Panasonic 42HZP-FZ Automatic Rice Cooker

Before using this rice cooker, please read these instructions completely.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs
  3. To protect against electrical hazards as shocks, do not immerse the cord, plug, and Rice Cooker in water or other liquids.
  4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow cooling before putting on or taking off parts.
  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
  7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  8. Do not use outdoors.
  9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
  10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
  11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  12. To disconnect, turn any control to “off’ then remove the plug from wall outlet.
  13. Do not use appliances other than intended use
  14. This appliance is not intended for use by persons, including children, with reduced physical or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a trained person responsible for their safety.
  15. Do not clean with a water jet or pressure washer.

CAUTION :

A. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled or tripping over a longer cord.
B. The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over
C. The use of extension cords is not recommended.

This appliance has a polarized plug: (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

HOW TO USE

  1. Measure rice with the measuring cup provided. One cup of uncooked rice makes approximately 3 cups of cooked rice by volume. Rinse rice in a separate bowl until the water becomes relatively clear.
  2. Place rinsed rice in the pan. Add water according to the following standard.

Adjust water quantity to your taste.

  1. Set the pan in the rice cooker. To place it correctly on the heater, turn the pan gently to right and left. Cover with the lid and let the rice soak for approximately 30 minutes.

  2. Plugin. Be sure the wall outlet has a ground terminal. Do not plug in until ready to cook. Otherwise, rice may be ruined.

  3. Press the switch, the red “Cooking / Keep Warm” lamp tells you cooking has started.
    If the pan is not in the rice cooker, cooking will not begin.

  4. When cooking is done, the switch will pop up and the “Cooking / Keep Warm” lamp goes out.

  5. After the switch pops up, leave the lid closed for at least 15 minutes to steam the rice.

  6. Unplug after use. Grasp the power plug, not the power cord.

CAUTION

  1. • Make sure that the pan is sitting properly in the Rice Cooker. If the pan is not positioned correctly, the switch may pop up too soon and the heater assembly may be permanently damaged.
    Your Rice Cooker has been designed with a thermal fuse that may automatically shut the rice cooker off.

  2. Do not use if any parts are damaged. DO NOT USE THE PAN THAT IS DENTED OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM as it will cause one or more of the following symptoms:
    a. Cook cycle may not be complete.
    c. The heating element may be permanently damaged.
    b. Unit may shut off prematurely.
    d. Unit may overheat and cause the Thermal Fuse to open resulting in a no power condition

  3. Do not leave the lid upside down in places that are subject to direct sunlight. Sunlight may be reflected and focused onto furniture, walls etc, which may result in damage to the surface.

  4. Do not tilt the Rice Cooker on its edge or place it upside down with its power plug connected, as this may result in damage to the Rice Cooker.

  5. The Pan may discolor with age. This is normal. DO NOT use metal utensils with the non-stick coated pan as damage may result to the coating on the pan.

KEEP WARM FUNCTION

  1. Once the Cooking function has finished, the Keep Warm function will continuously work until the unit is unplugged.
  2. The red “Cooking / Keep Warm” lamp will indicate that the Keep Warm function is working by INTERMITTENTLY turning on for a few seconds and then turning off.
  3. The Keep Warm function will continue until such time as the unit is unplugged.
  4. Do not switch to Cooking during Keep Warm by pressing the switch.
  5. Do not keep rice warm for more than 5 hours.
  6. Do not use the Keep Warm function to reheat cold rice.
  7. Always unplug the rice cooker BEFORE taking out the pan.
  8. When unplugging the unit, be sure to grasp the power plug. DO NOT pull on the power cord.

HOW TO CLEAN

  1. Unplug before cleaning.
  2. Soak the pan in hot water to loosen cooked-on rice.
  3. Do not immerse the Rice Cooker Body in water or any other liquid. Wipe with a damp cloth and sanitize.
  4. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool. Clean with a non-metal brush or pad.

Panasonic Canada Inc. warrants this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and for a period as stated below from the date of original purchase agrees to, at its option either (a) repair your product with new or refurbished parts, (b) replace it with a new or a refurbished equivalent value product, or (c) refund your purchase price. The decision to repair, replace or refund will be made by Panasonic Canada Inc.

The warranty ALSO DOES NOT COVER damages that occurred in shipment, or failures which are caused by products not supplied by Panasonic Canada Inc., or failures which result from accidents, misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, misapplication, alteration, faulty installation, set-up adjustments, misadjustment of consumer controls, improper maintenance, power line surge, lightning damage, modification, the introduction of sand, humidity or liquids, or service by anyone other than an Authorized Servicer, or damage that is attributable to acts of God.
