When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed. These instructions should be saved for future reference:
- Read and familiarise yourself with all operating instructions before using this Vacuum Cleaner.
- Before plugging your unit into the mains, visually check that the unit is intact and has not suffered any transit damage.
- Check that the voltage indicated on the data plate corresponds with that of the local network before connecting the appliance to the main power supply.
- This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years when it is energized or cooling down.
- Do not immerse the appliance or its cord in water or any other liquids.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the main supply.
- Do not use this appliance outdoors.
- It is imperative to unplug the power cord after the appliance has been used before it is cleaned, and whilst being repaired.
- Repairs to electrical appliances should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Improper repairs may place users at serious risk.
- Do not operate this appliance with a damaged plug or cord, after a malfunction or after being dropped or damaged in any way.
- Regular, periodic checks should be carried out on the main cable to
- ensure no damage is evident. Should there be any signs of damage the appliance should not be used.
- If the power cable is damaged, it should only be replaced by the manufacturer or a suitably qualified after-sales-service in order to avoid a hazard
- Do not allow the main cable to hang over sharp edges or come in contact with hot surfaces.
- Allow the unit to cool before storage.
- Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the mains supply and allow to cool.
- This appliance is intended for household use only and should not be used for industrial purposes.
- Do not use any accessories or attachments with this appliance other than those supplied or recommended by the supplier.
- Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.
- Do not push objects into any openings as damage to the appliance and/or electric shock may occur.
- Unplug after each use. Grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not pull or carry the Vacuum Cleaner by the electrical cord, use the handle provided.
- Ensure fingers and other objects are never placed in any part of the vacuum cleaner. Clothing or hair may become trapped if the vacuum is used improperly.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, jewelry, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
- Keep all air vents clear and free of dust, lint, hair, and anything else that may reduce airflow.
- Avoid directing the appliance towards naked flames as the air discharged may extinguish gas fires or pilot lights and may disturb ashes in open fires.
- Do not Vacuum water or any other liquids with this vacuum.
- Do not Vacuum hot ashes or lit cigarettes, etc.

Assembling Your Vacuum Cleaner
CAUTION Ensure that the vacuum cleaner is not connected to the mains supply
before using the attachments.
Attaching the Flexible Hose (14) to the vacuum
Attach the Flexible Hose (14) to the vacuum cleaner by pushing the Hose
Connector (15) into the Air Intake (10) until it clicks home, arrowed below:

NB to remove the hose, press the catches on either side (arrowed below)
of the Hose Connector (15) and pull out of the Air Intake (10):

Attaching the Telescopic Tube (18) and Floor Tool (12)

Push the Telescopic Tube (18) onto the Hose tool connector (17) as shown below left:

Extend the Telescopic Tube (18) to the desired length by pushing the catch down and extending.

Attach the Floor Tool (12) to the other end as shown above

Using Your Vacuum Cleaner
- Pull the Mains Cable and Plug (5) fully out of the vacuum cleaner, do not use the vacuum without pulling the cable all the way out.
- Insert the mains plug into the nearest socket.
- Press the On/off Switch (2) to power up the vacuum.
NB Adjust the lever on the Floor Tool (12) according to the type of floor
being cleaned. Push the lever down for use on hard floors (i.e. non carpeted,
laminated, tiled, etc.), pull the lever up for vacuum cleaning carpets:

Using the Crevice & Upholstery multi-tool (13)
Attach the Crevice & Upholstery multi-tool (13) onto the Telescopic Tube (18)
to clean carpet edges, upholstered furniture, and hard to get at areas:
Left: Attached is the Crevice & Upholstery multi-tool to clean carpet edges
Right: Fold the brush down to clean hard to get at areas and upholstery.
NB If the Telescopic Tube (18) is not required, the Crevice & Upholstery multi-tool (13) or the Floor tool (12) can attach directly to the Hose tool connector (17) on the end of the flexible hose, this is useful whilst cleaning soft furnishings, stairs, etc. as below:

Using the Hose and Pet Brush (19)
For difficult to remove soiling on upholstery such as pet hairs, the pet brush
can be used.
This should be fitted onto the hose as shown above.
The fixed combs and rotating pneumatic brush clean up the stubborn or matted
hairs.
Using the Power/Speed Controller (4)
This control is useful for varying the suction power. Rotate the control
anticlockwise to reduce power whilst cleaning hard floors or similar and
rotate clockwise to increase the suction power for carpets, rugs, etc.
NB vacuum power can also be varied using the Air Control Valve (16) on a
flexible hose.
Emptying and Cleaning Your Vacuum Cleaner
WARNING Always disconnect the cleaner from the mains power supply before
cleaning.
WARNING do not continue to use your vacuum cleaner once the Dust Bag Full Indicator (8) turns red as permanent damage may occur to the appliance.

Once the Dust Bag Full Indicator (8) turns red as shown left, the dust bag will need replacing and the filters cleaned.

To remove the bag, lift the Dust Compartment Release Catch (1).

lift the dust compartment cover to reveal the dust bag holder.

Lift out the dust bag holder and dust bag as shown below:

Push the bag retaining clip forwards as shown right (a.). Slide the card front of the bag out of the dust bag holder (b.) and dispose of the used dust bag. Slide the card front of the new dust bag into the dust bag holder ensuring the retaining clip locks the card into place.

Whilst replacing the dust bag, slide out the dust compartment filter as shown a. & b. right. Wash the filter in warm running water until clean. Allow the filter to dry thoroughly for 24 hours before replacing and reusing:

Finally, push the latch down on the rear air outlet & filter (3) cover as shown in a, b, & c below. Remove the filter and wash clean in warm running water ensuring it is thoroughly dry for 24 hours before replacing and reusing:
Care and Use of your Vacuum Cleaner
WARNING Always disconnect the cleaner from the mains power supply before
cleaning.
- Clean outside of the cleaner with a clean damp cloth. Never clean with harsh or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not submerge the cleaner in water or any other liquids.
- Empty the dust bag as soon as the dust bag full indicator (8) turns red.*
- Wash the dust compartment and rear air outlet filters regularly – see table below.
- Allow all the filters to thoroughly dry out for 24 hours before reassembly and use.
*WARNING do not continue to use your vacuum cleaner once the dust bag full indicator (8) turns red as permanent damage may occur to the appliance.

WARNING Ensure the filters are cleaned periodically according to the table above, failure to clean the filters regularly will severely impair the performance and permanent damage may occur to the appliance.
Fitting a new plug
The mains lead must be connected as shown below. The wires are colored with
the following code – Brown wire = Live (L), Blue wire = Neutral (N).
NB no connection must be made to the Earth (E) terminal.
- The Blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N or colored Black.
- The Brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L or colored Red.
- Check that there are no cut or stray strands of wire inside the plug.
- Use a 13 Amp BS 1362 fuse, only use BSI or ASTA-approved fuses.
- If you are in any way unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to a qualified electrician.
- After replacing or changing a fuse on a molded plug, the cover must be refitted to the plug; the appliance must not be used without a fuse cover.

Troubleshooting Guide
