Nest Zest Laundry Care

Stain Removal

Ball Pen
For Cashmere, Cotton, Linen, Jeans, Polyester, and Wool:

  1. Begin by blotting the stain with a paper towel to absorb excess ink.
  2. Place the stained item on a clean white cloth.
  3. Dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in surgical spirit (rubbing alcohol).
  4. Follow the care instructions and either hand wash or use a machine on the recommended settings.

For Silk:

  1. Dab the stain with a paper towel to remove excess ink.
  2. Place the silk item on a clean white cloth.
  3. Dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in lemon juice.
  4. Be patient! You may need to repeat this process until the stain disappears.
  5. Wash following the care instructions, using a “silk/delicate cycle” with reduced spinning (max 600 rpm).
    If the stain persists, it’s time to seek help from a professional cleaner.

Chewing Gum
For Cashmere, Cotton, Jeans, Linen, Polyester, Silk, and Wool:

  1. Rub the gum stain with an ice cube to harden it or place the garment in the freezer to achieve the same effect.
  2. Gently remove the chewing gum with a rounded-edge tool.
  3. Proceed with a hand wash or machine wash according to care instructions.

Chocolate
For Cashmere, Silk, and Wool:

  1. Immediately rinse the stain under cold water.
  2. If the chocolate is deeply embedded, scrape off the excess with a rounded-edge tool.
  3. Use a clean sponge with a drop of liquid detergent and cold water to gently rub the stain. Make sure to extend cleaning beyond the stain to avoid a “halo spot,” then rinse.
  4. Follow with a wash according to care instructions.

For Cotton, Jeans, Linen, and Polyester (light-coloured fabric):

  1. Remove excess chocolate from the stain.
  2. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze one half onto the stain. Gently rub it in.
  3. Let it sit for ten minutes, then wash according to care instructions.
  4. If the stain persists, rub it with a clean cloth soaked in white vinegar, then rinse and wash as recommended.

For Other Textiles:

  1. Immediately run the stain under cold water.

  2. If it’s deeply embedded, scrape off the excess with a rounded-edge tool.

  3. Use a clean sponge with a drop of liquid detergent and cold water to gently rub the stain.
    Remember to clean beyond the stain.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with cold water, then machine wash following care instructions.

Deodorant
For Cashmere, Cotton, Jeans, Linen, Polyester, Silk, and Wool:

  1. Place a paper towel on the deodorant stain and iron it.
  2. Follow with a wash according to care instructions.

Coffee
For Cashmere, Jeans, and Wool:

  1. Quickly dab the stain with a clean cloth.
  2. Dab the stain with a mixture of methylated spirit and white vinegar (equal parts).
  3. Wash according to care instructions, either by hand or using a machine.

For Cotton:
White Cotton: Dab the coffee stain as quickly as possible with pure 10-volume hydrogen peroxide and rinse immediately. Then proceed with a normal wash following care instructions.
Coloured Cotton: Dab the stain with a piece of cloth soaked in white vinegar. Rinse with warm water, then wash according to care instructions.

For Linen
Apply a few drops of lemon juice or white vinegar to the stain before rubbing it.
Machine wash normally, following care instructions.

For Polyester

  1. Dab the coffee stain as soon as possible with pure 10-volume hydrogen peroxide and rinse immediately.
  2. Then proceed with a normal wash, following care instructions.

For Silk

  1. Quickly dab the stain with a clean cloth.
  2. Dab with a cotton ball soaked in denatured alcohol diluted in warm water.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and wash according to care instructions, either by hand or using a machine with the “silk/delicate cycle” and reduced spinning (max 600 rpm). Choose a liquid detergent suitable for delicate textiles.

Grass
For Cashmere, Silk, and Wool:

  1. Test this stain removal technique on a hidden part of your garment or product first.
  2. Dab the stain with a white cloth soaked in a mixture of ammonia and water (25% ammonia, 75% water).
  3. Remove the detergent with a damp white cloth.
  4. Wash according to care instructions.

For Jeans and Polyester:

  1. Place the item on a clean white cloth.
  2. Dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in white vinegar or surgical alcohol.
  3. Wash according to care instructions.

For Cotton and Linen (White):

  1. Dab the stain with a white cloth soaked in lemon juice or a mixture of water with a drop of bleach.
  2. Wash your item according to care instructions.

For Coloured Cotton and Linen:

  1. Dab the stain with a white cloth soaked in a little alcohol or white vinegar, diluted in water.
  2. Wash following care instructions.

Oil & Grease

For Cashmere, Jeans, and Wool:

  1. Gently remove residues with a rounded-edge tool.
  2. Apply a small amount of butter or margarine to the stain and leave it for 5 minutes, then remove excess.
  3. For coloured textiles, place the garment on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in soapy water.
  4. For white textiles, place the garment on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in pure white spirit.
  5. Wash according to care instructions.

For Cotton, Linen, Polyester, and Silk:

  1. Gently remove grease residues with a rounded knife blade.
  2. Apply a small amount of butter or margarine to the stain, leave it for 5 minutes, and remove excess with the back of a knife.
  3. Place the garment on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in pure white spirit.
  4. Wash following care instructions.

Red Wine
For Cashmere and Wool (Coloured)

  1. Place the item on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with a cloth soaked in vinegar water (1 tablespoon of vinegar per 250 ml of water).
  2. Hand or machine wash in cold water, as per care instructions.

For Jeans, Cotton, and Linen

  1. Quickly absorb the wine with paper towel.
  2. Sprinkle talc, flour, or corn flour on the stain.
  3. Leave it to dry, then brush.
  4. If the stain persists, dab it with a cloth soaked in milk or rub it with soapy water.
  5. Wash in cold water according to care instructions.

For Polyester (White)

  1. Quickly blot the stain with paper towel.
  2. Sprinkle with talc, flour, or corn flour.
  3. Leave it to dry, then brush.
  4. If the stain persists, dab it with a cloth soaked in milk or rub it with soapy water.
  5. Wash in cold water according to care instructions.

For Polyester (Coloured)

  1. Place the item on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with a cloth soaked in vinegar water (1 tablespoon of vinegar per 250 ml of water).
  2. Wash in cold water following care instructions.

For Silk

  1. Place the item on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with a cloth soaked in vinegar water (1 tablespoon of vinegar per 250 ml of water).
  2. Hand or machine wash in cold water, following care instructions. Use the “silk/delicate cycle” with reduced spinning (max 600 rpm).
  3. If the stain persists, consult a professional cleaner.

Tea
For Cashmere and Wool

  1. Pour a few drops of liquid Marseille soap into a warm (30°C) water bucket or tub and soak your stained garment.
  2. Add a couple more drops on the stain and rub gently.
  3. Soak the garment in the soapy water for 30 minutes, then rinse and wash according to care instructions.

For Cotton and Polyester

  1. Dab the stain with a diluted alcohol solution.
  2. Pour vinegar water on the stain (1 tablespoon of vinegar for 250ml water).
  3. Leave for 10 minutes, then rinse.
  4. Wash following care instructions.

For Jeans

  1. Dab the stain with a diluted alcohol solution.
  2. Absorb the liquid as much as possible with paper towel.
  3. Rub the stain with a white cloth soaked in soapy water (a few drops of liquid Marseille soap diluted in water).
  4. Rinse and, if the stain persists, dab it with vinegar water (1 tablespoon vinegar for 250ml water).
  5. Wash as recommended.

For Linen

  1. Dab the stain with a diluted alcohol solution.
  2. Absorb the liquid as much as possible with a paper towel.
  3. Rub the stain with a cloth soaked in lemon juice or white vinegar.
  4. Wash according to care instructions.

For Silk

  1. Absorb the liquid as much as possible with a paper towel.
  2. Gently dab the stain with a cloth soaked in a mixture of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol.
  3. Rinse with another cloth soaked in water.
  4. Wash according to care instructions.
