DMX-512 CONNECTION

If you are using a standard DMX controller, you can connect the DMX output of the controller directly to the DMX input of the first unit in a DMX chain. Always connect the output of one unit with the input of the next unit until all units are connected.

DMX-512 CONNECTION

5-pin XLR DMX Connectors.

Some manufactures use 5-pin DMX-512 data cables for DATA transmission in place of 3-pin. 5-pin DMX fixtures may be implemented in a 3-pin DMX line. When inserting standard 5-pin data cables in to a 3-pin line a cable adaptor must be used.

The chart below details a proper cable conversion.

3-Pin XLR to 5-Pin XLR Conversion

At the last fixture, the DMX cable has to be terminated. Solder a 120 Ohm resistor between signal (-) and signal (+) into a 3-pin XLR connector and plug this into the DMX output of the last fixture in the chain.

MASTER/SLAVE OPERATION

The master/slave operation enables that several same units can be controlled by one “master” unit.

Connect the first unit “DMX OUT” socket with the second unit “DMX IN”, using a 3pin DMX Cable. Repeat this process with the third, fourth etc. or see a above section “DMX-512 connection”. Choose the unit that will control all other and set this in master-mode via display. The other units that must react on the master, you must set in slave-mode. The “Slave” will synchronously follow the “Master” .

Noted: Any unit can be the “Master” or “Slave”.

DMX ADDRESSING

The DMX address, also known as the start channel, is the first channel used to receive instructions from a DMX controller. The fixture is controlled using a minimum of 3 DMX channels (but has an extended modus which uses more channels). Each DMX controlled fixture must have a DMX address set. For example, if the fixture has a DMX address of 10, then it uses channels 10 to 13 inclusive. The following fixture in the DMX chain could then be set to a DMX address of 14.

For independent control, each fixture must be assigned its own control channels. Two fixtures of the same type may share the same address if identical behavior is desired. Address sharing can be useful for diagnostic purposes and symmetric control.

To set the fixture’s DMX address:

  1. In the control menu, select DMX “ADDR” and press ENTER to confirm. The present address will blink in the display.
  2. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to select an address from 1 to 512 (the top address will vary depending on the DMX mode of the fixture).
  3. Press ENTER to confirm your selection.

DMX CHANNEL MODE

You can control the fixture in two modes:

  • 3 channel mode
  • 5 channel mode
  • 6 channel mode
  • 12 channel mode
  • 24 channel mode
  • 48 channel mode

To adjust the setting:

  1. Select “CHNd” MODE and press “ENTER”. The currently set option will blink in the display.
  2. Use the “DOWN” and “UP” buttons to select 3ch, 5ch, 6ch, 12ch, 24ch or 48ch.
  3. Press “ENTER” to save your selection.

BEHAVIOR WITHOUT DMX (DMX STATE)

The DMX STATE setting determines how the fixture behaves when it is not receiving a DMX signal. You can set the fixture to enter Auto Mode, Sound Mode or black out.

To adjust the setting:

  1. Select “SLNd” and press “ENTER”. You can choose between “Mast”, “SL1”, “SL2” and “d512”. For use the Auto or sound the fixture must be set on “Mast”. When is select “SL1”, “SL2” or “d512” the fixture is black when without DMX.
  2. Use the “Down” or UP buttons to select “Auto” or “Sound” and press “ENTER”.
  3. When “Auto” you can choose between 16 auto programs select your program with de “Down” and “UP” buttons and press “ENTER”.

When “ShNd” (sound programs) you can choose between 16 sound programs select you program with de “Down” and “UP” buttons and press “ENTER”.

FIRMWARE VERSION

To display the fixture’s current firmware version, select “UER” and press ENTER. The display will show the version of firmware in the fixture. Press MENU to exit.

IR MODE

IR MODEPress mode key until Iron or IroF is displayed; then press Up or Down button to choose Iron. Press ENTER to confirm.

To switch off the lights:
Press OFF on the remote control. All the lights will turn off until the button ON is pressed [1].

Manual colour control
You can set R/G/B/W colours with the remote by pushing either the Red button for red, the Green button for green, the Blue button for blue [3].
Each colour intensity is then adjustable using the Light Up and Down [2] buttons

Preset colour mode:
Press one of the twelve preset colours on the remote control [4]. No dimming possible with preset colours.

AUTO/SOUND on the IRC.
Press one of the four buttons to choose between the different auto programs. [5]

REPLACING THE FUSE

If the fuse is defective, replace the fuse with a fuse of the same type and value. Before replacing the fuse, unplug mains lead.

Procedure:

Step 1: Open the fuse holder on the rear panel with a fitting screwdriver.
Step 2: Remove the old fuse from the fuse holder.
Step 3: Install the new fuse in the fuse holder.
Step 4: Replace the fuse holder in the housing.

FIXTURE CLEANING

The cleaning of internal and external optical lenses and/or mirrors must be carried out periodically to optimize light output.

Cleaning frequency depends on the environment in which the fixture operates: damp, smoky or particularly dirty surrounding can cause greater accumulation of dirt on the unit’s optics.

  • Make sure the area below the installation place is free from unwanted persons during servicing
  • Housings, fixations and installations spots( ceiling, truss, suspensions) should be totally free from any deformation
  • The mains cables must be in impeccable condition and should be replaced immediately when even a small problem is detected
  • In order to protect the fixture from overheat the cooling fans (if any) and ventilation openings should be cleaned monthly.
  • The interior of the fixture should be cleaned annually using a vacuum cleaner or air-jet.
  • Clean with soft cloth using normal glass cleaning fluid.
  • Always dry the parts carefully.
  • Clean the external optics at least every month. Clean the internal optics at least every 30/60 days.

ATTENTION: We strongly recommend internal cleaning to be carried out by qualified worker!
