General description

DANGER

Do not submerge the appliance in water.
Do not put excessive amounts of food or packages wrapped in aluminium foil into the appliance, as this may cause a fire or an electric shock.

WARNINGS

  • Before using the appliance for the first time, carefully read this instruction manual and save it for future reference.
  • Before connecting the appliance to the power mains make sure the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance matches the voltage of your local power mains.
  • This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they are supervised during the use of the appliance or if they have been provided relevant instructions regarding the use of the appliance in a safe way and they understand the hazards involved.
  • Keep children under supervision while they are using the appliance and make sure they do not play with it. Make sure they do not insert any objects into the appliance.
  • Children should not perform any cleaning or maintenance tasks on the appliance, unless they are at least 8 years old.
  • Never leave the appliance to operate unattended.
  • Do not use the appliance near or under curtains or near other flammable materials. Also, do not use it under wallmounted furniture, as this could result in fire.
  • DO not cover the appliance or place any other objects onto it when it is switched on or hot, since it can be damaged or this could result in a fire.
  • To prevent the risk of fire, regularly remove the breadcrumbs from the crumb tray.
  • Make sure the crumb tray is properly installed.
  • If you notice fire or smoke, immediately disconnect the appliance from the power mains.
  • Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces.
  • If the power cord is damaged, it may only be replaced by Gorenje, Gorenje’s authorized service and repair centre, or an adequately trained professional.
  • The appliance is intended exclusively for toasting bread. To avoid danger, do not place any other ingredients into it.
  • Never store the appliance in a way that would make it possible for it to drop into a bathtub or a sink.
  • Never touch the appliance if it was dropped into water. In such case, immediately remove the plug from the electrical outlet.
  • Never use the appliance if your hands are wet or damp, and never touch the power cord plug with wet or damp hands.
  • Do not use the appliance with an external timer, a night-time timer, or a separate remote-control system.
  • Make sure the power cord does not hang over the edge of the table or worktop onto which the appliance is placed.
  • Metal parts of the toaster may become very hot during use; therefore, do not touch them. Only touch the control buttons.
  • Do not place the appliance on a hot surface.
  • Only connect the appliance to a grounded power outlet.
  • The appliance is intended exclusively for use in households, and it may only be used indoors. It is not intended for any industrial use or application, such as commercial/business use, any application similar to household use, such as in employee kitchens at shops, offices and other commercial premises, agricultural business, or for use by guests at hotels, motels, bed and breakfast type environments, or any other similar establishments offering accommodation.
  • Only use the appliance as described in these instructions for use. Any other use is not in compliance with the appliance’s purpose and may lead to damage or even physical injury. The appliance is not a children’s toy.
  • If a slice of bread is stuck inside the appliance, disconnect the appliance from the power mains and wait for it to cool down completely before attempting to remove the slice. Do not use knives or sharp objects as these could damage the heaters.
  • The reheating rack is only intended for reheating bread rolls or croissants. To avoid danger, do not place any other food into it.
  • Unplug the appliance (remove the power cord plug from the electrical outlet) when the appliance is not in use, after each use, before cleaning the appliance or setting it aside, in case of an evident failure during operation, and during a thunderstorm. Only connect the appliance to an easily accessible power outlet so that it can be quickly disconnected from the power mains in case of failure.

This equipment is labelled in compliance with the European Directive 2012/19/EC on waste electric and electronic equipment – WEEE. The Directive specifies the requirements for collection and management of waste electric and electronic equipment effective in the entire European Union.

BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Take the appliance from its packaging and clean it with a damp cloth.
Before using the appliance for the first time, we recommend running it at the highest browning level without any bread slices in it, in an adequately ventilated room. Repeat the process three times. Each time, wait for the appliance to switch off and cool down somewhat. This will remove any dust from the heaters and prevent any unpleasant odours during use of the appliance.

USING THE APPLIANCE

  1. Place the appliance on a level and stable surface, away from curtains and other flammable objects or substances. Insert the plug into an electrical outlet.
  2. Before each use, unwind the power cord completely.

Toasting bread
Never leave the appliance to operate unattended.

  1. Insert one or two slices of bread into the slots.

  2. Start the toasting process by pushing the toasting lever downwards. The lever will only stay in a lowered position if the appliance is connected to power mains.
    All control lights will light up for a brief moment; then, only the control light on browning level 3 will be lit.

  3. Use the browning control buttons 1–6 to adjustthe level of browning. Setting 1 means lightly toasted, and setting 6 means thoroughly toasted bread.
    Metal parts of the toaster will become very hot during use; therefore, do not touch them.

  4. When the toasted bread is ready, it will be ejected from the slot and the appliance will switch off automatically. Toasting process can be stopped and cancelled at any time by pressing the cancel button (X). When the cancel button is pressed, the bread will be ejected from the appliance.
    If the bread is stuck inside the appliance, unplug the power cord, wait for the appliance to cool down completely, and then carefully remove the bread. Do not use a knife or other metal objects to do so and do not touch the metal parts in the appliance interior.

Baking frozen bread
Note: Baking frozen bread takes longer than baking defrosted bread.

  1. Insert one or two slices of frozen bread into the appliance.

  2. Press the toasting lever down. All control lightswill light up for a brief moment; then, only the control light on browning level 3 will be lit.
    Press the defrost button.

  3. Browning level can be adjusted by pressing the browning control buttons 1–6.

  4. When the toasted bread is ready, it will be ejected from the slot and the appliance will switch off automatically.

Reheating toasted bread

  1. Insert one or two slices of toasted bread into the appliance.

  2. Press the toasting lever down. All control lightswill light up for a brief moment; then, only the control light on reheating level 3 will be lit.
    Then, press the reheating button.

  3. Reheating level can be adjusted by pressing the control buttons 1–6.

  4. When the toasted bread is ready, it will be ejected from the slot and the appliance will switch off automatically.

Reheating bread rolls and croissants

  1. Press the reheating rack lever down to lift up the reheating rack. Never place the bread rolls or croissants to be reheated directly onto the bread slots on the appliance, without raising the reheating racks first, as this may damage the appliance.
  2. Place the bread rolls or croissants on the reheating rack. Do not reheat more than two pieces at a time.
  3. Switch on the appliance by pushing the toasting lever downwards. All control lights will light up for a brief moment; then, only the control light on reheating level 3 will be lit.
  4. Reheating level can be adjusted by pressing the control buttons 1–6.
  5. To reheat bread rolls or croissants on both sides, turn them around when the appliance switches off. To switch the appliance back on, press the toasting lever down.

CLEANING

  1. Unplug the appliance from the power mains.
  2. Wait for the appliance to cool down completely.
  3. Only use a damp cloth to clean it. Do not clean the appliance with scouring pads, caustic or corrosive cleaners or aggressive liquids like gasoline, or acetone. Do not immerse the appliance in water.
  4. To remove any breadcrumbs from the appliance, pull out the crumb tray and empty it. Never attempt to remove the crumbs from the appliance by turning it upside down and shaking it.

ENVIRONMENT
After the expiry of its useful life, do not discard the appliance with common household waste. Rather, take it to an authorized recycling centre. This will help preserve the environment.
