About yoghurt:
Yoghurt is a product that is similar to curdled milk and which is acquired from milk through the action of bacteria. The milk is enriched with yoghurt cultures. The bacteria multiply at an average temperature of 42°C. The milk sugar (lactose) present in the milk is converted into lactic acid. As a result the milk congeals.
Preparation of Yoghurt
You require 1,2 litre of pasteurised milk (UHT milk) and a beaker (150 ml) of natural yoghurt in order to fill all 7 jars or 1,33 litre of milk and 2g dry culture
-
Warm the UHT milk in a saucepan up to approx. 45°C and mix into the natural yoghurt or the culture.
In case of applying the cool milk the preparation time can increase up to 10 hours. -
Fill this mixture into the previously cleaned jars.
-
Screw the lids on the jars.
-
Place the closed jars in the device.
-
Close the device with the transparent cover.
USING THE DEVICE
- Turn the device on. The control lamp in the switch lights up.
- Allow the milk mixture to mature for approximately 7 hours in the device.
- Do not move the device during this time, as otherwise the yoghurt will remain liquid. Protect it against vibrations!
- In order to stop operation, turn the device off. The control lamp goes out.
ADDITIONAL POINTERS
- You can use the fresh milk, but before should boil them and then cool to the purpose of the brush-off of undesirable bacteria.
- Fruits, nuts, jam or similar items should only be added after preparation.
- Yogurt will become thicker if you let it mature for a day in the refrigerator before eating
- One jar of the fi nished yoghurt can be used again as a starting culture, but not more than approximately 20 times as the effect diminishes over time.
- Water may separate off during preparation, but this is normal. Just pour away the water or mix it back in.
- If you only use 900ml milk, this will make your yogurt a bit thicker
- Yogurt can also be made with soya milk, in this case use a yogurt made with soya milk as the starter culture
- Always store the finished yoghurt in the refrigerator.
