S3H Protective Grill

Product Information: Protective Grill for ADAM Audio S3H

The Protective Grill for ADAM Audio S3H is an accessory that can be used to cover and protect the front of the S3H studio monitor. It is made from high- quality MDF and comes with adhesive damping pads, screws, washers, and an L-key hand tool for assembly. The grill features a rectangular solid area for logo placement at the bottom and spacers that interlock with the screw holes on the studio monitor to hold it in place.

Product Usage Instructions: Installing the Protective Grill

Before installing the protective grill, carefully read through the important safety instructions provided in the user manual and follow them.
Unpack all the contents of the delivery package and store the removed screws with the original packaging of your S Series studio monitor.
Prepare the protective grill by placing the front of the grill on a solid surface without spacers and removing yellow covers on the damping pads C. Firmly place them on the solid areas on the rear of the grill A, on the side with spacers.
To prepare the studio monitor, remove the identified screws with the L-key hand tool F by turning anti-clockwise to loosen them.
Position the grill A so that the spacers line up with the empty screw holes and hold it in place with one hand. Make sure that the grill is in the correct orientation with the rectangular solid area meant for logo placement at the bottom.
The grill is held in position by the spacers interlocking with the holes. The grill will only fit in the correct orientation.
The included Torx key is the only tool you will need to assemble the grill on your S Series studio monitor. You can use a manual wrench but please do not use an electric drill.
Store the spare screws, washers, and pads in case they are needed in the future.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Please read the following safety instructions before installing the protective grill. Keep these instructions for further reference. Please heed the warnings and follow the instructions. Please read the installation and safety instructions thoroughly.
Installation and assembly must be carried out according to this manual.
When transferring ownership or use of this product, this manual must be included.
Only use accessories and spare parts by ADAM Audio.
Observe all relevant regional, national and international regulations and guidelines when installing.
Remove all signal, USB and power cables before assembling the grill Do not be tempted to remove any screws other than those indicated in this manual.
Only authorized service personnel are permitted to carry out any work on other parts of the speaker. Tampering with any part of the speaker in ways not specifically described in these instructions or attempting to carry out any unauthorized modifications to the speaker will void the warranty.
Be careful not to damage the drivers with the Torx key and grill
Be very careful not to allow the hand tool, screws or the grill damage the tweeter as it emits a strong magnetic field and is highly sensitive to touch Be careful not to let go of any screws or the hand tool. The drivers emit a strong magnetic field! Always place the speaker upright on a solid surface when performing the assembly. Do not lie the speaker on its rear panel unless you have taken precautions to protect the rotary knob on the back of the speaker. Tip: Use the foam inlays of the original S Series speaker packaging for support. The gaps in the inlay will help you to protect the rotary knob on the back of the speaker. Tighten the screws firmly but be careful not to overwind the screws.

INSTALLING

Tips

Store the removed screws with the original packaging of your S Series studio monitor
The large solid area marks the bottom of the grill. Please use the correct orientation when assembling the grill to avoid scratches There are two spare screws, washers and pads each and a spare adhesive
ADAM Audio logo sticker if needed Despite being made from high quality MDF, the screw holes of the cabinet are exposed to mechanical wear.
Please keep the amount of times that you install and remove the grill to a minimum.

Prepare the protective grill

Unpack all included contents
Place the front of the grill on a solid surface without spacers.
Use a cloth or other piece of material to protect the grill against scratches Remove yellow covers on the damping pads C and firmly place them on the solid areas on the rear of the grill A [side with spacers → see illustration]

Prepare the studio monitor

The assembly of the protective grill A uses existing screw holes that are also used to mount the drivers, waveguides, etc. No extra drilling required!
Remove the identified screws with the L-key hand tool F [turn anti-clockwise to loosen]
Position the grill A so that the spacers line up with the empty screw holes and hold in place with one hand. Please make sure the grill is in the correct orientation. [The rectangular solid area meant for the logo placement needs to be at the bottom.] The grill is held in position by the spacers interlocking with the holes. The grill will only fit in the correct orientation.
Put the plastic washers E over the screws D, fasten the screws loosely [the screws are fastened by turning them clockwise].
Tighten the screws with the L-key hand tool F. Be careful not to damage the MDF cabinet or break the screws.
Repeat for all screws.

Optional:
Attach the logo sticker B if desired in the indicated area Peel off the cover of the sticker before attaching.

COMPENSATION OF THE GRILL’S ACOUSTIC IMPACT

This grill has been designed to protect its referring studio monitor without compromi- sing the speaker’s sonic performance. Still, the grill does affect the frequency response in the treble range to some extent. You may find the following EQ parameters useful to compensate for the grill’s acoustic impact. Please apply all EQs given in below table for optimal compensation:

To adjust the filter settings of your studio monitor, you can either use the local UI or the S Control remote software. A detailed description of the process can be found in the S Series user manual. Please use two vacant/unused EQ slots for the settings above to keep your previous settings.

REMOVING THE GRILL
1. The procedure described above should be carried out reversed. 2. Use only the original screws for drivers, waveguides, etc.
