Safety Information

Read Instructions – All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated.

Retain Instructions – The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.

Heed Warnings – All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be adhered to.

Water and Moisture – Do not use the apparatus near water (e.g. bath tub, sink, swimming pool) or in wet places or tropical climates. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on top of the apparatus. Do not expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing.

Setup – The apparatus should only be placed on a stable, flat surface. Do not let the apparatus fall down or expose it to shock.

Wall or Ceiling Mounting – The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.

Ventilation – The appliance should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. For example, the appliance should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings; or, placed in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings. Ensure a minimum distance of 5 cm around the apparatus for sufficient ventilation. Ensure that the ventilation is not impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.

Heat – The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

Power Sources – The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance.

Cables and Plugs – The mains plug shall remain readily operable. All cables should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.

Cleaning – The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer. Clean by wiping with a dry and clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents. Always pull the mains plug before cleaning the unit.

Non-use Periods – The power cord of the appliance should be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long period of time.

Object and Liquid Entry – Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings.

Damage Requiring Service – The appliance should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
a) The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
b) Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance; or
c) The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
d) The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
e) The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged. -
Servicing – The user should not attempt to service the appliance beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.

Open Fire – Keep the apparatus away from open fires. Do not place naked flame sources, such as lighted candles on the apparatus.

Thunderstorms – During a thunderstorm, the mains plug should be unplugged.

Safety Check – After servicing the technician should conduct a safety check in order to ensure that the apparatus is working properly and safely.

Batteries – Always place batteries in the correct polarization into electrical components. The danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type. Do not mix old and new batteries. Take attention to the environmental aspects of battery disposal. Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like. Remove batteries before disposing of the product.

Volume Levels – To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods.

Headphones – Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.

Batteries
Batteries may not be disposed of in regular household trash. Every consumer
has the obligation to return batteries to special disposal locations.

that this product shall not be treated as household waste. Please, dispose of
this equipment at your applicable collection point for the recycling of

Handling discs
• Always keep the CD compartment shut to prevent dust or dirt from getting into the CD mechanism.
• Do not touch the recorded surface.
• Do not stick paper or write on either side of the CD.
• Do not bend the CD.
• Only handle a disc on its outer edges.

Storing discs
• To avoid scratches/damages always put CDs back into their cases after use.
• Do not expose CDs to direct sunlight, dust, dirt, high temperatures, high humidity or water. -
Cleaning discs
• Use a soft cloth to wipe fingerprints and dust from the disc surface.
• Carefully move the cloth from the center of the disc to its edge:
• Never use benzene, thinners, record cleaner fluid or antistatic spray to clean CDs.

Compatibility
• Due to the numerous compression methods, some discs may not play.

FURTHER NOTES ON THE DEVICE
Setting a safe volume level

If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
-
What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
-
To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
-
Increase the volume slowly.
-
Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
-
If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.
Condensation -
Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly. Don’t turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.
Saving energy -
If the unit is not used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the AC socket.

If there is no playback in any mode (except radio) for 15 minutes and no button is pressed, then the unit will switch into standby mode automatically. To turn the unit back on, press the Power button.
Unpacking -
Take out carefully the unit from the packing. Please keep the packing for further use.

Carefully remove possible protection cardboards and slipcovers.
Mounting Instructions
- To mark the correct location of the screws on the cabinet, hold the mounting plate at the desired location and mark with a pencil the 4 screw holes.
- It is suggested to carefully drill small screw holes in order to avoid the wooden cabinet from cracking.
- Fix the mounting plate on the underside of the cabinet with the 4 supplied screws. Make sure that the hinges are pointing forward.
- Slide the unit onto the mounting plate.

Power Supply
- Connect the power cable into a suitable wall socket.
- Make sure that the output power of the wall outlet matches the required power of the unit.
Battery Backup Function
Two 1.5V “AAA” batteries (not included) can be installed as a backup option to
maintain the time if
electrical power fails (alarms and stored radio stations remain in the
internal memory without batteries). In the event of a power outage, the time
will not appear on the
display, however, the clock will continue to operate and the actual time will
be maintained.
The clock display will resume once electrical power is restored if using the
backup battery.
The backup batteries should be replaced as needed.
Notes:
- Pay attention to the safety information on page 16.
- If the unit is not used for a longer period of time, batteries should be removed.
Basic Functions & Getting Started
Switching the Unit On & Off (Standby Mode)
- Power the unit as described above. The unit is now in standby mode (the Power button is lit in red).
- To switch the unit on, press the Power button. The unit will switch to the last mode used.
- To switch the unit off (standby mode), press the Power button.
Function Selection (Source)
-
To select between CD, USB, radio, and AUX modes, repeatedly press the Source button on the unit or the according button on the remote control.
Volume Control -
Increase the volume by pressing the Volume + button on the unit or the remote control.
-
Decrease the volume by pressing the Volume – button on the unit or the remote control.
Mute -
To mute the sound, press the Mute button on the unit or the remote control. Press the button again to turn the sound back on.
Dynamic Bass Boost (DBB) -
This feature enhances the bass performance. Press the DBB button on the unit or the remote control to activate/de-activate this feature.
Equalizer (EQ) -
This unit is equipped with 5 different equalizer presets (FLAT, ROCK, CLASSIC, POP, JAZZ).

To select between these presets, repeatedly press the EQ button on the unit or the remote control.
Display Dimmer -
The display brightness can be adjusted in 3 levels (high, medium, low).

To select between these levels, repeatedly press the Dimmer button on the unit, or press and hold for 3 seconds the Dimmer button on the remote control.
Display Modes -
Press the Disp button while in standby mode to show the date.
-
Press the Disp button while in a playback mode (CD or USB) to show the time. When the disc or
USB contains ID3 tags, press the button repeatedly to display ID3 info (e. g. artist, song name, album name). -
Press the Disp button while in radio or AUX mode to display the time. The display will switch back after 3 seconds.
Setting Time & Date
Time and date must be set while the unit is in standby mode.
-
Press and hold the Clock Set button for 2 seconds to enter the clock setting mode.
The year starts flashing. Select the current year using the buttons and . -
Press the Clock Set button again. The month starts flashing. Select the current month using the buttons and .
-
Press the Clock Set button again. The day starts flashing. Select the current day using the buttons and .
-
Press the Clock Set button again. The hour format starts flashing. Select the desired hour format (24h or 12h) using the buttons and .
-
Press the Clock Set button again. The hour starts flashing. Select the current hour using the buttons and .
-
Press the Clock Set button again. The minute starts flashing. Select the current minute using the buttons and .
-
Press the Clock Set button again. Time and date are now set and the time is being displayed.
An alarm can only be set while the unit is in standby mode.
This unit enables you to set 2 separate alarms. You can select to wake to CD,
USB, radio or buzzer.
- While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold for 2 seconds the AL1 ( or AL2) button on the unit. The hour will start flashing. Set the desired hour by pressing the or buttons.
- Press the AL1 (or AL2) button again. The minutes will start flashing. Set the desired minutes by pressing the or buttons.
- Press the AL1 (or AL2) button again. The alarm interval will start flashing. By pressing the or buttons select between the following options:
4. Press the AL1 (or AL2 ) button again. The alarm mode will be flashing.
Select the
desired mode (CD, USB, TUNER or BUZZ) by pressing the or buttons.
5. Press the AL1 (or AL2) button again. The alarm volume will start flashing.
Set the desired volume by pressing the or buttons. Once the alarm is activated
it will slowly increase to the set volume.
6. Press the AL1 (or AL2) button again to confirm your settings. The alarm is
now set and will sound at the set time. The AL1 (or AL2) symbol will be shown
in the display.
Activating/Deactivating an Alarm
- To deactivate or reactivate a set alarm, press the AL1 (or AL2) button repeatedly while the unit is in standby mode. “SET ON” means the alarm is active. “SET OFF” means the alarm is not active and will not ring. Stopping an Active Alarm
- When the alarm is sounding, press the Power button to turn it off. The alarm will come on again on the next day at the set time (depending on the set interval). Snooze
The snooze function allows you to delay an active alarm for 9 minutes. To do so, press the Sleep button once while the alarm is active. The alarm will stop and come on again after 9 minutes. While the snooze function is active the clock is flashing. To cancel this function, press the Sleep button once again.
Countdown Timer
The unit has a countdown timer which is convenient for cooking and baking
where timing is necessary:

While the unit is in standby mode press the Timer button on the unit or press and hold for 2 seconds the
Timer button on the remote control to enter the timer setting. -
Select a desired time from 0 – 180 minutes using the and buttons (press and hold the resp. button for faster setting).

Once you have reached the desired time, press the Timer button again to start the countdown timer.
-
The display will switch back to clock display while a timer symbol will be shown in the display. Once the countdown is finished a buzzer will sound for approximately 1 minute. To manually stop the countdown buzzer, press the Timer button once.
Notes:
- To check how much time is left on the countdown, briefly press the Timer button.
- To cancel or change the countdown timer, briefly press the Timer button to show the remaining time and press the button once again. You can now change the time using the and buttons. Set “0” to cancel the timer.
Sleep Timer
The sleep function enables you to set a timer after which the unit will turn
itself into standby mode automatically.
- While in any playback mode, press the Sleep button on the unit or remote control repeatedly to set the desired time.
- You can select between 90, 60, 30 or 15 minutes. “zZ” will be shown in the display.
- To check how much time is left on the set timer, press the Sleep button once.
- To cancel the sleep function, press the Sleep button repeatedly until “OFF” appears in the display.
The “zZ” symbol will disappear from the display.
Radio
- Switch the unit on as described previously.
- Select the radio mode by pressing the Source button repeatedly in case the unit is not already in radio mode. The frequency will be shown in the display.
- Select a desired radio station by pressing the or button repeatedly.
- To automatically search for the next available radio station, press and hold for 2 seconds the or button.
Note: For a better reception completely unroll the FM wire antenna.
Manually Store Radio Stations
This unit enables you to store up to 20 radio stations:
- Tune to a radio station which you would like to store.
- Press the Prog button. The presets will start flashing (e.g. “P 01”).
- Select a desired preset place from P 01 – P 20 on which you want to store the current frequency by pressing the – Album/Preset + buttons.
- Press the Prog button again to confirm your setting.
- Repeat steps 1 – 4 to store up to 20 frequencies.
- To recall a stored frequency, press the – Album/Preset + buttons until you reach the desired preset.
Automatically Store Radio Stations
Rather than manually storing stations, you can also let the unit automatically
store found stations:

While in radio mode press and hold for 2 seconds the Prog button.
-
“AUTO” will be shown in the display and the unit will consecutively store found stations (up to 20 stations).
Once finished, the unit will play the station which was first available. -
To recall a stored frequency, press the – Album/Preset + buttons until you reach the desired preset.
CD Player
Playing Discs
- Switch the unit on and select the CD mode by pressing the Source button repeatedly.
- Open the CD drawer by pressing the Open/Close button on the unit. Insert a disc with the printed side facing up.
- Close the CD drawer. The CD is being read and the total number of tracks will then be shown in the display.
- Playback starts automatically with the first track.
- To temporarily stop the playback (pause), press the Play/Pause button once. Press the button again to resume playback.
- To stop playback, press the Stop button.
Fast Forward / Fast Rewind & Skipping Tracks
- To jump to the beginning of the currently playing track, press the button once. Press it a second time to skip to the previous track.
- To skip to the next track, press the button once.
- To fast forward the currently playing track, press and hold the button. Once you reach the desired section of the track, release the button to resume normal playback.
- To fast rewind the currently playing track, press and hold the button. Once you reach the desired section of the track, release the button to resume normal playback.
Repeat / Random Modes
At any time during playback press the Repeat/Random button on the unit
repeatedly to select between
- Repeat Track – the current track will be repeated, the display will show .
- Repeat Album (if the CD or USB contains albums) – the current album will be repeated, the display will show Alb.
- Repeat All – All tracks on the CD or USB will be repeated, the display will show All.
- Random Playback – All tracks will be played in random order, the display will show .
Notes:
- For ease of use the Random and Repeat features have their own buttons on the remote control.
- To disable the Random and Repeat function, please the according buttons repeatedly, until all Repeat/Random symbols disappear from the display.
Programming Track Order
You can store up to 20 tracks in a desired sequence.

While in CD stop mode, press the Prog button. “P 01” and “Prog” will be shown in the display.
-
Using the / buttons, select the track to be played first in the sequence.
If the disc contains several albums, select the album first using the – Album/Preset + buttons, followed by the track. -
Press the Prog button again. “P 02” will be shown in the display.
-
Repeat the steps 2 – 3 to select up to 20 tracks for your sequence.
5. Press the Play/Pause button to start the playback of your sequence. -
To stop playback, press the Stop button. To delete your sequence press this button a second time.
ID3-Tags
When the files on the inserted disc are equipped with ID3-Tags (artist, track
and album names) you can display them by repeatedly pressing the Disp button.
USB
Playing MP3 files from USB
- Switch the unit on and select the USB mode by pressing the Source button repeatedly.
- Insert a USB stick into the USB port on the unit.
- The USB is being read and the total number of albums and tracks will then be shown in the display.
- Playback starts automatically with the first track.
- To temporarily stop the playback (pause), press the Play/Pause button once. Press the button again to resume playback.
- To stop playback, press the Stop button.
Playback modes
Skipping, fast forwarding and fast rewinding tracks, repeat modes and random
function as well as ID3 tag display in USB mode are the same as for MP3-CD
playback. Please see the previous chapter for the instructions.
Charging Function
You can charge a mobile phone or similar device through the unit’s USB port by
simply connecting the device to the USB port.
Notes:
- A USB device must always be connected directly to the USB port of this product. The use of a USB extension cord is not supported by this product. The USB port of this product cannot communicate with a computer directly.
- The reading time for a USB drive varies depending on the speed of the memory device and the number of songs and folders. In some cases the reading time may be as long as 60 seconds.
- Always switch off the unit before removing a USB flash drive to prevent damage to your USB device. The manufacturer is not responsible for the loss or damage of data.
- Due to numerous methods of compression it could be that some files or USB flash drives cannot be played.
AUX Input
You can connect the audio output of an external device such as an MP3 player to this unit to listen to the sound of that device through the amplifier of this music system.
- To connect the external device please use a standard stereo audio cable (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm plugs) (not included) to connect the headphone out or audio line out of the external device to the AUX input socket of this unit.
- Turn on the unit and select AUX mode by pressing the Source button.
- Switch the external device (e.g. MP3 player) on.
- Start playback of the external device and adjust the volume control of the main unit to the desired level.
- Remember to switch off the unit when you are finished using the external device.
Headphone Connector
A headphone jack is located at front of the unit. When the unit is powered on
and playing music, you can connect the earphones (not included) to the
headphone jack for your private listening. Mind the safety information from
page 16 on.
With headphones connected the unit’s speakers are disabled. To listen via the
speakers again, disconnect the headphones.
