Keep the material (plastic bags and cardboard) out of reach of children. Check after unpacking the appliance for any damage, possibly from transportation. Put the appliance on a cool, flat, and stable surface. Before first use, rinse the appliance once or twice with water (but without coffee). Rinse the thermos jug with warm water and make it dry. Never use any abrasives!
Important: Fill the appliance only with cold water. Hot water has a negative effect on the lifetime of the coffee machine.

brewing coffee

Before plugging into a socket, check that the voltage in your home corresponds with the voltage printed on the bottom of the appliance. Put the appliance on a cool, flat, and stable surface. Connect the appliance to an earthed socket.

  1.  Open the lid of the coffee machine and fill the water reservoir with the desired amount of cold, freshwater (the level indications apply to the number of cups).
  2. Place a paper filter (size 1 x 4) of which you have folded the sealed edges in the filter holder. This prevents the paper filter to collapse. For 8 cups, use 4 or 5 spoons of ground coffee.
  3. Close the lid.
  4. Place the thermos jug on the base.
  5. Switch the coffeemaker on by pressing the on-/off button. The pilot lamp will now light up.
  6. As soon as the brewing process has ended and the water reservoir is empty, you can serve the coffee.
  7. Coffee tastes best immediately after brewing, don’t wait too long before serving the coffee. This way you can enjoy your cup of coffee to the fullest. The thermos jug will keep the coffee warm for about 2 hours, but coffee tastes best immediately after brewing, don’twait too long before serving the coffee. This way you can enjoy your cup of coffee to the fullest.

Attention: This appliance is fitted with an anti-drip system. This allows you to remove the thermos jug so that you can pour yourself a cup of coffee while it is still brewing. Quickly replace the thermos jug to prevent the filter holder from overflowing.
SWITCHING OFF
The appliance will automatically switch off when the water reservoir is empty. The control light goes out. Don’t forget to throw away the paper coffee filter. Open the lid of the filter and remove the filter holder. When you use a permanent filter, empty this, rinse it and you can use it again.

 cleaning & maintenance

Regular cleaning will prolong the life of your appliance and will guarantee optimal brewing results.
Before cleaning

  1. Check if the appliance is switched off and the plug is unplugged.
  2.  Clean the outside of the appliance regularly with only a damp cloth or sponge and dry it with a dry cloth. Never use any abrasives. Never place the appliance in water or under running water.
  3.  Clean the thermos jug and filter-holder with warm water and some washing-up liquid. Dry the parts thoroughly before you place them back. Never wash the thermos jug and filter holder in the dishwasher.

descaling

Regular descaling will prolong the life of your appliance and will guarantee optimal brewing results. The coffeemaker must be descaled at regular intervals: every 40 cycles for very hard water (about once a month) and every 80 cycles for soft water (about once every 2 months). But more frequent descaling may be necessary if you notice: an increase in noise when boiling or if brewing takes longer. You can use either a sachet of descaler or cleaning vinegar. When you use a descaler for coffeemakers, follow the instructions on the package. When you are using cleaning vinegar do as follows:

  1. Switch off the appliance, unplug it and let it cool down. Remove all the separate parts (thermos jug and filter holder).
  2. To remove excess water turn the machine upside down over the sink.
  3.  Fill the water reservoir up to halve with cold vinegar and add fresh, cold water to the maximum level. Place the thermos jug on the warming plate and place the filter holder with an empty paper filter on the holder.
  4. Switch the appliance on.
  5.  Allow the equivalent of half the amount to run through into the thermos jug. Then stop the coffeemaker. Leave the remaining mixture in the coffeemaker to work for 15 minutes. Restart the coffeemaker to finish the run-through.
  6.  Rinse the coffeemaker by running it 2 or 3 times with fresh water (full water tank and without coffee).

Attention! If you haven’t used the coffee machine for a while, for instance, if you have been away on a holiday, you should remove all the separate parts for cleaning and rinse the coffee machine with fresh water. Place the cleaned parts in the machine. This prevents an additional taste.
