Safety Notes

• The product is intended for private, non-commercial use only.
• Use the product for its intended purpose only.
• Do not operate the product outside the power limits given in the specifications.
• Protect the product from dirt, moisture, and overheating, and only use it in an adry environment.
• Do not use the product in moist environments and avoid splashes.
• Do not bend or crush the cable.
• Always pull directly on the plug when disconnecting the cable, never on the cable itself.
• Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any major shocks.
• Keep this product, like all electrical products, out of the reach of children!
• Dispose of packaging material immediately according to locally applicable regulations.
• Do not modify the product in any way. Doing so voids the warranty.

Warning

• Do not place the product near interference fields, metal frames, computers, TVs, etc. Electronic devices and window frames can negatively affect the functionality of the product.
• Do not continue to operate the device if it becomes visibly damaged.

 Connection and getting started

Warning

• The hard drive adapter may only be used with the included plug-in power supply.
• Pay close attention to the power and voltage information on the hard drive adapter if you decide to use another power supply unit.
• The power supply unit’s power data must correspond to the specified parameters
• Make sure that all cables are unplugged from the hard drive adapter before connecting.
• Attach the hard drive adapter to the hard drive
• Place the harddrive on a level, stable and non-metal surface
• Connect the power supply unit to the hard drive adapter
• Then connect the power supply unit to an unused socket
• Connect the included USB 3.1 cable to the hard drive adapter and an unused USB port on your PC/ notebook.

Warning

• The hard drive may not be moved after connecting the power supply unit to the socket. This could result in damage to the hard drive and data loss.
• The hard drive adapter may not be unplugged from the PC during data transfer under any circumstance. Data may be lost.
• Under no circumstance does Hama GmbH &Co KG accept liability for loss of data stored on data storage media.
• The operating system of your PC /notebook will initialize the hard drive after connecting. This process may take aminute.
• If the harddrive is already partitioned and data is on the harddrive, you can then access that data.
• New or unpartitioned harddrives must be partitioned and formated after initialisation. Refer to the operating system manual for your computer/notebook for the necessary steps to do so.
