Before you begin
What’s in the box

Place the sound bar
For the best listening experience, place the sound bar centered under your TV and flush with the front edge of your cabinet.
• The sound bar can also be mounted on a wall. Refer to the included wall mount template for details.
• For additional wall mounting assistance, refer to the online Owner’s Manual or consult with your local Denon dealer or professional installer. -
Connect the sound bar to your TV

Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the port labeled “eARC” or “ARC” on your TV.

Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the port marked “TV (HDMI eARC/ARC)” on your sound bar.
• If the TV does not have an HDMI labeled “eARC” or “ARC”, connect the sound bar to the TV using the optical cable. Please note that an optical connection does not support Dolby Atmos. -
Connect the power cord to a wall outlet
Connect the included power cord to the sound bar, and insert the plug into an outlet. -
Install batteries in the remote control
Slide off the cover on the back of the remote control and insert the batteries in the proper orientation. -
Setup is now complete!
Turn on your TV and verify that you hear sound playing from the sound bar.
• If you hear an echo or audio coming from the TV’s internal speakers, make sure the TV speakers are switched off in the TV settings menu. Refer to the TV user manual for guidance.

About the status lights
The sound bar lights indicate the power state, input source, audio format
and other status information.
Streaming music via Bluetooth
Before you can stream music from your Bluetooth device to the sound bar, you
must first “pair” the sound bar and your device.

Press the (Bluetooth) button on the sound bar (or remote control) until the Bluetooth light blinks blue. The sound bar enters pairing mode.

Go to the Bluetooth settings on your device, and make sure Bluetooth is turned ON.

Select “Denon DHT-S217”.
The Bluetooth light on the sound bar turns solid blue when pairing is complete.

Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

WARNINGS
NOTES ON USE
- Avoid high temperatures. Allow for sufficient heat dispersion when installed in a rack.
- Handle the power cord carefully. Hold the plug when unplugging the cord.
- Keep the unit free from moisture, water, and dust.
- Unplug the power cord when not using the unit for long periods of time.
- Do not obstruct the ventilation holes.
- Do not let foreign objects into the unit.
- Do not let insecticides, benzene, and thinner come in contact with the unit.
- Never disassemble or modify the unit in any way.
- Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, tablecloths or curtains.
- Naked flame sources such as lighted candles should not be placed on the unit.
- Observe and follow local regulations regarding battery disposal.
- Do not expose the unit to dripping or splashing fluids.
- Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the unit.
- Do not handle the mains cord with wet hands.
- When the switch is in the OFF (STANDBY) position, the equipment is not completely switched off from MAINS.
- The equipment shall be installed near the power supply so that the power supply is easily accessible.
- Do not keep the battery in a place exposed to direct sunlight or in places with extremely high temperatures, such as near a heater.
- Do not bend forcedly the plug on the equipment or the connection between the connector and micro USB/USB cable.

The top surface over the internal heat sink may become hot when operating this
product continuously.
Do not touch hot areas, especially around the “Hot surface mark” and the top
panel.
CAUTION:
To completely disconnect this product from the mains, disconnect the plug from
the wall socket outlet. The mains plug is used to completely interrupt the
power supply to the unit and must be within easy access by the user.
CAUTION:
To prevent electric shock hazard, do not connect to mains power supply while
grille is removed.

Cautions on installation

For proper heat dispersal, do not install this unit in a confined space, such as a bookcase or similar enclosure.
- Amplifier: 0.3 m or more
- Other units: 0.1 m or more
CAUTIONS
When mounting the speakers on a wall
- The speakers can be mounted on a wall using the keyhole hook on its rear panel.
- When you mount the speakers, be sure to install them properly and securely.
- Screw in one self-tapping screw (commercially available, 3/16 inch / 5 mm to 1/4 inch / 6 mm diameter) into a wall that has sufficient strength to support the weight of the speaker, or into reinforcing material on the wall.
- Hook the keyhole hook on the back of the speaker onto the head of the self-tapping screw.
- Check that the head of the self-tapping screw hooks securely into the keyhole hook hole.
- Do not attempt to install this product onto a wall made of material that may crumble easily, such as mortar or decorative plywood. Doing so may result in the screw pulling out and speaker falling, causing damage to the speaker or injury.
- Do not install the speaker using other methods such as nails or double-sided tape. The nails may become loose due to vibration or the double-sided tape may peel off due to prolonged use, causing the speaker to fall.
- Be sure to fix the cables in place so that they cannot be pulled or tripped over by accident.
- Be sure to check that the product is safe after installation. Please note that we cannot accept any liability for accidents, etc. that occur as a result of where or how this product is installed. If you are unsure of how to install this product safely, request a professional contractor do the installation work.
