Safety Instructions

Caution Icon

  • Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use this product near water or moisture. Do not spill liquids on the product. Clean only with a dry cloth.
  • Place the unit on a solid surface.
  • Do not put it in a closed bookcase or a cabinet that may keep air from flowing through  its ventilation openings.
  • Do not install near any heat sources, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other appliances that produce heat.
  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs and the point where they exit from the product.
  • During Lightning storms, unplug the product from the power source or if unused for  Long periods of time. This will prevent lightning and power-line surge damage to the product.
  • Do not attempt to service this product yourself. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other hazards. Please contact the manufacturer to be referred to an authorized service center near you.
  • Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral power circuits as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
  • Never push any object through the product openings, as this can result in fire, electric shock or damage.
  • Use proper power sources. Plug the product into a proper power source, as described  in the operating instructions or as marked on the product.

If there is a Lightning flash with an arrow head on product or power supply, it’s intended to alert the User of the presence of un-insulated “dangerous voltage” within the product or power supply, that might be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

If there is an Exclamation point on the product or power supply, it’s intended to alert the User that there is important operating and maintenance (servicing) information in the User manual.

Rectangular Icon If there is a double rectangular symbol on the product or power supply, it means that the product or power supply is double insulated. Earth connection is not required.

Usage, controls and connections

Argon Audio BT3 has 3 functions. It can work as:

  • A. Bluetooth Receiver
  • B. Bluetooth Transmitter
  • C. High End D/A converter

Start up and main usage:

  • Connect the power supply to the Argon Audio BT3 and connect the power supply to a power outlet.
  • Power Off: short press power button, Power On: short press power button. Off light is red, ON light is blue
  • To pair or un-pair, press and hold pairing button for 3 sec.
Overview of the Back panel

Product Overview

  1. 1.  **POWER** (1). on/off button. Press to power ON or power OFF.
    • ON will be indicated by a Blue LED light on the front. OFF will be indicated by a Red LED light on the front.
  2. PAIR (2). button.
    This button is used to pair your:
  *  **Playback device (RX mode), such as Mobile Phone**
  *  **Receive device (TX mode), such as Headphone.**
  *  **Playback device (RX mode),** pairing a playback device such as a mobile phone – set TX/RX (3) switch to RX mode.
  * Go to Bluetooth setting on your Mobile phone, make sure Bluetooth is activated and select “pair new device”
  * Press and hold PAIR (2) button on BT3 for 3 sec until the blue LED light on the front of BT3 starts blinking.
  * BT3 will show up Make sure Bluetooth is activated on your Mobile Phone and make sure the BT3 is in ON (steady Blue LED light on the front).
  * Press and hold the PAIR (2) button for 3 seconds. The Blue LED light on the front will start blinking.
  * The BT3 will show up on your Mobile phone. Press on “BT3” on the Mobile Phone display and it will pair with BT3.
  * In the process your phone will “ask” to share “contacts etc” choose “yes”.
  * Your Mobile phone and BT3 are now paired and connected.
  * In the BT setting screen on your Mobile Phone press the setting button of the paired BT3 (look like a “wheel”) if your Mobile phone supports HD Audio it will show in the settings. Activate HD Audio.
  *  **Receive device (TX mode)** , pairing a receive device such as a BT Headphone – set TX/RX (3) switch to TX mode.
  * Connect BT3 to the source you want to transmit (ex. TV) using optical cable or analogue cable.
    * Optical cable connect to OPTICAL IN (TX) (5)
    * Analogue cable connect to AUDIO IN (TX) (4)
  * Switch button on back of BT3 to TX (3)
  * Turn on your receiving device (BT headphone) and put device in pairing mode.
  * BT3 will automatically connect to the closest BT device/the device with the strongest signal in your surrounding. So make sure to place the device you want to connect as close as possible to BT3.
  * When paired and connected with your headphone it will start playback.
  * To un-pair a device press un-pair button for 3 sec and BT3 will automatically try to connect with the next device that is ready for pairing.
  * To avoid paring with a device you don’t want to pair with – turn the unwanted device off.
  *  **Note: pairing might take a few minutes – please be patient. If pairing doesn’t happen automatically within a few minutes, try turning BT3 on/off, and/or turning the device you want to pair with on/off.**
3.  **TX/RX** (3). switch, to change between:
  * Playback mode (TX) – like Mobile Phone, Lap Top
  * Receive mode (RX) – like a BT Headphone.
  * D/A converter function mode – set switch to TX (3)
4.  **AUDIO IN (TX) (4)**
  *  **For Headphone** usage (Receive function) connect eg. Your TV (if the TV does **not have** optical out) using RCA/Mini-Jack to RCA/Mini-Jack cable.
5.  **OPTICAL IN (TX) (5).**
  * For **Headphone** usage (Receive function) connect eg. Your TV (if the TV has optical out) using a optical to optical cable.
  * For **D/A converter** usage – connect from music source device with optical to optical cable.
6.  **AUDIO OUT (RX) (6).**
  * For Audio Play back (Play back function) connecting your Amplifier/Playback device (if your Amplifier/Play back device does not have optical input) using  

RCA/Mini-Jack to RCA/Mini-Jack cable

  * For D/A converter usage – connect to music source device with RCA to RCA/Mini-Jack cable.
7.  **OPTICAL OUT (RX) (7).**
  * For **Audio Play**   **back** (Play back function) connecting your Amplifier/Playback device (if your Amplifier/Play back device does **have** optical input) using an optical to optical cable.
8.  **DC 5V IN (8)** Power plug
  * Connect the power supply to BT3 and to main power outlet
Using BT3 as D/A converter

Set the TX/RX (3) switch on backside of BT3 to TX mode.

  • Connect the playback music source device to OPTICAL IN (Tx) (5), with an optical to optical cable.
  • Connect the BT3 to your amplifier with a RCA cable to Audio Out (Rx) (6) on BT3.
  • Playback will start. Blue LED will keep flashing for 90 seconds and then it will turn off. To reactivate BT function and Pairing, press and hold the Pairing button for 3 sec. LED light will start flashing again.
  • Notice that Bluetooth playback will over rule the D/A converter function. So if you have paired a BT device and start playing via BT, the D/A converter function will stop.
