WELCOME

Welcome to Sytech! Thank you for purchasing the new deep fat fryer SY-FR34. Please read this manual carefully before operating your product and pay close attention to the precautions which are mentioned below. Store this user manual in a safe place for future reference.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

The following safety precautions should always be followed when using domestic electrical products to reduce the risk of electric shock, personal injury or fire. It is important to keep these instructions for future reference after you have read and understood them and before attempting to use the product.

  • Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.
  • Never immerse the control/heating element in water and do not clean these parts under running water.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • Always place the appliance on a flat and stable surface.
  • To protect against electric shock do not immerse the cord, plug and fryer in water or other liquids.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not allow small children to play with the plastic polybag as there is a danger of suffocation!
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug. Should the appliance malfunction, or if it has been damaged in any manner, contact Sytech technical service center to receive a proper solution.
  • Plug the cord into an earthed power socket. Do not use extension cords.
  • Always switch the product off and remove the plug from the wall socket when not in use and before cleaning or changing accessories.
  • Never reach for an electrical product that has fallen into water. To do so will result in an electric shock. Switch off the power at the wall socket and disconnect the plug before attempting to remove it from the water. After removing, never attempt to re-connect the product until it is fully dry and only after it has been tested and approved by a qualified person.
  • Do not let the cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  • WARNING: Never leave the appliance unattended whilst in use.
  • This is a domestic electrical product, which must only be used for its intended purpose, in accordance with these instructions. This product should never be used in a commercial environment
  • Never carry an electrical product by the mains cable as it could cause damage resulting in electrical failure when next used.
  • Where relevant, keep all ventilation slots clear from obstructions and observe safe working distances from walls etc. Never put anything into the ventilation slots of an electrical appliance.
  • Never operate this product with wet hands. Always ensure your hands, the appliance and work area, are dry before switching on.
  • Use oven gloves when opening the lid of the fryer!
  • Never use this product outdoors. This product is designed for indoor use only.
  • If this product stops working unexpectedly, switch off and unplug the product immediately. Seek professional advice before attempting to re-use the product.
  • Never switch on the deep fat fryer if it is not filled with oil or liquid fat. Only use oil or fat that does not foam and is suitable for frying.
  • The deep fat fryer must be filled with oil or fat. Before switching on the deep fat fryer, always ensure that it is filled with a sufficient amount of fat or oil.
  • Hot steam is released during frying. Keep a safe distance away from the steam.
  • After use, set the thermostat to the lowest setting (turn the thermostat fully anticlockwise). Disconnect the mains plug and allow the oil or fat to cool down. Do not move the deep fat fryer until it and its contents have cooled down.

RECOMMENDATIONS

  1. Make sure the deep fryer is not located near or on a switched-on stove or cooking surface.
  2. Never use the deep fryer without oil or fat because this could damage the unit
  3. Never move the deep fryer during use. The oil becomes very hot. Wait until the unit and the oil has completely cooled down before moving.
  4. This deep fryer is protected with a thermal safety device which switches the machine off automatically if it over heats.
  5. Be sure not to damage the heating element. (Do not bend or dent)
  6. The electrical component is required with a safety heat switch, which ensures that the heating element can only function when the element is correctly placed on the fryer.
  7. In the case of overheating, the thermal protective device will switch off the fryer automatically. To reset the device, insert a pointed object (Eg: a pen) and push the reset button located at the back of the control panel.

PREPARING YOUR DEEP FRYER

  • Remove the deep fryer from the box and its accessories. Remove the protective foil or plastic from the appliance.

  • Place the deep fryer on a flat stable surface and ensure a minimum of 10cm. free space around the appliance.

  • This appliance is only to be used indoor and not for commercial use.

  • Before using the deep fryer for the first time, wipe off the removable parts with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products.

  • Plug in the power cable into the socket. (Make sure the voltage indicated on the label matches the local voltage before connecting the appliance. Voltage: AC220-240V~50/60Hz. 2000W)

  • The deep fryer can only be used with oil or liquid fat. Do not use solid fat as this can cause the oil it to spatter violently when heated up.

  • Ensure that the oil or fat has no contamination with water, for example from frozen products. This will cause excessive spattering.

  • Do not use the deep fryer without oil or fat as this will damage the appliance.

  • Never pour any liquid such as water in the pan.

  • Ensure that the level of the oil or fat is higher than the minimum and below the maximum mark. If it is over the maximum, the oil might overflow.

  • Be careful when frying; make sure the fryer is used safely by keeping enough distance between the user and the device. Make sure that people who needs extra help or supervision cannot reach the fryer.

  • Change the oil or the fat once it turns to brown color, smells or emits too much smoke at the beginning.

  • Change the oil or fat when there is too much water in it. The following symptoms can be appreciated: large bubbles, water droplets, water vapor, and rapid rise in oil or fat. It is very important in this case to change the old oil for new as tis can cause serious damage.

  • Change the oil after 8 to 10 uses. Do not fry with the same oil for longer time.

  • Do not use frozen food containing ice. Make sure the food to be fried is completely thawed by laying it on a dry clean towel or cloth. Dab the food with the towel or cloth until the majority of the ice has been melted.

  • Before starting to fry, make sure there is enough space around the fryer.

  • When frying, be patient as the fryer might take some time to reach the correct temperature.

  • Do not place the food in the fryer when it is warming up. Have patience and wait until the fryer has reached the right temperature.

  • Do not fry too much volume of food at the same time.

  • Never cover the top or the filter.

  • Do not add water to the fat or oil.

  • Before using fryer for first time, wash the pot and basket thoroughly with warm, soapy water; carefully dry the pot to maintain the good aesthetic appearance.

  • Choose the right frying temperature and check the conditions of the food to be fried. A rule of thumb is that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature than raw foods.

  • Please ensure that the handle of the deep fat fryer has been correctly attached.

  • The deep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3 full. Do not overfill the frying basket.
    Unpacking the appliance

  • Take the device out of its packaging

  • Remove all packaging materials, such as foils, filling materials, cable ties and cartons.

  • Check that all accessories are included in the box.

  • If the content of the box are incomplete or if damage is found, do not operate the appliance. Return it to the dealer immediately

HOW TO OPERATE THE DEEP FRYER

This type of fryer may only be used with oil or liquid fat, and is not suitable for use with solid fat. Solid fat may contain water, which can cause hot fat to be sprayed out when heated.

  • Never switch on the deep fryer without oil or fat, as this could damage the machine. Also, do not place any other liquids such as water or other substances in the pan.
  • Place the deep fryer on a dry, stable surface.
  • Since the deep fryer becomes hot during use, make sure that it is not too close to other objects.
  • Remove the lid from the deep fryer and take out the accessories.
  • Wash the basket in warm soapy water and dry it well before use. Clean the inside of the pan with a damp cloth and wipe it thoroughly. Ensure that all electrical parts remain completely dry.
  • Assemble the control box into the oil pan. Make sure the control box is secured properly and the small black safety switch is activated, or else the fryer will not power on.
  • Remove the frying basket and allow it to hang and rest on the backside of the oil pan.
  • Use good quality frying oil such as: Peanut oil; Vegetable oil; Pure corn oil; Sunflower oil; Canola oil or light olive oil. (Recommended not to mix different oils)
  • Fill the deep fryer with the desired amount of oil or fat. Make sure that it is filled not less than minimum level and not higher than the maximum level as indicated on the inside of the appliance. For best results, we recommend that you do not mix different kinds of oil together.
  • Make sure the temperature control knob is set to OFF or 0 position.
  • Plug in the power cord to an outlet.
  • Move the thermostat knob to the desired temperature setting and according to the type of recipe.
  • The RED indicator lights will turn on.
  • While the oil is preheating, prepare the food that is going to be fried.
  • When the oil has reached the set temperature, the GREEN light will turn on.
  • Note: The GREEN ready light will cycle On and Off with the thermostat to maintain the selected temperature. The RED power light will remain ON throughout the use.
  • When placing the food into the basket, make sure it is as dry as possible. Do not add water, ice or wet food as it may cause HOT OIL SPLATTER.
  •  When frying frozen food, clear off any ice particles and thaw the food thoroughly.
  • Immerse the basket into the oil slowly to prevent excessive bubbling and cover the fryer wit the lid.
  • DO NOT TOUCH THE CONTROL KNOB DURING THE FRYING PROCESS. HOT STEAM MAY BE RELEASED AND MAY CAUSE INJURY.
  • Once the frying process is over, remove the lid.
  • Raise the basket slowly out of the hot oil and place the basket on the drain support located on the back of the fry basket.
  • After the excess oil has drained, place the food on a paper towel lined baking sheet to allow any remaining oil to drain away.
  • Remove the plug from the outlet.
  • Rinse the handle and the basket after use, and dry thoroughly.
  • Once the deep fryer has completely cooled off, you can replace the basket in the appliance and store it. Store the deep fryer, with the lid close, in a dark, dry place. In this way, you can leave the oil and the basket in the deep fryer when storing.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Warning: Removing the lid will release hot steam. Take extreme care when handling. Keep face and bare skin clear of the steam release.

CHANGING THE OIL

  • Make sure the fryer and the oil or fat have cooled down before changing the oil or fat.
  • Remove the plug of the device from the wall outlet.
  • Change the oil regularly.
  • Never dispose the oil with your day to day wastes. Follow the guidelines issued by your local authorities.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

WARNING: Before cleaning the deep fryer, make sure that it is disconnected from the power outlet, make sure the unit and the oil has completely cooled. Oil retains its temperature for a long period after use. Do not attempt to carry or move the deep fryer while the oil is hot.

  1. Before cleaning, unplug the deep fryer and wait for the appliance to cool down.

  2. Remove the lid and the basket.

  3. Remove the oil pot and pour out the oil. It is recommended to filter the oil after each use if you are to re-use the oil again.

  4. Dismount all the remaining parts such as the outer cabinet, basket, control box.

  5. The oil pot and the outer cabinet can be immersed into water for cleaning.

  6. The control box and the heating element should be wiped with absorbent paper towels. Use a damp cloth and a mild soap to clean.
    WARNING: Do not immerse the control box and heating element into water.

  7. The interior of the fryer has a plain aluminum surface. To avoid damage, no abrasives or sharp instruments should be used.

  8. The exterior should be cleaned with a damp cloth, never use abrasives or scouring pads.

  9. The basket can be washed in warm soapy water.

  10. Do not use bleach or other abrasive substance or solvents to clean your appliance as it can damage the outlook.

SERVICING THE APPLIANCE & RESET

  • There are no user serviceable parts in this appliance. If the unit is not operating correctly, please ensure the following:
  • You have followed the instructions correctly
  • The wall socket is switched on.
  • The mains power supply is on.
  • The plug is firmly plugged in the mains socket.
  • If the product has overheated, it will need to be restarted. Take out the plug from the switch and wait until the oil cools down. Connect the appliance after a few minutes.
  • If the unit stops to work, Try pressing the “RESET” button located at the back side of the control box. (see below picture)
  • If the unit still does not work, contact the Sytech Technical department for a proper solution.
