Battery life and duration

  •  The battery has a limited life span. Battery duration will gradually decrease with repeated usage and age. Battery life also varies depending on the storage method, conditions of use and environmental factors.
  •  Charge in an environment where the temperature range is between 10 °C – 30 °C (50 °F – 86 °F).
  •  Charging may not be as effective when performed in other environments.
  •  When the wireless controller is not used for an extended period of time, it is recommended that you fully charge it at least once a year to help maintain battery functionality.

Use and handling precautions

  •  Avoid prolonged use of this product. Take a break at about 30-minute intervals.
  •  Stop using this unit immediately if you begin to feel tired or if you experience discomfort or pain in your hands or arms during use. If the condition persists, consult a doctor.
  •  Permanent hearing loss may occur if the headset or headphones are used at high volume. Set the volume to a safe level. Over time, increasingly loud audio may start to sound normal but can actually be damaging your hearing. If you experience ringing or any discomfort in your ears or muffled speech, stop listening and have your hearing checked. The louder the volume, the sooner your hearing could be affected. To protect your hearing:
    •  Limit the amount of time you use headset or headphones at high volume.
    • Avoid raising the volume to block out noisy surroundings.
    •  Lower the volume if you can’t hear people speaking near you.
  •  Avoid looking into the light bar of the controller when it is flashing. Stop using the controller immediately if you experience any discomfort or pain in any body parts.
  •  This product is intended for use with the hands only.
  •  The vibration function of this product may aggravate injuries. Do not use the vibration function if you have any ailment or injury to the bones, joints, or muscles of your hands or arms.
  •  Note that some software titles enable the vibration function by default. To disable the vibration function, select (Settings) ➡ [Devices] ➡ [Controllers] from the function screen, and then remove the checkmark from [Enable Vibration].
  •  Never disassemble or modify the product.
  •  Do not expose the product to high temperatures, high humidity or direct sunlight.
  •  Do not allow the product to come into contact with liquids.
  •  Do not put heavy objects on the product.
  •  Do not throw or drop the product or subject it to strong physical shock.
  •  Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium-ion batteries.
  •  When using the motion sensor function, be cautious of the following points. If the controller hits a person or object, this may cause accidental injury or damage.
    •  Before using, check that there is plenty of space around you.
    •  When using the controller, grip it firmly to make sure it cannot slip out of your hand.
    •  If using a controller that is connected to the PlayStation®4 system with a USB cable, make sure there is enough space for the cable so that the cable will not hit a person or object. Also, take care to avoid pulling the cable out of the PS4™ system while using the controller.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this controller compatible with Microsoft P.C. games and with its Bluetooth? Has anyone tried it?
I have had one for about 3 weeks now and when visiting my parents for a few days I tried it out on my Windows 10 gaming PC and was surprised to discover that it paired right up and connected with the built-in Intel AC WiFi/Bluetooth 4.1 card that came with my MSI mini ITX motherboard. The controller can be set up and calibrated by using the built-in Windows game controller tool. Most PC games that are set up for using a game controller allow you to customize the mapping of your controller in the game settings.
Since first posting this answer back in January I have permanently abandoned using Windows 10 Pro as my OS because of Microsuck’s policy of incessantly data mining you. I have a fast Internet connection, some have faster downloads but most do not have my upload speed. My plan is 75mbits down and 75mbits up and in spite of having the settings turned off in Windows 10 to allow their per to per updating of Windows they were doing it anyway. I began noticing that my HD activity light was constantly on, when doing an Internet speed check MS had capped my 75mbits up speed to only 20mbits/sec up with the MS CROOKS stealing the balance of what I was paying for and in doing so also dramatically lowing the life expectancy of my expensive SSD! After looking for malware and finding nothing in desperation I did a complete restore of Windows 10 Pro. This process reformatted my HD and installed the latest version of Windows 10, after this the only software I installed was the Firefox web browser, and conducted a speed check. I noticed a slight change, my HD light was on even more, and my up speed was now capped at 19mbits/sec so I came to the realization that the only malware on my PC was my OS choice, Windows 10, I now am using Linux Mint 18 and have done so since April 2017 and my PS 4 controller works as good on Linux as it does with Windows. I am an avid gamer and currently, 1/3rd of my Steam library of games now runs natively on Linux for the rest this is what I now do. I sort of lied about not using Windows 10, I do not use it for anything other than playing my large collection of Windows-only games, however, I do not run Windows 10 natively. I now run Windows 10 Pro in a KVM virtual machine with hardware pass-through that runs on top of Linux. Due to my PC hardware, I am able to pass my PCIe ports as well as USB 3 ports directly to the VM and the now guest OS Windows 10. What this means is that when running the VM Windows 10 has direct access to my expensive GPU and is running the Windows Nvidia driver for it. Doing this I am only experiencing a very slight drop in performance but running Windows in a sandboxed VM is preferable as I can control who it is talking with on the Internet while still being able to play multiplayer games.

  • How can you tell this is a newer model when it has the same model number as the older models?
All DualShock 4 models since the release of the PS4 used the CUH-ZCT1 code, excluding special editions like the Star Wars one, which has a completely different code. This is the first model that makes a digit jump from the original, moving from “ZCT1” to “ZCT2,” possibly indicating the first major revision of the controller.

  • Does this new model have a better battery life?
6-7 hours max. Xbox & Switch Pro controllers have 35-40 hour controllers. Do these have secret spy cameras draining the batteries? It just doesn’t make sense.

  • Does this controller come with a cord to charge it?
No. I ordered the cord separately…not expensive and the words are fine.

  • Can i change the color of the front led if used the ds4 windows tool?
I noticed that the LED changes color according to the game being played. It’s blue with my non-VR games and yellow with Resident Evil 7 which is VR so changing the color might not be advisable. Good luck

  • This is the new control ps4 slim?
Yes, there should be a slim light bar showing on the front touchpad. I picked up an extra controller to go with my Slim PS4 purchase.

  • I charged this controller and every time i disconnect it from the usb it doesn’t even turn off. did i get a defective controller?
Sounds like a defective controller to me. After a full charge on the USB, my controller can go for hours (USB unplugged) during continuous gameplay.

  • Does it work well with a sony 4k tv?
I use with my 4k television and have no issues. It held up especially well when I was frustrated by campers in Call of Duty and threw it.

  • Does it come with a charging cable?
No. It does not come with a charging cable.

  • Does the controller bring the USB to charge it?
You should probably ask the seller if it’s used. The one I am selling used does not have a USB cord included.
