TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Operating principle
- Models of SVEN RТ are designed to operate with lead-acid maintenance-free 12 V batteries of AGM type.
- Models of RТ series fall in the line-interactive uninterruptible power supply of continuous action with prolonged backup time. The principle of their operation is based on the transformation of the direct current of external batteries to alternating current. The current waveform at the output is the regular sinusoidal wave.
- Its primary function is the power supply for household and industrial equipment, which is critical to the input current waveform (boiler equipment, automation systems with equipment with program control (servers, databases, etc.) with medical equipment).
- The device is equipped with an automatic voltage regulator (AVR). The built-in regulator enables to provide correct power supply at the overvoltage/Undervoltage of the mains without going to the battery operation mode.
- The automatic start function provides automatic switching on when there is a power supply. With input voltages 160 V or less, as well as 260 V or more the automatic start is not activated.
- The three-stage switch of charging current enables the user to connect batteries of different capacities depending on the required time to provide the power backup. It is recommended for the battery with a capacity 20–50 А·h to use the position L (3–5 A) of the switch, with the capacity of 50–100 А·h to use the position M (7–9 A), with the capacity 100–200 А·h to use the position Н (13–15 A).
Recommendations regarding the selection of batteries
- Select the capacity of a battery (batteries) depending on the connected load power and re-quired time of power standby, see the table 1 below. Based on the selected capacity, choose a certain battery (batteries).
- Storage conditions of batteries must conform to the requirements of the battery producer.

We recommend using SVEN SV12170, SVEN SV12500, and SVEN SV121000 batteries.
Notes. When two or more batteries are used, they should be of one type
and have the same capacity (if their capacities are different, the batteries
will have different internal resistance and due to this the charge level will
be different). Batteries should be connected in parallel when several
batteries are used simultaneously. Additional cables (to be purchased
separately) will be required to connect extra batteries. When two or more
batteries are connected, the plus terminal of one battery is connected to the
plus terminal of the other battery, minus terminals of batteries are con-
nected similarly. The connecting cables must have a sufficient cross-section
and a minimum length.

ATTENTION! Sparkling is allowed at the touch of power terminals during
battery connection to the UPS. Before the first UPS use, the battery should be
charged without load for not less than 12 hours (full charge time may vary
depending on the capacity and discharge of the connected battery level).
- After that connect the UPS to the grounded single-phase network with the help of a power cable
- The LCD display will be switched on, and the buzzer beeps 4 times. The output voltage indicator will display the figure “230”. You don’t need to turn on the UPS after its connection to the network with the button k, the “autostart” function will start it automatically.
- The battery must be charged. To do this, the UPS is to be in a switched-on position till the battery is charged completely (5 segments of the battery indicator must light).
- Connect devices-consumers to the UPS when it is switched off. To do this, insert plugs of consumers into UPS sockets n.
- Insert the UPS plug into a socket once more, the “autostart” function will start it automatically. LCD display i will turn on, buzzer beeps 4 times shortly. The figure “230” will be displayed on the output voltage indicator a. Then turn on the connected devices using their switch-es (turn on the most powerful device first and the most low-powered should be last turned on the last).
Notes. When the occasion requires disconnecting the UPS enforced, unplug devices-consumers and turn off the UPS in the manner aforesaid. Press and hold the button h within 4 seconds to restart the UPS. The buzzer beeps four times and the output voltage indicator will display the figure “230”. If the UPS is not used for a long time, the battery is to be charged once every three months. We recommend reading the manufacturer’s manual for the proper maintenance of the battery. If the UPS is not used for a long time, unplug it and disconnect the battery set. As this up has the autostart function, a power supply failure will result in the UPS automatic starting.
Cold start function
The UPS can be switched on without connection to the mains using the cold
start function. In order to switch on the UPS, press and hold down the button
k within 4 sec. The buzzer beeps four times, the output voltage indicator
displays the figure “230” and the power will be supplied to devices-consumers.
Note. It is not recommended to use the cold start function when the
connected load is large.
Sound alarm and protection
- At the instant the UPS starts to use power from batteries (when there is a power failure), it beeps 4 times. Then the UPS beeps every 30 seconds when it operates from batteries. This function can be switched off. To do this, press and hold down the button j within 2 sec., the buzzer beeps one time and the signals will be over. When beeps are required, repeat the procedure. You can also to turn off all sound signals by pressing the button l on the rear panel of UPS. Press the button l to turn on all sound signals.
- If the battery capacity is low (while operating from batteries), the UPS beeps every second. When the batteries are fully discharged UPS will frequently beeps for 20 seconds and then turns off automatically. If you turn off the button beeps l, the signal low battery charge will not supply.
- When the battery residual voltage is lower than 10.5 V, the UPS is switched off. When the load is too high (110–120 %), the UPS delivers frequent intermittent warning beeps within 20 sec., then it will turn off the load automatically. When the load is 120 % or more the UPS delivers a single beep and then it is turned off automatically.
