respectively. The filters are equipped with a filter foam set for mechanical
filtration, and you can optionally add biological filter media (activated
carbon, Crystal Clear, or CrystalMax).
Installation
-
Rinse the filter and all parts with clean tap water to remove any dirt and residues.
Fig. A Open the filter, lift the four handles. Make sure that all four handles are in the outward position and free from the hinges. -
Remove the grids and filter foam from the filter and rinse them clean.
-
If you want to add biological filter media, place it in a filter bag at the bottom of the filter.
Fig. B Place the bottom grid correctly into the filter, then place the filter foam-set in the correct order (first white filter wool, next to the black sponge, followed by the yellow sponge and the blue sponge) now place the top grid, so there is space between the lid and the foam set.
Fig. C Install the outlet U-pipe (g) and either the spray bar (i) or the jet spray (h) in the aquarium. -
Install the Inlet tube(f) to make sure it has the desired height.
Fig. D Turn the inlet connector (a) on the filter cover and make sure the valve is closed.
Fig. E Connect a hose between the inlet pipe (f), secure the hose with the hose clamp and the inlet connector (a) of the filter, secure the hose with the nut on the connector. -
Connect a hose to the outlet of the filter pump (d) and secure the hose with the nut on the pump.
-
Fill the filter with clean tap water up to the top.
-
Close the filter and make sure that the rubber seal in the lid is in the right position. Place the handles correctly on the lid edge and click into place.
-
Check all connections to avoid leakage!
-
Open the valve on the inlet connector.
Fig. F Suck the outlet hose fitted to the pump until it is completely filled with aquarium water. -
Close the valve.
-
Connect the outlet hose to the Outlet U-Bar (g) (secure the hose with the hose clamp).
-
Open the valve and plug the pump into mains, the filter will start working and the water will circulate.
-
If the aquarium water does not start flowing, check if the filter pot is filled with water and repeat filling the hose with aquarium water, check all connections to make sure that they are securely fastened.
-
The pump will initially make some noise (air resonance). The air will be out of the system after approx 24 hours.
Maintenance
-
Clean filter 1 x per month or as soon as there is a significant flow decrease indicating that the filter needs cleaning.
-
Turn off the filter by unplugging it from the power socket.
-
Close the valve on the inlet connector, disconnect the filter for cleaning.
-
Never use chemicals for cleaning, make sure buckets, tools and sponges are free of chemicals.

-
Make sure that the top rim of the canister is clean and free of any debris before re-installing the filter cover.
Fig. G Also checks the operation of the rotor, especially if it makes a noise. -
