BASIC BRAKE BLEEDER KIT OPERATIONS

IDENTIFICATION

Note: Not all vehicles are suitable for use with pressure brake bleeding machinery. You MUST check with the vehicle manufacturer BEFORE use or serious damage/dangerous loss of braking system may occur. Draper Tools Limited can not be held responsible for the incorrect use or application of this tool.

  • Some vehicles may be required to be put into “service mode”. Always check with the manufacturer before proceeding.
  • Fill the pressure bleeder at the cap (3) with new, clean brake fluid of the correct type for the vehicle you are working on.
  • Refit the cap firmly (be careful not to overtighten.
  • Place the container in an upright secure position.
  • Remove the cap from the vehicle brake fluid reservoir.
  • Check the level of the brake fluid and top up to the maximum line if necessary.
  • Fit the brake bleed adaptor (11) with the quick connector (10) over the reservoir neck.
  • Attach air line to air intake valve (5) and pressurise to 20psi (do not exceed 20psi).
  • If the system does not hold the pressure, re-check the connections, tighten and try again.
  • The system is now primed and ready for the brakes to be bled without fear of bleeding them dry.
  • Bleeding the brakes: This is a general description of how to bleed brakes. This may differ from vehicle to vehicle. Always check with vehicle manufacturer’s or Haynes manual on correct procedure.
♦ You may need another person to do this, as the brake pedal may need to be depressed firmly (check with vehicle manufacturer).
♦  Repeat the following procedure on all wheels starting at the wheel furthest from the brake reservoir and work back to the closest.
    (Confirm bleeding process with manufacturer).
    ♦  Wipe each bleeding screw.
♦ Place the plastic hose from the bleeding bottle (8) over the bleed screw.
♦ With a brake spanner (to avoid damage to the screw) loosen the bleed screw by 11/4. turn to release the old brake fluid.
♦ As the brake fluid is discharged through the brake nipple the pressure in the system will top up fresh fluid from the fluid container.
♦ Check the pressure on the gauge (2). If this has dropped, build up any lost pressure. Check the brake fluid for air bubbles. Once clean, clear fluicf is flawing through,
re-tighten to close the bleed screw.
♦ If required, release the pressure on the brake pedal. NOTE: Do not release the brake pedal when the screw is open as this will draw air into the system. Repeat an all wheels.
♦  When the job is complete depress the pressure valve ( 14 ) to release pressure.
♦  Check the pressure has been released from the container.
♦ Carefully disconnect the hoses and all connections.

Note: Alternatively, mechanics may utilise “adaptor cap (1) to push down the rubber.
Simply install this adaptor on the filler neck and blow air inside by air gun. The rubber will be pushed downward by air.
Using reservoir syringe adjust brake fluid level.
♦ Before you drive the car make sure all bleed screws are tight, wheels are secured correctly and the brakes have been checked and offer the correct response.
