IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Please save these instructions

Read all the instructions and cautions before beginning installation.
Do NOT disassemble or attempt to repair the module.
Do NOT allow water to enter the module or the Goal Zero Yeti Lithium. Make sure all connections are tight and secure before using.
Do NOT exceed 22V (350W) input for the module; this can cause serious damage to the Yeti Lithium and potential bodily injury.
Check third-party solar panels specs before attempting to use them with the module.
Do NOT chain solar panels in series (connecting positive to negative, positive to negative, etc.), as this can result in dangerously high levels of voltage that can cause serious damage to the Yeti Lithium and potential bodily injury.
Use ONLY with appropriate Goal Zero Yeti Lithium Portable Power Stations.

WARNING:
Never connect a power source to the module before installing it into the Yeti Lithium. Always connect the module to the Yeti Lithium before connecting any power source.
WARNING:
Do not exceed 22V input for the module under standard use. Doing so can cause serious damage to the Yeti Lithium and potential bodily injury. Take note of voltages when using third-party solar panels with the module. Do not chain solar panels in series (positive to negative, positive to negative, etc.), as this can result in dangerously high voltages.

screwdriver

  2. Open the lid of the Yeti Lithium and remove the expansion module carriage from the Yeti by removing the six screws and sliding out the carriage.
    a. Use both hands to work the expansion module carriage out of its position.
    WARNING:
Never connect a power source to the module before installing it into the Yeti Lithium. Always connect the module to the Yeti Lithium before connecting any power source.

  3. Take note of the positive and negative terminals on the Yeti’s port, as well as on the blue connector.
Insert the blue module connector into the module port on the Yeti Lithium, matching positive to positive, negative to negative.

  4. Insert the data transfer connector on the module into the data transfer port on the Yeti Lithium.

  5. Gently set in the Solar Charging Optimization Module into place, tucking the cables into the opening.

  6. Using the provided four screws, secure the module into place.

  7. Using the APP or 8mm ports, plug the power source into the module.

  8. Know the 1V1PPT is working when the indicator light turns blue.

WHAT IS MPPT?
MPPT stands for Maximum Power Point Tracker. The Solar Charging Optimization Module is an external MPPT and when installed properly, actively monitors the energy source you’re using to charge the Goal Zero Yeti Lithium and optimizes the source to maximize power, resulting in up to 40% faster charge times, especially from solar panels. You may also notice better charge times from AC when utilizing the Yeti Lithium’s AC charging cable plugged into the module.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How many solar panels can I plug into the module?
A: There are three inputs on the module that can be used at the same time; however, do not exceed more than 22V under standard use, as this can result in damage to the Yeti Lithium and potential bodily injury. We recommend chaining solar panels in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative, etc). We’ve taken the guesswork out of chaining when using Goal Zero Boulder Solar Panels, the 8mm blue-ringed connector and combiner cables properly chain our panels together for approved use with the Yeti Portable Power Stations. Please call our solar experts at 888-794-6250.
Q: Can I plug solar panels into the module and the Goal Zero Yeti Lithium input ports at the same time?
A: Yes; however, we recommend using the module’s inputs for solar panels since it can optimize the charging efficiency up to 40%. You may even notice up to 20% more efficiency when charging the Yeti Lithium from the wall when using the module.
Q: Can I use non-Goal Zero Solar Panels or a custom wiring solution or any solar configuration that may be over 22V open-circuit voltage
A: Please call our solar experts at 888-794-6250.
