INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
VENT-FREE BLOWER
READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY:
Read and follow all instructions. Place instructions in a safe place for
future reference. Do not allow anyone who has not read these instructions to
assemble, light, adjust or operate the heater or accessories.
Step 1: Remove Heater From Installation Location
If your heater has already been installed, it should be removed from the
wall before installing blower fan. Ensure that the gas is completely shut off
then, disconnect the gas supply and remove the heater from its mounted
position. Contact a qualified service technician to complete this step. Adhere
to and follow all local codes.
Step 2: Removal of the knock-out plate (installation panel) on the rear of
the heater
Newer models will require you to insert a screwdriver into each corner of
the knock-out plate and rotate the screwdriver to break the plate out of the
back cover (Figure 1A); some older models may require you to use a #2 Phillips
head screwdriver to remove the 4 screws that secure the installation panel
(Figure 1B). Either way, remove the access plate (panel) and discard it.
Step 3: Making the electrical connections
Pull out the factory-installed wire harness from just inside the access
panel. Then locate the wire harness located on the Blower included in this kit
(Figure 2.). Plug the wires from the heater into the wires from the blower
being sure to completely press them together.
Step 4:Completing blower installation
Once the electrical connection has been made, you can now insert the blower
into the opening. Line up the holes on the blower with the holes used to
secure the access panel. Using the screws provided with this kit, attach the
blower to the back of the heater. Once the screws are completely tight, the
heater can be professionally reinstalled. ****
Step 5: Fan Switch operation
The factory-installed switch installed on the blower is a three-position
switch (Figure 3). Depressing the top of the switch will place the blower into
Manual mode. This will turn the fan on and it will stay that way until the
operator moves the switch to off, which is the middle position or down, the
auto position. When in the auto position, auto will cycle the blower on as the
heater heats up and then off when the unit has cooled.
