DJO BODY BELT User Manual

BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTION COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY. CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE.

INTENDED USER PROFILE

The intended user should be a licensed medical professional or the patient’s caregiver. The user should be able to read, understand and be physically capable of performing all the directions, warnings and cautions provided in the information for use.

INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS

The DonJoy Secure All Body Belt is designed to provide positional support to help the patient maintain a particular posture or position to perform a specific function (i.e. sitting up to eat). It may be suitable for use in a bed, wheelchair or geriatric chair.

Providing temporary restraint of a limb or body segment for positional support.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

If you have skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of the body, the product should be fitted and worn only after consultation with a medical professional.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

  • This product is to be prescribed and fitted by a physician.
  • Ensure to inspect product prior to use to confirm all parts are in working order.
  • If you experience any pain, swelling, changes in sensation or other unusual reactions occur while using this product, you should contact your medical professional immediately.
  • Do not use over open wounds.
  • Always inspect product prior to application to ensure all parts are in proper working order.
  • Do not use this device if it was damaged and/or package has been opened.
  • Discontinue use when torn, worn, frayed or damaged.
  • Failure to follow the instructions for use may result in serious injury.
  • Do not use on combative patients.
  • When a patient is in a restrictive product in bed or on a stretcher or gurney, all side rails MUST be in the UP position. All straps must be checked routinely to
    ensure they are secure. All straps must be secured short enough so the patient cannot become entangled. Always monitor patient when using a restraining device. Tighten straps without restricting patient’s circulation.

NOTE: Contact manufacturer and competent authority in case of a serious incident arising due to usage of this device.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

  1. Position belt between patient’s waist and pelvis with straps facing outward. (Fig.1)

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Warm Water Maximum Temperature of 104°F/40°C.
Do Not Bleach. Air Dry Lowest Setting – Do Not Exceed 120°F/50°C.

ATTENTION: Wash only according to washing instructions. Incorrect laundry care can reduce product integrity and shorten product life. Carefully inspect product after each washing to insure product integrity. Discard garment if it appears worn or frayed.

WARRANTY

DJO, LLC will repair or replace all or part of the unit and its accessories for material or workmanship defects for a period of six months from the date of sale.

  1. Read insert before use. Follow manufacturer’s instructions, hospital protocol for restraints and state or federal laws.

  2. Follow physician’s orders for appropriateness, duration of application and frequency of use.

  3. Check restrained patients frequently according to hospital protocol and state
    or federal laws. Patients may become restless or agitated if left unattended for too long.

  4. Train all staff on the proper application of patient restraints.

  5. Do not attach to side rails. If bed is adjustable, attach ties to movable part of
    bed frame.

  6. Do not alter dj Ortho Body Holders in any way or transfer products from one
    facility to another.

  7. Do not expose to open flame.

  8. Do not use any type of pillow or back cushion that may become dislodged.
    Make sure that proper body alignment is maintained.
