SAFETY WARNING
Read, understand, and follow your power tool manufacturer’s instructions for safety. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields before commencing power tool operation. Always keep hands, face, hair, loose clothing, and body at a safe distance from spindles and cutting tools. Always keep a firm grip on tool handles when in operation. Always disconnect from power source before adjusting power tools.
USING THE EuroHingeJig
-
Turn the hinge jig over and remove the Allen key, pilot drill bit, and edge locator pin (see img. 1). These items are housed in the hinge jig body when not in use.
-
Turn the jig right-side up. Remove the drill guide from the jig and the stop collar from the EuroHingeBit.
NOTE: ONLY USE THE INCLUDED MILESCRAFT 35MM EuroHingeBit.
-
Insert the EuroHingeBit into the drill guide and place the stop collar onto the bit shank (see img. 2). FOLLOW YOUR HINGE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS TO DETERMINE THE DEPTH SETTING.
-
The jig has two built-in depth-stop settings for the most common hinge cup depths. Place the drill bit shank and stop collar in the appropriate built-in depth setting and use the included hex screw to tighten the stop collar (see img. 3).
NOTE: FOLLOW YOUR HINGE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS TO DETERMINE HINGE CUP LOCATION. IF CONVERSION IS GIVEN IN A FRACTION, PLEASE SEE IMG. 5A FOR CONVERSION CHART. IF HINGE DIRECTIONS ARE BASED ON THE CENTER OF THE HINGE CUP, SEE IMG. 5B FOR EDGE ALIGNMENT KNOB SETTINGS. -
Determine the distance of the hinge cup from the edge of the door and adjust the alignment knobs accordingly. Make sure the number on the cam you want to select aligns with the mark on the jig (see img.4).

HINT: FOR COMMON CABINET DOORS UP TO 40”, USE 2 HINGES. IT IS OUR RECOMMENDATION THAT FOR DOORS 40” TO 60” USE 3 HINGES AND FOR DOORS 60” – 80” USE 4 HINGES.
- Follow your hinge manufacturer’s instructions. Place the Edge Locator Pin in the 3” or 4” Edge Locator Hole (see img. 6a).
Place the EuroHingeJig against your cabinet door with the Edge Locator Pin resting on the top/bottom of the cabinet door and Alignment Knobs resting on the edge of the door. Clamp the hinge jig down to your workpiece and work surface using a Milescraft #4001 FaceClamp or similar (see img. 6a).
NOTE: THERE’S A SCALE FOR CUSTOM HINGE CUP PLACEMENTS. FROM THE END OF THE DOOR, MEASURE THE DISTANCE FOR THE CENTER OF THE HINGE CUP AND CLAMP THE JIG IN PLACE (SEE IMG. 5B).
- Chuck the assembled EuroHingeBit, drill guide, and stop collar to the drill. Attach the drill guide to the jig in a clockwise direction until locked into place (see img. 7).
NOTE: THE DRILL GUIDE ENSURES THAT YOU DRILL PERFECTLY PERPENDICULAR CUP HOLES WITH THE BIT.
-
Start the drill before the EuroHingeBit contacts the workpiece. Plunge the drill bit into your workpiece to drill your cup hole (see img.8). The EuroHingeBit may have to be backed up and plunged again.
-
When your hole is drilled remove the Drill Guide from the jig by turning counter-clockwise.
-
Chuck the included pilot drill bit into your drill. Insert the pilot bit into the pilot hole guide bushings that match with the hinge cup screw holes (see img. 9).
NOTE: THERE IS A PILOT BIT GUIDE ON THE JIG. IT HELPS YOU LOCATE AND
DRILL PILOT HOLES BASED ON YOUR HINGE CONFIGURATION. FOR EXAMPLE, 45X9.5 MEANS
THAT YOUR HINGE HAS HOLES THAT ARE 45MM APART, AND 9.5MM FROM THE CENTER OF
THE CUP (SEE IMG. 9)
HINT: ONLY DRILL A SHALLOW HOLE, NO MORE THAN 1/8″ DEEP TO MAKE A PILOT
HOLE FOR THE SCREWS. YOU CAN USE TAPE ON THE BIT TO SET THE DEPTH.
- After drilling cup hole, before removing or repositioning the EuroHingeJig, use jig scale and centering notches to mark cup hole center line on your door (see img. 10).
- Repeat steps 8-11 for the other end of the door. Measure the same distance on the top of the door as the bottom.
USING THE HINGE MARKING GUIDE
-
Make sure to have used the EuroHingeJig to draw centerlines on the cabinet door for each cup hole as instructed on page 7.
-
Align the cabinet door to the cabinet wall per the manufacturer’s instructions and transfer the center line from the cabinet door to the cabinet wall (see img. 1).
-
Depending on whether the cabinet has face frames or is frameless, align the hinge marking guide on the center line (see img. 2a & 2b).
-
Identify and mark location of the correct set of pilot hole offsets based on hinge manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Insert the pilot bit into chuck and drill a shallow pilot hole no more than 1/8” deep.
-
Repeat steps 1-5 until all screw holes have been drilled.
