– If a cutting unit is damaged, throw it away and start using a new one (Fig. 11). Order a new cutting unit from our website or contact Philips support at 1-800-243-7884 (US) or 1-866-8009311 (Canada).
Tips for an optimal shaving experience
Before use
– Exfoliate your skin one day before shaving to remove dead skin cells around your hair follicles and to make it easier to remove hair.
– Clean your skin before you start shaving.
– If your skin is wet after cleaning, do not rub it dry but pat it dry.
– Shave before going to bed so that your skin has time to recover overnight.
– Do not keep the shaving head on one spot but keep moving it over the skin slowly.
– Avoid going over the same spot too many times.
After use
– Gently apply an alcohol-free soothing cream or lotion to your skin.
– Allow your skin some time to recover in between shaving sessions.
– When you have not used your shaver for a while, it is normal that some skin irritation occurs. Your skin may need to readjust to the shaving process.
Wet and dry use
This product is suitable for both wet and dry use.  For easy gliding and optimal skin comfort, either use the product on completely wet skin or on completely dry skin. Do not use it on moist skin.
Dry use
Use your product on dry skin for an optimal and most efficient shaving session. When the hairs are dry, they do not stick to the skin as much as during wet use. Make sure that your skin is clean and completely dry before you use the product.
Wet use
For a comfortable feeling and smooth movements, you can use the product on wet skin. Keep in mind that because wet hairs tend to stick to the skin, shaving performance may be better on dry skin. During wet use, rinse the shaving head regularly to remove hairs and to ensure that it continues to glide smoothly over your skin. Make sure your skin is completely wet with water (not just moist). Gently pat your skin dry after use.
Using the product
This product is waterproof (Fig. 3). It is suitable for use in the bath or shower and for cleaning under the tap.
For safety reasons, the product can therefore only be used without cord.

Do not pull at the sides, teeth or other protruding parts of accessories to remove them.

1 Place the product on your skin in such a way that the cutting unit, attachment or accessory is in full contact with the skin (Fig. 18).
2 When you use the product on sensitive areas, stretch the skin with your free hand. When you use the product on your underarms, raise your arm and put your hand on the back of your head to stretch the skin (Fig. 19).
3 Move the product slowly against the direction of hair growth (Fig. 18).
Note: If you move the product over your skin too fast, you may not obtain a smooth result.
Shaving head
You can use the shaving head to shave your legs, arms, underarms and bikini area. Do not use the shaving head on your face.
To shave your intimate area, only use the shaving head with the shaving head comb attached (Fig. 20) and only use it on the inside and outside of the outer labia (Fig. 4).

Soft glide cap
You can use the soft glide cap for small curved areas like the underarms and knee pit.
You can attach the soft glide cap onto the shaving head to cover the back trimmer of the shaving head for extra safety in curvy areas. The smooth material makes it glide effortlessly over your skin.
Make sure that you attach the soft glide cap in such a way that the back trimmer of the shaving head is covered (Fig. 22).

  9. To protect cutting units, foils and trimmer teeth, attach combs to the heads when you store the product.
Note: Lubricate trimmer teeth and foils with a drop of sewing machine oil every six months for optimal performance.

Storage

  1. To prevent damage, put the trimming combs on the shaving head and on the trimming head when you store them (Fig. 14).
  2. Store the product, its heads and accessories in the pouch (if supplied) or in another safe, dry place.

Replacement
For optimal cutting and gliding performance, we advise you to replace the cutting unit of the shaving head every 12 months or when it no longer provides the shaving or trimming results you expect.
Depending on your usage behavior, the exact lifetime of the cutting unit may vary. Similar to a manual blade, the foil of the cutting unit becomes blunt over time. This may result in reduced shaving performance and an increased hair pulling sensation during shaving and trimming. You may wish to replace the cutting unit sooner or later than indicated, depending on how satisfied you are with the performance of the foil.
If the foil is damaged, stop using the shaving head and replace the cutting unit immediately. Always replace the cutting unit with one of the original type.
Note: The availability of accessories may differ by country.
