Thank you for purchasing SWITCH & GO DINOS® Overseer the T-Rex by VTech®. Engage your imagination with this amazing T-Rex that switches into a mighty robot. Use the Action and Talk buttons to bring Overseer the T-Rex to life in your very own dinosaur universe.image 1image 2

WARNING: All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging locks, removable tags, cable ties, cords and packaging screws are not part of this toy and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
NOTE: Please keep this parent’s guide as it contains important information.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  1. For optimal performance, please play on a smooth surface.
  2. When exposed to electrostatic discharge and radio interference, Overseer the T-Rex may malfunction. Please turn both Overseer and the remote control off and on again to reset them.
  3. For your child’s safety, do not put Overseer the T-Rex in either configuration on your clothing, body or hair.
  4. For your child’s safety, don’t touch or pick up Overseer the T-Rex when it is switching.image 3

GETTING STARTED

BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Overseer the T-Rex

  1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
  2. Locate the battery covers on the back of each foot and use a screwdriver to remove them.
  3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.
  4. Install 6 new AA (LR6/AM-3) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance).
  5. Replace the battery covers.image 4

Remote Control

  1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
  2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the controller and use a screwdriver to remove it.
  3. Remove old batteries by pulling up on one end of each battery.
  4. Install 2 new AAA batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance).
  5. Replace the battery cover.image 5
    WARNING:
    Adult assembly required. Batteries are to be installed by adult. Keep batteries out of reach from children.

BATTERY NOTICE

  • Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.
  • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
  • Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
  • Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
  • Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES:

  • Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging.
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

Disposal of batteries and product

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment and human health.

The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb) set out in the Batteries and Accumulators Regulation. The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13th August, 2005. Help protect the environment by disposing of your product or batteries responsibly.

PRODUCT FEATURES

OVERSEER THE T-REX:

  1. POWER ON/OFF SWITCH
    To turn Overseer the T-Rex on, slide the Power On/Off Switch to the ON ( ) position. To turn Overseer the T-Rex off, slide the Power On/Off Switch to the OFF ( ) position.image 6

  2. SWITCH BUTTON
    Press the Switch Button to switch between a T-Rex and robot automatically.

  3. LCD SCREEN
    The LCD Screen shows T-Rex eye animations in Dino Mode and shows robot controller animations in Robot Mode.

  4. LIGHT UP HEAD
    The Light Up Head flashes a red light along with the sounds in Dino Mode. The Light Up Head flashes a green light along with the sounds in Robot Mode.

REMOTE CONTROL:

  1. OFF/VOLUME SWITCH
    To turn the Remote Control on and adjust the volume, slide the Off/Volume Switch to the Low Volume ( ) position or the High Volume ( ) position. To turn the Remote Control off, slide the Off/Volume Switch to the OFF ( ) position.image 7

  2. CONNECTION LIGHT
    When the Remote Control is switched on, the Red Connection Light will turn on. If Overseer the T-Rex is switched on, the Red Connection Light will flash and the Remote Control will start to connect to Overseer the T-Rex. If the connection is successful, the Red Connection Light will turn off and a Green Connection Light will show once buttons on the Remote Control are pressed. If the connection fails and the Remote Control cannot connect to Overseer the T-Rex, please turn the Remote Control and Overseer the T-Rex off and on again to try again.
    Note:
    If the Connection Light is off when any of the Remote Control buttons are pressed, please install a brand new set of batteries and try switching it off and on again.

  3. DIRECTION BUTTONS
    Hold the Direction Buttons to move Overseer the T-Rex forwards, backwards, left or right.

  4. TALK BUTTON
    Press the Talk Button to play wild T-Rex phrases, facts and sound effects in Dino Mode. Press the Talk Button to play cool robot phrases and sound effects in Robot Mode.image 8

  5. ACTION BUTTON
    Press the Action Button to see Overseer perform a cool action!

  6. SWITCH BUTTON
    Press the Switch Button to see Overseer automatically switch between T-Rex and robot.image 9

  7. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
    To preserve battery life, Overseer the T-Rex will automatically turn off after several minutes without input. The Remote Control can’t control Overseer the T-Rex during this period. Overseer the T-Rex can be turned on again by pressing the Switch Button, or by sliding the Power On/Off Switch from the Off position to the On position.
    Note:
    The lights on the T-Rex’s nose will flash red three times and then automatically turn off when battery power is low. Once this occurs, please install a brand new set of batteries and try switching Overseer off and on again.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
  2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
  3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
  4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

  1. Please turn the unit OFF.
  2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
  3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
  4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play with again.
  5. If the product still does not work, install a brand new set of batteries. If the problem persists, please contact our Consumer Services Department and a service representative will be happy to help you.
