A fun way to learn picture and word recognition. Begin playing the activity by item sorting, organising and collecting. Then move on to building memory skills and develop basic spelling. A memory game that encourages observational and literacy skills. Develops personal and social skills.

HOW TO WIN THE GAME
The first player to fill their shopping trolley or basket with items, wins the game!
GETTING READY TO PLAY THE GAME
Choose someone to be the caller. The caller will be the person who flips the supermarket items over and announces the pictures. The caller can hand out the shopping trolley or shopping baskets to the remaining players. The caller can also play the game. Place all the supermarket items picture cards facing down so that the items cannot be seen.
HOW TO PLAY
After each player is given a shopping trolley/shopping baskets and a shopping
list, the caller can then start to flip the supermarket items over one at a
time. He/she will announce the picture as they show the rest of the players
the card. Each player will check their shopping list and if their list depicts
the matching supermarket item, then the player wins the item and places it on
their trolley/basket. The caller continues to flip over each supermarket card
one at a time and announces the item. The first player to find all the items
on their
shopping list, wins!
OTHER WAYS TO PLAY
A player may choose to play a basic match and sort game. The player can select
a shopping list and match the items from their list, then add the supermarket
items to the shopping trolley/basket. To practise picture and word
association, the player may choose to practise with all the shopping lists. Or
a player may use the blank shopping list and wipeable marker to create their
very own shopping list by matching the item cards. They can practise spelling
the items on their very
own list!
