IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

PREPARING FOR USE

Unpacking and Setup

  • Carefully remove the unit from the display carton and remove all packing material from the unit itself.
  • Remove any descriptive labels that may be found on either the front or top cabinet of the unit. Do not remove any labels located on either the back or button cabinet of the unit.
  • Press the CD door OPEN button to open the CD compartment door. There is a white card in the CD compartment which is intended to prevent the CD pickup from moving during shipment of the product. Remove this card from the CD compartment before use.

  • Please pull out the plastic paper from the battery door before using the remote control.
  • In case the remote control operation becomes unstable or the distance from which the remote control works is shorter; replace the batteries with new ones.
  • To use the remote control unit, always point at the REMOTE SENSOR and
  • Remote control operations are possible within approximately 18ft (6m). However, since the remote control range shortens when the unit is used at an angle, it is recommended to use it directly in front of the REMOTE SENSOR for a better performance.
  • Do not expose the REMOTE SENSOR to strong light (direct sunlight or REMOTE SENSOR and the remote control.

BATTERY INSTALLATION FOR POWER BACKUP

In the case of a Power failure, the Power backup will keep the Clock & Alarm times accurate until the main power has been restored.
NOTE: the product will operate properly with or without batteries except in the case of power loss.

  • Open the Battery Cover on the bottom of the unit.
  • Insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) following the +/- polarity as indicated in the compartment.
  • Close the Battery Cover.

NOTE: Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly.Installing batteries with incorrect polarity (+ or -) may damage the unit and void the warranty. For the best performance and longer operating time, we recommend using good quality Super Alkaline type batteries.
NOTE:

  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmi-um) batteries.
  • If the unit is not going to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries from the unit.
  • Old or leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
  • Do not dispose of batteries in fire as batteries may explode or lead

SETTING THE ALARM

To setup the alarm of the unit:

  • Turn the unit’s power OFF before setting the alarm.
  • Press the Alarm / Volume (-) button on the main unit. The Hour number will begin blinking.
  • Use the Next / Fast Forward button or the Previous / Rewind button to choose which type of alarm you would like to set from the list below:
    • “BU” – Buzzer alarm
    • “RAD” – Radio alarm (Tune the radio to the station you desire for the alarm)
    • “CD” – CD alarm (Insert the CD you desire for the alarm. The alarm will BEGIN WITH THE FIRST TRACK
  • Note – CD) on the LCD display, indicating that the alarm is set.
    Alarm / Volume (-) button on the main unit until the alarm icon disappears from the LCD display screen.

BLUETOOTH® FUNCTION

  1. Turn your Bluetooth device OFF and back ON to refresh the device’s Blue-tooth memory.
  2. Find the Bluetooth menu on your device and make sure the Bluetooth func-tion is turned ON.
  3. Press the Source button on the main unit until “BT” is shown on the LCD display screen.
  4. On your external Blutooth device, begin a search for nearby Blutooth devic-es.
  5. Select “NAXA NS-443” from the devices list and click to pair.
  6. If your Bluetooth device asks for a password, enter “0000” and the device will pair with the NS-443 unit. The “BT” icon on the LCD display screen will stop blinking.
  7. If supported by your Bluetooth device, set the NS-443 as “authorized” in the Bluetooth menu.

NOTE: Most Bluetooth devices will automatically connect when in ranged after an initial successful pairing. If you wish to unpair a device, you can either use the Bluetooth menu on your Bluetooth device or press and hold the Play / Pause / Pair button on the main unit. This will unpair the current device and allow for a new device to be paired following the steps listed above.

RADIO FUNCTION

To listen to the AM / FM Radio:

  1. Press the Source button until “RAD” is shown on the LCD display screen.
  2. You can also select either AM or FM modes by using the Source button on the main unit.
  3. Turn the Tuning Knob to select your desired radio station.

NOTE: The AM antenna is built-in to the cabinet of the unit. To improve reception, you must move the entire unit until reception improves. It may be necessary to move the unit to a new location entirely (ex. near a window) for and improved reception.

PLAYING A CD

To listen to a CD using the NS-443, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Source button until the unit enters CD mode.
  2. Lightly press down on the CD door to open the door.
  3. Insert a CD with the label side facing up.
  4. Gently close the CD door.
  5. Press the Play / Pause / Pair button on the main unit or the Play / Pause / Pair button on the remote control to begin CD playback.
  6.  Press the Play / Pause / Pair button on the main unit or the Play / Pause / Pair button on the remote control again to momentarily pause playback.
  7. To stop playback, press the Stop / Dimmer button on the main unti or the Stop button on the remote control.

During playback you can use the Previous or Next buttons to select a particu- lar track. If you have selected a track number while in stop or pause position, press repeatedly until the desired track number appears on the display. Press Previous twice to access to the previous track.

Finding a passage within a track

  1. Press and hold down the Previous or Next button. The CD will move at higher speed.
  2. When you recognize the passage you want, simply release the Previous or Next button.

Playback modes: repeat, repeat all, random.

  •  REP: Press the Repeat button while the track you wish to repeat is playing. “REP” icon will appear on the LCD display screen. To cancel a repeat, press the Repeat button 3 times until “REP” disappears from the LCD display.
  • REP ALL: Press the Repeat button twice during playback. “REP ALL” icon will appear on the LCD display screen. To cancel, press the Repeat button 2 times until the “REP ALL” icons disappears from the LCD display.
  • RAND: To play tracks in random order, press the Repeat button 3 times during playback. “RAND” icon will appear on the LCD display screen. To cancel, press the Repeat button once, “RAND” will disappear from LCD display.

CD PLAYER & CD HANDLING

  1. The lens of the CD player should never be touched!
  2. Sudden changes in the surrounding temperature can cause condensation. to form and the lens of your CD player or cloud over. Playing a CD is then not possible. Do not attempt to clean the lens but leave the set in a warm environment until the moisture evaporates.
  3. Always close the CD door to keep the CD compartment dust-free. To clean, dust the compartment with a soft dry cloth.
  4. To clean the CD, wipe in a straight line from the center towards the edge using a soft, lint-free cloth.
  5. Do not use cleaning agents as they may damage the disc.
  6. Never write on a CD or attach any stickers to it.

AUX-IN FUNCTION

The NS-443 includes an Aux in jack which enables connection to any external audio device such as MP3, Discman, or Walkman.

  1. Connect your external audio device to the AUX in of the micro system by inserting one end of a 3.5mm auxiliary cable into the Aux-In Jack of the main unit and the other end into the headphone jack or audio output of the external media device.
  2. Press the Source button until the “AUX” icon is shown on the LCD display screen.
  3. Use the controls of the connected device to control audio playback.

NOTE: When you are not using the AUX function, it is recommended that you remove the 3.5mm auxiliary cable from the Aux-In Jack of NS-443.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Remove Aux cable from input jack.

Noise or sound distort- ed on radio| AM or FM station not tuned.

Poor radio reception.

| Retune AM or FM broadcast station. Rotate unit until best reception is obtained.
