This technical manual is universal and can be used with most AVISON navigation systems. Please note that the images do not always match. It is important to read the steps carefully. Also, check the page where the most frequently asked questions are answered. If in doubt, please contact us by email.
Important Notice
Thank you for your purchase, and good luck with the installation. We have
compiled this manual without any possible errors. Not all images may match in
reality. This will not make any difference to the correct operation of the
device.
Here are some tips for you!
-
Look on youtube for videos showing how to disassemble a car radio. For example, you can search for:
“Volkswagen Golf 6 Radio removal” You will then come across lots of videos that can help you install the new car radio. -
We made a video at the time of an installation on a Seat vehicle. You can also use this video for a Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, BMW, etc. This video will help you understand how the installation is done. Please note that not every vehicle is the same, but the way a car radio is installed is in most cases the same, so really watch this video. This is the link to the video: www.avison.eu/help/video

Do not immediately assume that the car radio is defective because it does not turn on. All car radios we sell are tested for hours after production. So the chance that the car radio arrives at you defective is very minimal. The manual clearly explains what you can do if the car radio turns on, which is always due to a wrong connection. We notice that especially car garages do not read the manual because they assume that they know. But they forget that our car radios are much more extensive than what they generally install.
-
It is not that you have to connect all the cables you get, because our car radios are very extensive, you also get cables that you may need if you want to connect additional accessories. Think of a sound amplifier, a camera, an extra screen for the kids in the back, etc.
-
If the car radio does not fit your Dashboard, you may need a different dashboard panel even though the description said it would. This is usually the case with Skoda. Please check the panel website and look for the one that most closely matches your vehicle. You may also send us an email with a picture of your Dashboard. We will then recommend the right panel.
-
Never just send a package back without registering it and getting a confirmation from us. The chance that it arrives at the wrong return address is high; therefore, the return process will take much longer, and in some cases, the package will be lost.

Best of luck to you ☺
Step 1
Disassemble the current car radio, as mentioned earlier, you can watch videos
on youtube to see how this is done. You can see below that we use a
disassembly tool. This is made of hard plastic and not metal. This ensures
that the Dashboard cannot be damaged.
Step 2
You will come across a white Fakra plugin in almost all vehicles. See photo
number 1. This plug is for the FM antenna, and it will not always be in the
form of a double plug. Sometimes it will be 2 separate white plugs, and
sometimes you will only have 1 white plug. You can connect an antenna
amplifier from us to this. This will improve the FM reception. An antenna
amplifier from us has 2 different fakra plugs. It is not necessary to connect
both plugs. Please note that an adapter cable is supplied with the car radio.
The blue plugin photo number 2 is for a GPS antenna. You don’t need to connect
this because we will give you a new GPS antenna, which works better.
Step 3
Our car radios are always delivered with all necessary cables. In some cases,
you will need an adapter cable. This occurs in vehicles from 2014 and is
mentioned in the product’s description. Check as below in the picture if the
plug of the car and the plug of our car radio fit together. Please note that
you will only know if it matches if you actually try to plug the plugs
together. If it fits, it is good. Don’t forget to loosen the plug handle
first. Otherwise, it can jam, and then it won’t fit.
Step 4
If the car radio came with a canbus interface, you need to connect it. This
will ensure that the steering wheel controls work and that other vehicle
functions are taken over. It will also ensure that the car radio
automatically turns on and off with the ignition. This will prevent your
battery from running down.
Note that some car radios also have a small white plug with 2 gray wires, this plug you connect to the back of the car radio.
Step 5
If the car radio wiring harness has a small plug with red and orange wire, it
should be unplugged. This plug is made to test the car radio if it does not
turn on. On older vehicles where the software has not been updated, sometimes
the canbus will not work. If the canbus is not working, the car radio will not
turn on. By reconnecting this plug, you can determine if the car radio is
working when it gets constant power. Suppose that the head unit only works
when these plugs are connected together, then you have to make a slight
adjustment, which is necessary to prevent the battery from dying. See
www.avison.eu/helpdesk/001
Step 6
The USB cables that come with the car can be connected and placed where you
can easily reach them. We bring out the USB port through the Dashboard, just
below the glove box in the picture below. This gives you easy access to
connect to a USB device. You can also place the USB port in the glove box.
Step 7
You always get a GPS antenna included. This GPS antenna will work best when
placed on the Dashboard or windshield. But our experience is that it also
works in the Dashboard in most vehicles. Usually, there is an application
installed on the car radio. With this, you can test the GPS signal. The
reception is good if the application shows at least 2 green bars.
Step 8
If the box contains an additional microphone, you will also find an adapter
cable to connect it. The plugin microphone cannot be connected directly to the
car radio. You will find in the box a set of cables where the microphone plug
fits. See the photo below.
Step 9
If you have a car radio with a CD player, don’t forget to undo the safety
screws. This is usually indicated by a yellow or red label on the car radio.
As shown below in the photo.
Step 10
Test out the car radio first before screwing it all the way in. If the car
radio turns on and off automatically, it is good. You do not need to connect
the other cables you received. On the cable is also mentioned what it can be
used for. On the next page are complaints and frequently asked questions.
Please read those as well ☺
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Where can I find a manual for the car radio settings?
We have decided to publish the instructions for setting up the car radio online. We can update it more easily when new updates are made. Please visit www.avison.eu/helpdesk -
There is no sound coming from the car radio. What am I doing wrong?
On vehicles with a Dynaudio sound system, it is sometimes necessary to disconnect the vehicle battery. Try this and wait 20 minutes. This will reset the settings of your sound amplifier. Does this not work? Check that the colored wires of the car radio plug are not loose. -
No CD fits in the car radio, what can I do?
Check that you did loosen the safety screws. This was mentioned in step 9. -
I bought a car stereo with Carplay support, but it doesn’t work?
If you have a head unit with wireless Carplay support, pair it via Bluetooth. If you have a head unit with wired carplay support, try both USB cables from the head unit, it will only work on 1 USB connection. -
What can I do if the Android Auto option does not work?
This should work if the head unit was sold with the Android Auto option. First, try both USB cables from the head unit, and install the latest updates on your smartphone. See if USB debugging on your smartphone. -
I have connected a rearview camera, but I am not getting a picture?
Please note that you tap the 12V power for the camera via the REVERSE wire of the car radio. If you tap the 12V voltage through the rear lights, you need some kind of filter, and we do not recommend that because the image quality can be reduced. -
My steering wheel controls are not working. What can I do?
Check if the wiring harness of the car radio has a white plug with 2 gray wires, in which case you should also connect this plug to the back of the car radio. -
My car radio does not remember its memory?
The yellow (thick) wire from the car radio should be constant at 12V. Sometimes the mechanics cut this wire because they think it can cause a dead battery. While they should cut the thin yellow wire. And this is only necessary on vehicles older than 2009.
