Installation

  1. For optimum audibility of the high frequencies we recommend installing the tweeter of the studio monitors at face level; if necessary use an appropriate speaker stand. Be sure to use an even, stable underground; if necessary, use sound cushioning material.
  2. These speakers are near-field monitors which can be set up at a short distance to the listener.
  3. To avoid reflection from walls that are too close (e.g. room corners), turn the speakers slightly towards you. To optimize your ambiance acoustics, you may use sound-absorbing plates.

Close-Field Installation

[SKIZZE Installation 1 – siehe Skizze Zenit Lautsprecher]
In control rooms, monitor speakers are usually placed on the studio console (face level). For this purpose, the monitors and the listener’s position should be set up in an isosceles triangle, i.e. at an angle of 60° to the listening position.

Mid-Field Installation

[SKIZZE Installation 2 – siehe Skizze Zenit Lautsprecher]
This installation is more or less the same as the close-field installation. This variant is usually used if the monitors are too large or heavy to be placed on the studio console. This setup offers a larger sweet spot and better spatial acoustic imaging. In this installation, the monitors’ woofer should be positioned above the height of the studio console.

  1. Connect the two loudspeakers using the supplied loudspeaker cable and the terminals provided -1-/ -6-. Insert the core wires into the terminals while pressing the claw on the speaker terminal.
  2. Connect your signal source to the signal input socket -2-(RCA). In addition, you are able to connect an external subwoofer via the Subwoofer connection socket -3-(3.5 mm jack).
  3. Connect the mains cable socket -4-with the mains cable supplied and plug it into your mains socket.

Operation

  1. Set the volume control to the minimum position Before you switch on the unit, turn the volume control -12-to the minimum position (control to the left).
  2. Switch on the power After all connections have been made, switch on the unit with the On/Off switch -5-.
  3. Volume control Adjust the volume with the volume control knob -12-.
  4. Select signal input You have the choice between 2 possible signal input sources:

RCA -2 Bluetooth -7

To connect a playback device via RCA, please connect the RCA cable of your external player to the RCA sockets -2-of the DSM-3 BT Monitor 1 provided for this purpose.

NOTE Please make sure that the signal of your selected player is sufficient. Some players, such as various turntables may require a pre- amplifier for direct connection in order to obtain a sufficient signal.

When using a Bluetooth player, first activate the Bluetooth function of the desired device and then press the Bluetooth pairing button -7-on your DSM-3 BT monitor 1. When the DSM-3 BT appears on your Bluetooth device, press connect. As long as you are in pairing mode, the Bluetooth pairing LED -8-flashes. As soon as the connection is established, the Bluetooth pairing LED -8-lights up continuously. To establish the connection to a new Bluetooth device, press the Bluetooth pairing button -7-again to cancel the active Bluetooth connection and return to pairing mode. Then repeat the procedure described above.

Sound Control

Use the Bass -10-and Treble Controllers -11-to lower or raise the low and high frequencies. The ideal adjustment depends on the given accommodations. A heavily dampened room requires raised high frequencies, whereas a reverberant room requires a reduction of the high frequencies.
