SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Carefully read the instructions before use! Save these instructions for future reference.
- Do not use the product in damp, dusty or smoky environments.
- Do not install the product so that light and sound are blocked.
- When the battery capacity reaches a low level the smoke detector will emit an audio prompt approximately every 43/60 seconds to indicate that the battery needs to be replaced.
- Store the smoke detector and packaging materials out of the reach of children.
- If several connected products are installed, make sure that no objects obstruct communication.
- The alarm function must only be tested with the test button on the product. Do not use any other test method. Test the alarm function every week, to verify correct functionality.
- The alarm might not be noticed by all persons in the building. The alarm signal is strong, so that it will be easily noticed when danger exists. Nevertheless there are several circumstances that can prevent the alarm signal from being detected, for example strong background noise indoors or outdoors, deep sleep, diminished hearing, or influence of alcohol or drugs. Alarm devices must therefore be chosen and adapted to such and other conceivable difficulties in detecting the alarm signal. If for example a person in the household has diminished hearing and therefore can be expected to have difficulty in detecting the alarm signal, special alarms with light and/or vibration signals must be installed. To provide effective protection from personal injury or death, a smoke detector must be heard very quickly.

- Unpack the product, turn the mounting plate anticlockwise and remove the batteries (9 V and 1.5 V). Remove the protective film from the batteries.
- Insert the 9 V battery with the polarity shown in the battery compartment.
- Turn the locking arm inward and insert the 1.5 V batteries with the polarity shown in the battery compartment.
- Align the two hooks on the mounting plate to the slots in the base and turn the plate clockwise so that the hooks slot in place.
HOW TO USE
TESTING/CONNECTING/REMOVING
When the smoke detector has started a red alarm status light flashes at 43-second intervals.
TEST
Press the test button. A loud audio signal is heard and the red alarm status light starts flashing. The red/green status light for connecting/learning mode flashes and a wireless alarm signal is given at the same time to all the connected smoke detectors within range. This shows that the smoke detector is working properly. You can also do a test with artificial smoke.
REPLACING THE BATTERY
- Grip the smoke detector casing, twist anticlockwise and unhook the detector from the wall/ceiling holder.
- Remove the old battery and then connect the new battery.
- Put the new battery in the battery compartment, fit the detector in the wall ceiling holder and lock in place in the holder by twisting clockwise.
- Test the smoke detector by pressing the test button. The alarm gives a loud audio prompt. If there is no load alarm signal the smoke detector is either defective or incorrectly installed. See troubleshooting section.
OBSI
- The detector will not fit in the wall/ ceiling holder if no battery is inserted.
- Do not take out the battery unless a new battery is to be immediately inserted.
SETTING/CONNECTING
Setting as host unit: When two or more smoke detectors are connected, press the learn button once. The red/green status light changes colour once. Set host units to the mode for green status light. Setting as slave: Set slave units to the mode for red status light.
CONNECTED
- When the correct setting is made, keep the test button on the host unit pressed until the red alarm status light and the red/green status light for connection/ learn flash continuously and a wireless alarm signal is given.
- When a slave unit receives a signal from the host unit the status light for learn mode flashes continuously and an alarm is given at the same time by all the connected units. The red status light goes off.
- When the required units are connected, press the test button on one of the alarm units. The other connected smoke detectors give an alarm and the status lights flash continuously.
REMOVAL
Press the learn button on the unit to be removed, to put the unit in the mode for green status light. Press the test button to activate normal alarm mode. The red status light for alarm and the red/green status light for connection/learn flash continuously to show that the smoke detector has been removed.
FIRE DRILLS
When an alarm sounds everyone must know what to do. Prepare yourself and others in the building by establishing evacuation plans, and practice regularly.
- Let everyone hear the alarm signal and ensure that they all know what it means.
- Establish two exits from each room and one evacuation route from the building for each of these two exits.
- Teach everyone to feel doors before opening them. If the door is warm it must not be opened — choose an alternative exit.
- Explain that smoke and fumes rise to the ceiling — creep along the floor if evacuation must take place through smoke filled rooms.
- Establish an assembly area outside the building.
IN CASE OF FIRE
- Stay calm — panic is your worst enemy.
- Evacuate the building as quickly as possible. Feel all doors before opening them, and do not open warm doors. Choose an alternative exit if necessary. Creep along the floor and never stop to try to take something with you.
- Assemble in previously agreed place outside the building.
- Alarm the fire brigade when you are outside the building.
- Never go back into a burning building. Wait until the fire brigade arrives.
NOTE:
These guidelines increase the chances of the involved parties to manage in the event of a fire, but to work they must be practiced regularly!
MAINTENANCE
- Test the smoke detector every week.
- Clean the smoke detector every month. Remove the batteries before cleaning. Check the Connection with the test button after cleaning.
- If the smoke detector is not working properly, check the batteries.
- Only replace the batteries with new batteries of the same type.
