Instructions Guide
Navigation Controls
ON/OFF button
- To turn your radio on, press the ON/OFF button.
- To turn your radio off, press and hold the ON/OFF button.
Next/Previous buttons
- Use the Next and Previous buttons to navigate around the radio and browse through your selections and stations available.
- In FM mode these buttons can be held down to autoscan to the next or previous available stations.
Mode/Key
Switch between DAB/FM/MP3 using the mode button. In these modes you can browse
through DAB and FM settings and also gain access to the radio settings.
Hold down button to unlock/lock your radio
Menu/Info button
Select repeatedly for station information and radio setting options.
Vol -/Vol +
Control the volume of the radio.
Basic Operation
Ensure that the radio has been charged and view the battery life on the display when you turn it on. If the battery icon shows all of the bars illuminated then the system is fully charged.
To charge the device, use the USB cable provided and plug
it into a computer or a plug (not supplied) that accepts USB connectors. Plug
this into the radio USB charging port (Ref.5)
Also ensure that the earphones are connected (Ref.12)into the top of the system correctly as they are also the antenna of your radio. Without them, no DAB/FM signal will be received.
Turn the radio on by pressing the ‘ON/OFF’ button (Ref.10) on the side of the radio. “Welcome to Digital Radio” will then show on the display.
The radio will then automatically begin scanning for available DAB stations.
The radio will display “Searching…” and may take a few minutes to scan.
The signal bar will now display on the top right of the radio screen. If there
are no bars, there may be issues with getting a good connection to stations.
DAB/DAB+ Radio
Press the ‘ON/OFF’ button (Ref.10). On first use, DAB radio will automatically start scanning all stations and save them.
To auto scan (if the unit has not automatically done so, or shows no signal),
ensure that the radio is in DAB mode by using the
‘Mode/Key’ button (Ref.6). Follow this by holding the ‘Menu/Info’ button
(Ref.7) and the screen should then display “DAB
The unit will then start scanning up the frequency band and store all stations that have a good signal. Please note: ensure that you are in an area with signal bars displaying.
The radio will automatically save all those stations that have a strong signal. After searching has finished it will automatically play the first station stored.
To listen to any of the stations that have been stored, use the
‘Next’ and ‘Prev’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to navigate through the stations. Press
‘Select/Preset’ to make your station selection.
When you turn the radio on it will automatically tune to the same station (DAB, FM and MP3) that was last selected.
DAB/DAB+ Preset Stations
How to preset a radio station
Up to 10 preset stations can be set. To store a station that you are currently
playing:
To make your first preset station, press and hold the
‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.2) until “Preset Store <1: (Empty)”
shows on the screen.
Select Preset 1 for the chosen station by pressing ‘Select/Preset’ to confirm.
The display will then show “Preset 01 Stored”.
To set more preset stations, repeat the above process but use the ‘Previous’ or ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.3/4) when you are at the preset store number selection stage to change the number you want to store the station as.
How to play a preset radio station
Press the ‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.2) to display
“Preset Recall” settings.
Use the ‘Previous’ or ‘Next’ button (Ref.3/4) to scroll through your preset
stations.
Press the ‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button to select your choice.
DAB/DAB+ Station Information
When on a DAB station with signal, you are able to find out station information available. Press the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.7) repeatedly to show the programme information.
- Signal Strength Bar: Displays a signal bar with the strength of the current station
- PTY (Programme Type): Shows the type and description of the programme provided by the DAB station. DAB Multiplex: Shows DAB multiplex for that station
- Channel number and Frequency: Displays the station’s transmission channel number and frequency Signal Error: Provides details of the signal error rate
- Bit Rate: The data range which the signal is being transmitted Time: Displays the time
- Date: Displays the date
- Dynamic Label Segment (DLS): Displays scrolling text information supplied by the broadcaster
DAB/DAB+ Settings
- When on DAB mode, press and hold the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.7) to begin accessing DAB settings.
- Scroll through the ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to browse through the following options. Press the ‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.2) to select an option:
- Full Scan: Complete a full rescan of available DAB stations
- Manual Tune: Scroll through the stations available with channel number and their frequency
- DRC (Dynamic Range Compression): Select to compress an audio’s dynamic range
- Prune: Deletes stations that are no longer transmitting or have moved frequency
- Settings: Choose settings to go to the radio settings. There are options such as: Time/Date, Set Backlight, Set Brightness, Language, Factory Reset, SW version. Please refer to later in the manual for guidance with these settings.
FM Radio
FM Scan
Press the ‘Mode/Key’ button (Ref.6) to switch to FM radio. The first time you
do this, FM frequency “87.50MHz” will be displayed on the screen. To autoscan
to the next available station, press and hold the ‘Next’ button (Ref.3). To
autoscan to previous available station, press and hold the ‘Previous’ button
(Ref.4).
After searching has finished the unit will automatically play the first
station stored with a good signal.
How to tune a frequency manually
To listen to a specific frequency, you can press the ‘Next’ and
‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4) multiple times to browse slowly up the bandwidth.
FM Radio Presets
How to preset a radio station
Up to 10 preset stations can be set. To store a station that you are currently
playing:

‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.2) until “Preset Store <1: (Empty)”
shows on the screen.

When on a FM station with signal, you are able to find out station information
available. Press the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.7) repeatedly to show the

FM Settings
When on FM mode, press and hold the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.7) to begin
accessing FM settings.
Scroll through the ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to browse through
the following options. Press the ‘Select/Preset’ button (Ref.2) to select an
option:
Scan setting: Choose whether you would like the radio to scan for strong
stations or all stations available
Audio setting: Choose between stereo or mono
Settings: Choose settings to go to the radio settings. There are options
such as: Time/Date, Set Backlight, Set Brightness, Language, Factory Reset, SW
version. Please refer to later in the manual for guidance with these settings.
Micro SD Card Playback
- Press the ‘Mode/Key’ button (Ref.6) multiple times until “SD” is shown on the display to indicate MP3 SD card mode.
- Insert the micro SD card into the SD card reader slot (Ref.8) on the right side of the radio. Push it in and it will click into place. To remove the SD card, push it in and it will click out of the radio.
- The unit will automatically start reading the SD card and playing your first track.
- To scroll through available tracks, use the ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4). To play the track, press the ‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.2). You can also pause the track by pressing this button whilst a song is playing.
- If you have created folders for albums or playlists on the SD card, you can also browse between these on the radio. To do this, press and hold the ‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.2) to show the current folder the music is playing from. Follow by pressing and holding the ‘Select/Preset/Play/Pause’ button for the second time to go to the main “Folder menu” where you can scroll through your folders using the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4).
- When you switch your radio off and back on again to use it, the MP3 function will automatically play the last song you were listening to.
Radio Settings
When on either of the two modes, DAB or FM, access the radio settings by
holding down the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.7).
Scroll through using the ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to the
‘Settings’ option. Select with the ‘Select/Preset’ button (Ref.2).
In settings the following options will display:
Time/Date
On first use of the DAB radio, the time and date will automatically set. If
you wish to manually set the time and date, select this option. The below
options will then display:
Set Time/Date: Set the time first, followed by the date. Use the ‘Next’ and
‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to scroll up and down the date and time and press
the ‘Select/Preset’ button (Ref.2) to confirm after each setting made. Once
complete it will display “Time/Date Saved”
Auto update: If DAB mode not yet scanned, you can do an automatic set of the
clock and date.
Set 12/24 hour: Decide between a 12 hour or 24 hour clock.
Set Date format: Browse between a variety of date formats: DD- MM-YY and MM-
DD-YY.
Set Backlight
Use the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to set how long you would like
the radio’s backlight to display before going to
a lower dimmer setting. Decide between the following lengths of time: 10, 20,
30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, 300 seconds and confirm your selection by pressing
the ‘Select/Preset’ (Ref.2) button.
Set Brightness
Use the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to choose between three
different brightness settings for your radio display screen: OFF, Low, Medium,
High. Select your chosen brightness with the ‘Select/Preset’ button (Ref.2)
Language
Choose your chosen language by using the ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ buttons
(Ref.3/4) to scroll through. Use the ‘Select/Preset’ button (Ref.2) to confirm
your selection.
Factory Reset
When you are on settings for the radio, select the option for Factory Reset.
The radio will then display: “Factory Reset?” with the options of “Yes” or
“No”. Use the ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.3/4) to scroll to your chosen
option and click the ‘Select/Preset’ button (Ref.2) to confirm.
SW Version (Software)
Select the option of “SW version” to view the software version of the radio.
Lock/Unlock function
Press and hold the ‘Mode/Key’ button(Ref.6). The screen will then display “Key
locked”. Press and hold again to unlock and revert your radio to normal
function.
Charging the radio
Connect the USB cable (supplied) with the small end into the charging port at
the side of the radio (Ref.5) . Then connect the end of the USB cable into a
free USB port on your computer or another mains charger (not supplied). From
low, the battery can take up to two hours for a full charge – please refer to
the charging icon on the display screen.
Once charged, the radio will have 10-12 hours of battery portability.
The radio has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Voltage DC5V, current
500mA.
Troubleshooting
Malfunction | Possible causes/measures |
---|---|
No power / function | Check that the radio is charging and use when fully |
charged.
Ensure radio is switched on by holding down the ON/OFF button.
No stations received| Please use the earphones provided as these are your external aerial. These should help to pick up DAB/DAB+, time and date etc.
If you are using the earphones or alternative aerial earphones, please move location and try rescanning for available stations.
No sound| Check whether unit is set to MUTE or not. A station may not be tuned
in. Do a rescan of the DAB or FM mode and ensure that you are in an area with
good signal.
Device not working| Perform a reset of the radio and try rescanning for DAB
and FM stations.
My radio is displaying “F/W Update Mode”| If the radio is switched off and you
press the ‘Select’ button as you turn the radio back on, the radio will go
into this update mode. To stop this update mode, insert
a pin into the ‘Reset’ port into the back of the radio. This will remove this F/W Update Mode screen.
