WARRANTY
CANARM Ltd. warrants every new Heated Livestock Waterer to be free of defects
in material and workmanship, to the extent that, within a period of one year
from the date of purchase CANARM Ltd. shall either repair or replace at
CANARM’s option, any unit or part thereof, returned freight prepaid, and found
to be defective. This warranty does not include any labor or transportation
costs incidental to the removal and reinstallation of the unit at the user’s
premises.
Components repaired or replaced are warranted through the remainder of the
original warranty period only. This warranty applies to the original
purchaser-user only; it is null and void in case of alteration, accident,
abuse, neglect, and operation not in accordance with instructions.
NOTICE : No warranty claims will be honored by CANARM Ltd. unless prior
authorization is obtained.

General Information:
Canarm’s Energy Efficient Heated Livestock Waterers are designed for both
durability and ease of use. Our H50/HL50/H100/H200/HLW-P50 models have a
strong, double-wall design, with 2” or more injected polyurethane foam
insulation, providing a minimum of an R15 insulation value, one of the highest
in the industry.
The hinged bowl is designed to lift up for easy cleaning, as well as quick
access to all internal components. Stainless steel bowl construction ensures
long life and eliminates the risk of chipping paint and rust contamination.
Canarm heated livestock waterers come with a 190 watt (P25), a 300 watt
(HL50/H50/P50), a 500 watt (H100/P100), or an 800 watt (H200 unit has 1 – 320
watt + 1 – 500 watt) thermostatically-controlled heating element. An external
pilot light (not available on P25, P50, or P100) turns on when the thermostat
setting is reached – but it is not directly indicating the heating element has
turned on. The thermostat is adjustable and can be accessed through the
control cover.
The non-siphoning design and nylon control valve and float are designed for
trouble-free operation in all seasons.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using the electrical equipment, basic safety precautions should always be
followed, including the following:
( a) READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS
(b) A green terminal (or a wire connector marked “G”, “GR”, “GROUND”, or
“GROUNDING”) is provided within the control box. To reduce the risk of
electric shock, connect this terminal or connector to the grounding terminal
of the electric service or supply panel with a continuous copper wire in
accordance
with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1.
(c) This product shall be protected by a Class A ground fault circuit
interrupter.
(d) SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
INSTALLATION
ATTENTION: Electrical installation and maintenance MUST be performed by a
qualified technician!
Locating the Waterer: (DIAGRAM 1.)
The waterer can be located indoors or out and can be positioned on the fence
line to supply water to two pens or positioned centrally in the pen to water
larger numbers of animals. When locating the waterer on a fence line the rails
above the waterer should be removable to permit the unique easy cleaning
feature to operate. The waterer is equipped with a hinged bowl for easy
cleaning, just swing the bowl up to dump the dirty water. This also provides
quick access and more space for installation and maintenance procedures.
Mounting the Waterer:
The waterer should be mounted on a 6′ x 6’x 6″ thick concrete base with a 3″
thick raised concrete pad. Bolts can be positioned in the concrete or drilling
and concrete anchors can be used after the concrete has cured. Place the
waterer in position and secure it with the brackets provided. The brackets
bolt to the side of the waterer in the weld nuts located near each corner.
(NOTE: Poly models have molded corners on the inside of the housing. Drill
concrete anchors through the pilot holes provided).

Water & Electrical Supply: (DIAGRAM 2.)
The water line and electrical feed should be brought to the waterer location
below the frost penetration depth for your area. If feeding several waterers
off one water line then a larger diameter supply should be used. An 8″
diameter clay casement tile or other suitable enclosure should be used to
bring the supplies up from below the frost line and through the center of the
pad.
DO NOT FILL THE ENCLOSURE WITH INSULATION-LEAVE IT OPEN. The tile should
be cut off at 2″ above the pad and the water supply at 10” for the H50, H100,
H200, P50, and P100 models; 3” for the HL50 and P25 models. A shut-off valve
inside the waterer is recommended. As an extra precaution, a thermostatic
heating cable (or heat tape) can be installed along the supply riser pipe to
prevent freeze-up. A fused receptacle located inside the waterer is provided
for plugging in the cable. Also recommended is 2″ rigid foam insulation
against the concrete inside the unit.
Water Supply Connections:
After the bowl is mounted to the pad the bowl should be swung open by removing
the pin, clearing the latch, and swinging the bowl open. A 1/2″ inner diameter
flexible hose is provided for connecting to the supply.
Electrical Supply Connections: (DIAGRAM 3.)
Electrical connections should be made by a qualified electrician following
local codes. It is recommended that each waterer be connected through a
dedicated supply line to prevent stray voltage from other equipment on
nondedicated lines. Connections should be made to a 120 volt supply. A ground
fault interrupter circuit breaker is recommended for extra safety. The H100
models draw 500 watts/4.2 amps and the H50/HL50/HLW-P50 models draw 300
watts/2.7 amps. The P25 model draws 190 watts/1.6 amps and the H200 models
draw 800 watts/6.7 amps. If using a cable heater the amp draw must be added to
determine the circuit breaker capacity required. To make the connections
remove the front cover. (Inside bowl on the P25, P50, and P100 models) Remove
the insulation block. This is where the wiring diagram is located. Bring the
supply through the back of the box using an appropriate connector. Connect the
black live lead to the blue and black stripped leads taped together and the
white neutral to the stripped white and black leads. The ground wire should be
securely attached to the ground lug provided in the box.
Adjusting the Water Level: (DIAGRAM 4.)
To adjust the water level, remove the valve/float cover assembly by removing the four nuts and lift the cover straight up and off. The level is factory preset but differences in water pressure will cause variation. Adjust the float by loosening the wing nut on the valve and moving the arm upwards to raise the water level and downwards to lower the water level. Start with a low water level first, then adjust float arm upwards until required level is reached.

Adjusting the Water Temperature:
The ideal drinking water temperature is between 3 deg.C. (37 F.) and 5 deg.C.
(41F.). The thermostat is factory set to medium which is suitable for many
climates and can be adjusted to suit conditions by removing the wiring box
cover. Turn the control higher or lower as required (see Diagrams 3a &
3b). The pilot light (not available on P25, P50, or P100 models) comes on
whenever the thermostat is activated, which aids in selecting the temperature
setting. The heating element can only be tested for working conditions by
sensing warmth coming from it. If the water is too cold then turn the control
higher until the pilot light comes on. This sets the low-temperature setting.
It is better to adjust one increment at a time and let the control react
overtime to
the change to prevent overshooting the desired low temperature.
Maintaining the Waterer:
The CANARM waterer is designed for easy cleaning and is virtually maintenance-
free. To clean the bowl, remove the pin holding the bowl down, clear the catch
with the latch and swing the bowl up and over to empty the dirty water.
The low maintenance valve/float assembly (Diagram 4) should be checked and
cleaned based on the quality of the water supply. Simply pull the pin to
remove piston assembly from the valve housing. Inspect and clean orifice in
housing. Remove any rust and mineral build-up. Careful not to damage the
smooth continuous orifice ridge that the seal comes in contact with. Inspect
rubberized seal and O-ring for dirt or damage, and replace if necessary.

Step 1 : Slide threaded portion of P4875 Brass fitting up through bowl
deck along with G4957 Hose Bracket (see diagram) and fasten from below using
P4877 Brass Nut supplied in kit.
Step 2: Screw on P4876 Brass elbow onto P4875 Brass fitting oriented
towards, or into Bowl. (Ensure Teflon tape is applied to threads)
Step 3: Screw on the P4300 Plastic Valve to the end of the P4876 Brass
elbow-oriented water supply orifice facing down into the bowl. (Ensure Teflon
tape is applied to threads)
Step 4: Mount the P6985-1620Q long Set Screw to the end of the P4836
Plastic Ball Float using an Allen wrench. Fully thread these to the P4300
Plastic Valve.
Step 5: Adjust the P4300 Plastic Valve according to desired water height.
(Gently lift P4836 Plastic Ball Float up until Valve stops, and closes. This
is your set point)
Step 6: Mount G4924 Cover and secure with the four supplied P6373-1620
nylon lock nuts.
