Setting the water hardness
The harder your drinking water is, the more often you need to descale the coffee machine. The coffee machine has been set to a medium water hardness of L2. Select L1 if the water is very soft or L3 if it is very hard. Turn the button to the left until the icon flashes. Press the button. The displayed water hardness will flash. Turn the button to select the right water hardness. Press the button again to retain the setting even if you unplug the coffee machine.).

Settings

Blooming
Blooming freshly ground coffee improves the taste. When water touches dry ground coffee, carbon dioxide is released. This impairs the taste of the coffee and prevents the water from extracting the aroma from the powder. The blooming makes sure that the desired aroma can be extracted from the coffee during the subsequent brewing process.

Blooming on /off
Turn the button to the left until the icon flashes. “YES” means that the coffee will be bloomed. Otherwise, “NO” will appear. Press the button. “YES” or “NO” flashes. Turning the button to the right activates the blooming, turning it to the left deactivates it. Press the button to confirm your selection.

If you activate blooming, the ideal blooming amount and the actual brewing process will be optimized for the selected number of cups. Without blooming, the number of cups cannot be set, and this is not necessary, as the entire water from the water tank will be used regardless of whether blooming is active or not.

Setting the time
Turn the button to the right until the icon flashes. Press the button for three seconds. The time will be displayed and will flash. Turn the button to set the hour. Press the button. Turn the button to set the minute. Press the button. Turn the button to the left to return to all other settings. In the event of a power outage or if the appliance is unplugged, the clock will be reset to 12:00. For the timer to start the coffee machine at the right time, the clock must be set correctly turn the button until the symbol flashes. Briefly press the button until the display flashes. Turn the button to set the time at which the coffee is to be brewed. Press the button. Turn the button to set the minute. Press the button again. Now the will appear continually until the brewing process starts

After setting the timer, fill the water tank and the coffee filter with the desired amount of water and ground coffee. If the coffee machine is switched off or in the event of a power outage, the timer will be deleted

Operation

Filling in water
Open the tank lid. Only fill the tank with as much drinking water as you want to brew. ATTENTION: Regardless of the number of cups selected in step 4 , the entire water from the water tank will be used. Make use of the marks on the tank and on the jug. Close the tank lid.

ZWILLING 53103-5 Enfinigy Drip Coffee Maker FIG-8

The marks on the water tank and on the jug do not match precisely, as water is lost in the form of steam during the brewing process and as humidity in the coffee grounds. The marks on the water tank help you to use the correct amount of water.
Attention: Do exceed the MAX mark, as otherwise, the glass jug or the coffee filter might spill over.

Inserting filters
Open the filter lid. Insert a filter in the filter holder. Slightly press the filter against the sides of the filter holder to make sure it will remain in place.

Brewing coffee
Turn the button to the right until the icon flashes. Press the button.

  • Without blooming, the brewing process will start immediately, and the icon will flash.
  • With blooming, you need to turn the button to select the number of cups to be brewed. Press the button again. The icon will flash, and the coffee machine will moisten the powder with the right amount of water before the brewing starts.

As soon as the water tank is empty, the brewing unit will switch off and the icon will appear continually. The hotplate will remain hot for another 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the coffee machine will switch off automatically. Press the button if you want to switch off the appliance earlier.

Risk of scalding! The coffee, the glass jug and the hotplate are hot during and after the brewing process. Only hold the glass jug by the handle and handle it with care. Do not touch the hotplate. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use.
The valve under the filter holder will only open if the closed glass jug has been placed at the centre under the filter holder. Caution: If the jug is not inserted correctly or not at all, the filter might spill over.

Maintenance

Descaling

ATTENTION: Only use ZWILLING descaler for descaling the appliance. If other products are used, ZWILLING will not accept any liability for consequential damage. Depending on the water hardness, scale accumulates in the appliance. Scale on the heating elements increases the brewing time and the power consumption and reduces the brewing temperature, which impairs the taste of the coffee. Descale the coffee machine as soon as the icon flashes. If descaling is required, the coffee machine will only permit another 10 brewing cycles in order to prevent damage.
Fill the tank with 1 l of water and descaler in the ratio indicated on the package. Place the empty glass jug under the filter holder. Turn the button all the way to the left. “CLN” (clean) will appear. Press the button. The descaling can take up to 15 minutes. Afterwards, the icon will stop flashing and will be illuminated continually. Clean the tank, the filter holder and the glass jug with water. Fill the tank with fresh water up to the MAX mark, place the empty glass jug under the filter holder and start a brewing process without ground coffee and without filter.
