sending unbalanced -10 dBV analog audio from your mixer, I/O box or other equipment to your T10S, use the subwoofers’ left and right channel RCA input connectors.
- Now, connect your monitors to the T10S outputs via either the male XLR or RCA output connectors for each left and right channel.
- After all signal connections are set up, turn on the equipment feeding them.
- Now, connect the T10S to the power grid using the provided power cord. The sub-woofer does not have a power switch and will power on instantly, entering standby mode that will be indicated by the front LED turning red.
- Switch on your monitors and set them to your usual level or nominal 0 volume mark.
- Set the output level controls, if any, on the equipment feeding your speaker system to their nominal level or to where you normally set them and play audio.
- Upon signal input, the T10S will go from standby mode [red LED, no output] to active mode [green LED].
- While playing audio, raise the level setting on your T10S to attain the low-end volume you desire. To optimize the system’s performance, please refer to the T10S’ manual for guidance on level, crossover and phase settings.
- Please note, that for optimum performance, it is suggested to play program containing low end signals through your T10S at a decent listening level for a total of at least eight hours before using them on a critical project.
- After 15 minutes with no signal incoming, the T10S will automatically enter standby mode again to reduce power consumption.
