8650D COMPRESSOR OPERATION
-
Make sure the power cord is unplugged from wall-outlet power source.
WARNING
Explosion Hazard. Do not operate in the presence of flammable anesthetics. -
Refer to Important Parts of Your 8650D Compressor for part identification.
-
Place the 8650D compressor on a flat surface in a position allowing for adequate air flow from the rear of the device.
CAUTION— During high-humidity weather conditions, condensation water build-up can occur in the internal motor hose of the compressor. It is recommended that the 8650D be turned on and run for two minutes before the nebulizer/tubing is connected to the compressor. -
For disposable nebulizer use, thread the optional tubing connector to either the compressor air outlet or optional extension tube, then attach one end of nebulizer tubing Figure 1 or Figure 2.
-
For high output humidification, thread the bottle adapter directly to the extension tube air outlet Figure 3.
-
Before plugging in the power cord, make sure the power switch is in the “Off” position by pressing on the bottom half of the switch Figure 4. Plug the power cord into a properly grounded wall-outlet power source.
WARNING
Ground reliability can only be achieved when the power cord is connected to an equivalent receptacle marked “Hospital Grade.”
CAUTION— This model is designed to operate utilizing 115V, 60Hz. Do not attempt to operate this compressor on any other power source, as damage to the motor may result. -
To start the compressor, press the power switch “On.”
NOTE— Cold temperatures may cause a delayed motor start-up. Should this occur, place the compressor in a warmer room until the unit reaches room temperature. Then press the power switch again.
Compressor Pressure
Compressor pressure may be increased by turning the pressure adjustment knob
in a clockwise direction (knob must be pulled out to unlock) Figure 5.
Pressure is decreased by turning the pressure adjustment knob in a
counterclockwise direction. After adjusting the pressure as specified by your
physician or the medication instructions, push adjustment knob to lock.
NOTE— For continuous use, do not exceed 50 psig maximum pressure. Some
units are equipped with a pressure relief valve that limits the output
pressure to a maximum of approximately 70 psig. A popping sound will be heard
if the pressure relief is activated. The valve will reset when normal
operating pressure is reached.
NOTE— In order for unit to register a correct pressure gauge reading,
nebulizer/tubing must be connected to the compressor.
COMPRESSOR CLEANING
Be sure the power has been disconnected. Wipe the compressor cabinet with a
clean cloth and any commercial disinfectant.
CAUTION— Do not submerge in water, as compressor damage will result.
CAUTION—Do not gas sterilize.
FILTER CLEANING/CHANGING
Your DeVilbiss 8650D compressor contains two filters:
Fan Filter—The fan filter refines the air taken into the unit to cool the
compressor. It is located on the back of the compressor cabinet Figure 6 and
should be changed when deteriorated. During continuous use, it is recommended
that the filter be cleaned weekly with warm soapy water, rinsed thoroughly,
and dried completely.
Air-Inlet Filter—This filter is located inside the cabinet and should be
changed every 12 months or more often as indicated by environmental
conditions. It should be serviced by a DeVilbiss Healthcare provider’s
