Operation Guide

  1. Turn on your WST-550G by setting the power switch to “ON” position. The No.6 LED (in the middle) will turn red.
  2. Lightly pluck the string you wish to tune. The WST-550G will automatically detect the current pitch, indicate which string you are tuning and indicate the note with the LED lights on the left. A difference in pitch will be indicated by the LED lights on the right (No. 1 to 11).
  3. If the pitch is more than 50 cents sharp, LED No. 11 will light. If the pitch is more than 50 cents flat, LED No.1 will be lit.
  4. Make sure the LED on the left correctly indicates the string you are tuning. For instance, if you are tuning the third string and the LED indicates “2B”, then the string is too tight and you should loosen it. If the LED indicates “4D”, your string is too loose and you should tighten it.
  5. When the LED on the left correctly indicates the string you are tuning, fine-tune the string using the LED display on the right, Loosening or tightening the string as needed. The string will be in tune when LED No.6 turns green.
  6. After getting all the strings in tune, go back and double-check each one. You may find some of the strings are slightly flat. As you tune up, pressure from the strings naturally bends the guitar neck by a very small amount. This makes some of the strings that you have just tuned slightly loose again. Tuning all the string in order two or three times is a good way to solve the problem.
  7. For standard EADGBE tuning, the flat tuning switch is set to “a” (natural). In some situations, you may need to tune your guitar down one half-step or semitone. To do this, simply set the semitone tuning switch to the ” 1; position for Eb, A6, D6, G6, B6, E6 tuning.
  8. Tuning result: Guitar: 6E 5A 4D 3G 2B 1E
