USING INSTRUCTION
DR. JALEENA FISCHER-JESSOP
The patient originally had thick enamel with rounded tooth contours. Her upper
anterior teeth showed discolouration due to trauma. I wanted to mask the
underlying colour so the teeth more closely matched her lower anterior. Shades
B1D and Enamel White (EW) were used to lighten the appearance of the teeth.
The Universal Body (UB) shade was then used to ensure the margin blended
naturally into the cervical areas.
- A female patient in her 20s, with a history of trauma. Opted to not move forward with implants as teeth were stable.
- The patient had esthetic concerns and was financially challenged. Because of the history of trauma, we opted to do no-prep direct-bonded composite veneers.
- Placed Transcend composite B1D shade 2/3 up from the incisal edge, thinning towards the gingival. Universal Body (UB) shade was placed against the gingival 1/3 and the final layers were completed with Enamel White (EW) shade and a small amount of UB at the gingival margin for blending.
- Used a #12 blade and separating saw to separate the veneers.
- Careful removal of the composite veneers.
- Used a fine mosquito needle diamond bur for contouring the margins.
- Composite veneers are contoured and polished using the jiffy™ Natural polishing kit and ready-to-cement procedure.
- Air abrasion of the internal surface of the veneer (Ultra-Etch™ 35% phosphoric acid can also be used).
- Coated internal surface with Peak™ Universal Bond adhesive.
- Air-thinned Peak Universal Bond adhesive with air and suction. Light cured with the VALO™ X curing light for 3 seconds on Xtra Power mode.
- Packed Ultrapak™™ knitted cord Size #0 into the gingival sulcus.
- Performed a 30-second etch using Ultra-Etch 35% phosphoric acid on uncut enamel.
- Applied Peak Universal Bond adhesive and thinned with air and suction.
- Cemented with PermaShade™ LC luting resin, Translucent shade.
- Final cementation results.
- To develop the facial anatomy, football diamonds and long, thin diamond burs were used. A lobed diamond bur was used to create the lines of Retzius (SR lines). The initial polishing was completed with Jiffy™ Natural polishers, then the final lustre was achieved with Ultradent™ Diamond Polish Mint| and the Jiffy™ Goat Hair Brush to not remove the tertiary anatomy.
