Checking The Adaptor

Before using a USB mains adaptor please check the “Output” information on the plug face label.
For this device 5V/1A or 5V/1000mAh is the maximum output required to charger the battery. Using a stronger output can damage the battery and/or product.

Controls & Functions

  4. On/Off Switch
    To turn the power on, slide the On/Off switch toward ‘ON’.
    To turn the power off, slide the On/Off switch toward ‘OFF’.

  5. Menu button
    Press to select menu option

  6. Play/Select button
    During recording, press to save and play the file you have just recorded.
    Press to confirm.
    Press to play or pause when playing a recorded file.
    Press and hold for 2 second to enter or exit standby mode.

  7. Skip Back button
    Press to cycle through the available files and options.
    Press and hold to rewind when playing a file.

  8. Skip Forward button
    Press to cycle through the available files and options.
    Press and hold to fast-forward when playing a file.

  9. Stop/Lock button
    During recording. press to stop and save the recording.
    Press to turn off the screen and lock buttons to disable dictaphone controls, (So you don’t press them accidentally).
    When the device is in lock status, press once to view the screen saver clock, press again to unlock buttons when the screen saver clock appears.

    Press to start recording.

    Press to go back to the previous menu.

  12. Volume- button
    Press to lower the playback volume on dictaphone.
    Press and hold to lower the playback volume continuously.

  13. Volume+ button
    Press to raise the playback volume on dictaphone.
    Press and hold to raise the playback volume continuously.

  14. LED
    The LED will show blue when the dictaphone is recording and the LEO will flash blue when the recording is paused.
    The LED will show red when the battry is charging and the LED will turn off when fully charged.
    The LED will flash red when low power.

  15. Microphone Port
    Connecting a external microphone with a 3.5mm jack (Not supplied). It will disable the internal microphone of the dictaphone while the microphone is connected.

  16. Builtin Microphone
    Turn the dictaphone so that its built-in microphone points in the direction of the recording source.

Using the Dictaphone

Power On/Off

Use the On/Off switch (Ref.4) on the left hand side to turn the dictaphone on or off.
Please keep the switch at ON position in daily use. For long term storage, slide it to OFF position to cut off the power.

Standby/Auto Off

The dictaphone has a standby mode. To enter or exit standby mode, ensure
the device is switched on (Ref.4) first, press and hold the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button for 2 second, the dictaphone will enter standby mode if it is left on without being used. Press and hold the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button for 2 second to turn the dictaphone on to continue.

Disabling Dictaphone Buttons Using the ‘Stop/Lock’ Button

To prevent unintentional operations, the dictaphone will hold if no operated or press the ‘Stop/Lock’ (Ref.9) button.
In hold status, the screen will turn off and the button will be disable. To
release the dictaphone from hold status, press the ‘Stop/Lock’ (Ref.9)
button to activate screen saver clock, press again to unlock buttons,

Charging

This dictaphone has an internal, nonremovable and rechargeable battery. If
dictaphone isn’t used for a while, or the LED (Ref.14) flashes red, the battery may need to be charged.
Connect the charge cable (supplied) to the micro USB port (Ref.2} on the
dictaphone and the other end in to a PC, laptop or 5V/1A USB mains adaptor. When connected to your computer, select ‘Charge & transfer’ to charge and transfer tiles, or ‘Charge & play” to charge the device while you are using it. A full charge will take up to 2 hours approximately. An icon in the upper- right corner of the screen animates to show that battery is charging.

File Transfer/How to add music

To transter audio files to the device:

  1. Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable supplied.
  2. Select ‘Charge & transfer’. Transfer your chosen files to the device. Wait until files are completely transferred before ejecting the device.
  3. Before disconnecting the USB, firstly ensure the device is safely ejected from the File Explored options your desktop then unplug the cable.

Recording

Once the dictaphone is turned on, press the ‘Record’ (Ref.10) button to begin recording. During recording, press the ‘Record’ (Ref.10) button to pause, press the ‘Stop/Lock’ (Ref.9} button to stop and save the recording. Press the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button to save and play the recording immediately. The LED (Ref.14) will show light blue when the dictaphone is recording and the LED will flash blue when the recording is paused.

Playback

Recorded audio files are stored in folder “RECORD’ under main menu ‘Files’ by default.

  1. Select “Files” from the onscreen menu, press ‘Play/Selact’ (Ref.6) button to enter the “Files” menu.
  2. Select “RECORD” folder, Use the ‘Skip forward’ (Ref.8) or ‘Skip back’ (Ref.7) button to cycle through the available files that have been previously recorded. Press the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button to play the file back. Press the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button again to pause the playback and again to unpause it.
  • Press VOL -/+ (Ref.12, Ref.13) to adjust the volume.
  • The built-in speaker is provided mainly for checking recorded audio files.
    If the volume is not loud enough, you can connect the dictaphone toa Bluetooth speaker (not supplied) or sound output device to get louder sound.

Deleting a File

Use the ‘Skip forward’ (Ref.8) and ‘Skip back’ (Ref.7) buttons to cycle through the recorded files, select the file you want to delete from the list of recorded files or play back the file you want to delete. Press the ‘Menu’ (Ref.5) button on the file you want to delete, select ‘Delete’ from the menu, and select ‘Yes’ to confirm to delete the file or ‘Return’ (Ref.11) to cancel.

Adjusting the Volume

Use the ‘Volume +’ (Ref.13) or ‘Volume -’ (Ref.12) button on the right hand side to raise or lower the playback volume on the dictaphone.

Connecting Headphones (Not supplied)

You can use a standard set of headphones with a 3.5mm jack. Insert them in to the headphone port on the top of the dictaphone. The volume is controlled as normal with the volume buttons on the side of the dictaphone.

Connecting a Microphone (Not supplied)

You can use a standard microphone with a 3.5mm jack. Insert it in to the microphone port on the top of the dictaphone while the microphone is connected. You may need to adjust the microphone settings within the dictaphone for the best results.

Main Menu Setting

Navigation Setting

When you turn on your dictaphone, the onscreen main menu appears. You can use the main menu for a variety of operations, including locating and playing a recorded file and changing the setting of your dictaphone. Use the ‘Skip back’ (Ref.8) and ‘Skip forward’ (Ref.7) button to navigate through menus, press ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button to enter desired menu. The onscreen main menu items are aligned in the following sequence. Select your desired function from the following menu:

Recorder

Create a voice recording

  1. To create a voice recording, follow these steps:
  2. Select ‘Recorder’ from the main menu
  3. Select ‘Start voice recording’
  4. The device will begin to record using the built-in microphone.
  5. During the recording, press the ‘Record/Pause’ (Ref.10) button to pause recording, press again to continue recording.
  6. Once you have finished your recording, press the ‘Stop/Lock’ (Ref.$) button to save and stop recording, or press the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button to save and replay the recording.

Options

Start voice recording – Select to begin a voice recording..
Recordings library – Select to view a list of your recordings.
Record Format – Select to choose the format of your recordings
(MP3 file or WAV file).
Record Settings — Select to choose the recorder settings.
Bitrate settings enable you to change the WAV file’s recording bitrate
between 512, 768, 1024 and 1536kbps (Kilobits per second). You can change the MP3 file’s recording bitrate between 32, 64, 128, 192kbps.
VOX-mode refers to voice mode.
When VOX-mode is switch off, the dictaphone will record any voice.
When VOX-mode is switched on, the device will only record when the
microphone detects a voice, and pause recording when it does not detect a
voice.
Note: During recording, if no voice detected, the time will not count, that
means the recorder is automatically paused recording, when voice detected
again, it will resume recording automatically.
For important lectures or meetings, please do not turn on this function. It
may miss some very important sentences at low decibels.

File

Select onscreen ‘Files’ from the main menu to play one of the files you have recorded with your dictaphone or have imported from a computer. Press the ‘Play/Select (Ref.6) button to play the file back. Press the ‘Menu’ (Ref.5) button on the file you want to delete, select ‘Delete’ from the menu, and select ‘Yes’ to confirm to delete the file or ‘Return’ (Ref.11) to cancel.

Bluetooth

Connect to a Bluetooth speaker

To connect the dictaphone to a Bluetooth speaker or sound output device, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Bluetooth On/Off’ from the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Select ‘Bluetooth on’ from the option using the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button.
  3. Ensure that Bluetooth is switched on for your chosen sound output device. Select ‘Search for device’. Wait for the dictaphone to search for and display a list of available Bluetooth devices.
  4. Select your device from the list, and wait for the connection to be established. You can now play music and other audio through your chosen sound output device.

Options

Bluetooth On/Off – switch Bluetooth on or off. When the Bluetooth is turned on, a bluetooth icon will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Search for device – search for available Bluetooth devices.
Device List – view a list of previously connected devices.

Setting

To view and change the main device settings, select ‘Settings’ from the main menu.
Language – select to change the device language. Choose from a list of 30
languages.
Default language: English
Display settings – select to change the screen brightness, Backlight timer
and Clock style.
Backlight timer: This option controls how long the dictaphone screen is
illuminated after it has been interacted with. The light ranges: 10sec, 20sec,
30sec and Always on. after the setting time, the screen will appear the
screen saver clock.
Note: It is not recommended to use always on, as this will speed up battery
drain.
Clock style: Select the style of the screensaver clock.
Date and time – Select to set the current year, month, day, hour and minute.
Use the ‘Skip forward’ (Ref.7) button or the ‘Skip back’ (Ref.8) button to
change the value and press the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button to confirm. Press the ‘Menu’ (Ref.5) button to switch to the year, month, day, hour and minute setting.

Power off – Select to choose the Sleep timer and Auto Turn Off settings.
Sleep timer: This option will turn off the dictaphone at a set time, even if it
is playing or recording. Be careful in case you unexpectedly lose an
important recording. Select from 1 minute to a maximum of 99 minutes.
The default setting of sleep timer is off.
Auto Turn Off: This option will allow the dictaphone to turn itself off after a predetermined time in minutes. The available ranges: Off, 1min, 2 min. Use the ‘Skip forward’ (Ref.7) button or the ‘Skip back’ (Ref.8) button to change the value and press the ‘Play/Select’ (Ref.6) button to confirm your selection. Press ‘Return’ (Ref.11) button to go back.

Information – Select to view information on the Firmware and Disk space
Firmware: shows the firmware version.
Disk space: This screen will show the available storage space and the
total storage space of the internal memory.
Format device – Select to format the device and delete all data and files.
Please back up important files before formatting.
Factory settings – Select to restore the dictaphone to factory settings.

Music

To play music, select ‘Music’ from the main menu, press the ‘Play/Select’
(Ref.6) button to enter music playing. Use the the ‘Skip forward’ (Ref.7)
button or the ‘Skip back’ (Ref.8) button to navigate through menu option.
Main menu options

Resume – select to resume play one of the files you have imported froma
computer.
All songs – select to view a list of all songs
Artists – select to view music by artist and album
Albums – select to view music by album
Genres – select to view music by genre
Playlists – select to play a playlist
Refresh playlist – select to refresh playlist

While playing a song, press the ‘Menu’ (Ref.5) button to view song options. Song options
Play mode – change the play mode for music, for example: repeat a song,
shuffle all songs, A-B repeat or change speed of a song.

Equalizer – choose the sound setting for the song, for example ‘Off’, ‘Rock’, ‘Funk’, ‘Hip Hop’,’Jazz’,’Classical’ and ‘Techno’.
Add to playlist – add a song toa playlist.
Remove from Playlist – remove a song from a playlist.
Delete – delete a song from the device.
Bookmarks – save a song ‘bookmark’ (save a song time, to start a song from that specific point). Once selected, the ‘bookmark’ will be available under the ‘Go to bookmark’ option.

Warranty

All products come with a standard 12 month warranty. Faulty product claims made within the 1 year warranty period will be repaired or replaced free of charge provided that you have a satisfactory proof of purchase (keep your receipt or order ID safe). Battery Care

To get the best out of the battery, fully charge and use until flat for the first 5-6 times. Then use until flat and fully charge at least once a month. Prolonged storage without charge may cause damage to the battery and result in poor to no charge. It is recommended you fully charge the battery
every 3 months for long term storage to keep the battery in good condition.
