HOW TO USE

TESTING/CONNECTINCi/REMOVINCi

When the smoke detector has started a red alarm status light flashes at 43-second intervals.

TEST

Press the test button. A loud audio signal is heard and the red alarm status light starts flashing. The red/green status light for connecting/learning mode flashes and a wireless alarm signal is given at the same time to all the connected smoke detectors within range. This shows that the smoke detector is working properly. You can also do a test with artificial smoke.

SETTING/CONNECTING

Setting as host unit: When two or more smoke detectors are connected, press the learn button once. The red/green status light changes colour once. Set host units to the mode for green status light. Setting as slave: Set slave units to the mode for red status light.

CONNECTED

  1. When the correct setting is made, keep the test button on the host unit pressed until the red alarm status light and the red/green status light for connection/learn flash continuously and a wireless alarm signal is given.
  2. When a slave unit receives a signal from the host unit the status light for learn mode flashes continuously and an alarm is given at the same time by all the connected units. The red status light goes off.
  3. When the required units are connected, press the test button on one of the alarm units. The other connected smoke detectors give an alarm and the status lights flash continuously.

REMOVAL

Press the learn button on the unit to be removed, to put the unit in the mode for green status light. Press the test button to activate normal alarm mode. The red status light for alarm and the red/green status light for connection/learn flash continuously to show that the smoke detector has been removed.

FIRE DRILLS

  1. When an alarm sounds everyone must know what to do. Prepare yourself and others in the building by establishing evacuation plans, and practice regularly. 1. Let everyone hear the alarm signal and ensure that they all know what it means.
  2. Establish two exits from each room and one evacuation route from the building for each of these two exits.
  3. Teach everyone to feel doors before opening them. If the door is warm it must not be opened – choose an alternative exit.
  4. Explain that smoke and fumes rise to the ceiling – creep along the floor if evacuation must take place through smoke filled rooms.
  5. Establish an assembly area outside the building.

IN CASE OF FIRE

  1. Stay calm – panic is your worst enemy.
  2. Evacuate the building as quickly as possible. Feel all doors before opening them, and do not open warm doors. Choose an alternative exit if necessary. Creep along the floor and never stop to try to take something with you.
  3. Assemble in previously agreed place outside the building.
  4. Alarm the fire brigade when you are outside the building.
  5. Never go back into a burning building. Wait until the fire brigade arrives.

NOTE:

These guidelines increase the chances of the involved parties to manage in the event of a fire, but to work they must be practiced regularly!

MAINTENANCE

  • Test the smoke detector every week.
  • Clean the smoke detector every month. Remove the batteries before cleaning. Check the connection with the test button after cleaning.
