Monoprice MP Maker Pro Mk.1 Firmware
Do I Need This Update?
Turn on the printer, then touch the Level button. If you see a menu with two
options, as shown below and to the left, you need to update the firmware. If
you see the menu blow and to the right, your printer already has the latest
firmware and you do not need this update.
Preparation
- Insert microSD™ card into a card reader on your computer. Note that the card can be no larger than 8GB in size and that it should be formatted for FAT32 with a 4096 sector size.
- Download the 33013_Firmware_V0.163_180720.zip file from the 33013 page on the Monoprice website.
- Extract the 33013_Firmware_V0.163_180720.zip file to the microSD™ card. This will install a directory named DWIN_SET and a file named IIIP D9 300-V0.163.hex in the root directory of the microSD™ card.
Motherboard Firmware Updating

With the printer turned off, connect it to your PC using a USB cable.

On your computer, open the Device Manager. Click next to Ports (COM & LPT, so can see all the active serial ports.
Take note of which ports are active. -
Turn on the printer. The computer will automatically install the basic USB drivers.

Look at the Ports (COM & LPT) list and identify the new entry.

Launch Cura.

Click the Machine menu, then click the Machine Settings… entry.

Set the Serial port to the port identified in step 4 above, then set the Baudrate to 115200. Click OK to save the changes.

Click the Machine menu, then select the Install custom firmware… entry.

Use the file browser to navigate to the microSD™ card, then select the IIIP D9 300- V0.163.hex file. It takes about a minute to complete the update process.
LCD Screen Updating

Turn off the printer, then turn it on its side.

Remove the screws and the panel indicated in the image below and to the left to gain access to the LCD controller board.

Insert the microSD™ card into the card slot on the controller board, as shown in the image above and to the right.

Turn on the printer. The printer will start flashing the firmware automatically. It takes about 2 minutes to update the firmware.
When the process is complete, the LCD screen will display SD Card Process… END! -
Turn off the printer, then remove the microSD card from the card slot.

Reinstall the panel and screws removed in step 2 above.

Place the printer back on its feet, then turn it on. Touch the Level button to verify that the new Level menu is in place.
