Getting started

  • Place the base station and the transmitter on a table at a distance of about 1.5 meters from each other.

  • Remove the protective film from the base station display
    5.1 Starting the devices

  • Temperature-humidity transmitter: Open the battery compartment (Fig.4-D) of the temperature-humidity transmitter and insert two new AA 1.5 V batteries. Make sure the polarities are correct. Close the battery cover again.

  • Base station: Connect the supplied power adapter to the mains and then to the base station (Fig.3-D). The device will alert you with a beep and all segments will be displayed for a short moment.

  • After a few seconds, the station greets you with HALLO (hello) and displays the first item of the settings menu.

  • If you want to use the station generally/for the time being without an online connection, you can now make all settings and adjustments manually (see comprehensive description at point 6.1, the following point 5.2 can then be skipped).

  • If you prefer to connect the station to the Internet straightaway, most of the settings will be made automatically. In this case, we recommend ignoring the settings menu for now (the device automatically exits the setting menu if no button is pressed for 10 seconds).

  • The measured values of the transmitter are received by the base station and shown in the display within the first 10 minutes.

Connect the station to the Internet

  • Download the free TFA VIEW App from the “Apple App Store” or “Google Play Store”.
  • After you have created an account and started the app, select „Devices“ in the menu. There you can add, remove or sort devices on the App. You can add devices with the „Add device“ button in the iOS app or the blue „+“ button in the Android app.
  • Now follow the instructions and steps exactly as given by the app.

Legal information:
Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC. App Store and the Apple logo are trademarks of Apple Inc.

CAUTION:

  • During the connection process, you will be instructed to switch to the smartphone/tablet settings and briefly connect directly to the station in order to transfer the previously collected network data. Please do not close the app when doing this! Only put the app in the background and put it back in the foreground after the Wi-Fi connection with the station.
  • The station only operates via 2,4GHz. Operation with a Wi-Fi network in dual-band mode (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz simultaneously) is also possible. However, if there are any problems during the connection process, it is recommended to adjust the settings of the Wi-Fi network and temporarily use only 2.4GHz during the integration process.
  • After successfully finishing all the steps regarding the online connection in the app, it will only take a few minutes until the correct time and date are set fully automatically on your VIEW station and professional weather data is received.
  • The readings from your VIEW station will be displayed in the app after a few minutes. Transmitters that were already connected to the VIEW station before the Wi-Fi connection will be suggested as additional devices in the notification area of the app after a few minutes, in order to add them in the app as well.
  • If a transmitter is added subsequently (or was not automatically detected in the course of the connection process), select “Devices” in device management on the app menu. Here you can also scan and add individual transmitters. These are received by the VIEW station and forwarded to the server/app.
  • Further information about the Wi-Fi connection can be found in the user manual under point 6.6.

Back-up battery

  • The 3x AA 1,5V batteries will operate as a backup power source in case of power failure or change of location. In pure battery operation, a short-term display of the local measured values and activation of the display illumination (10 sec.) is possible by pressing any key.
  • For permanent display illumination and Wi-Fi function, use the supplied power adapter.
  • Open the battery compartment, insert 3 new batteries AA 1.5 V, polarity as illustrated and close the battery compartment again.

  • Measured values have increased by >1°C or >3% points rH

  • Measured values have decreased by >1°C or >3% points rH

  • This station does not have the option of displaying additional transmitters directly on the base station. Additional compatible transmitters can be received in the background and forwarded to the server when the online connection is active.
IMPORTANT: These additional transmitters can only be used via the app.

  • If several temperature-humidity transmitters are connected, press the “SENSOR” button (Fig.2-C) to identify the transmitter in this display area (see point 6.8). You can also remove the transmitter from this display area or start a manual search.

With online connection

  • No additional function or change

Display area: maximum and minimum temperature (Fig.1-E)
Standard function (without online connection) / OUTDOOR RECORDS

  • On the normal display, the highest measured temperature (HI) and the lowest measured temperature (LO) of the temperature-humidity transmitter for the current day are shown here. The HI/LO values are continuously updated and automatically reset at midnight.

With online connection / FORECAST

  • When forecast values are received for this display area while the online connection is active, a small radio symbol is permanently displayed next to FORECAST (on the left).
  • The temperature values displayed are the expected highest temperature (HI) and the expected lowest temperature (LO) for the current day.
  • The forecast refers to the location (region/zip code) that was saved during the installation of the device via the app.

Display area: weather symbol „FORECAST“ (Fig.1-A)
Standard function (without online connection) / FORECAST

  • On the normal display, a symbol for the coming weather based on the changes in atmospheric pressure measured by the base station is shown here.
  • There are 6 different weather symbols:

TFA 35.8000.01 View Meteo WLAN Radio Weather
Station-20The weather forecast covers a range of 12 hours and indicates only a general weather trend. For example, if the current weather is cloudy and the rain symbol is displayed, it does not mean the product is faulty because it is not raining. It simply means that the atmospheric pressure has dropped and the weather is expected to get worse but not necessarily rain.

  • The landscape image changes with the seasons. (1. Spring | 2. Summer | 3. Autumn | 4. Winter)

  • The sun symbol is also displayed at night if the atmospheric pressure develops positively.

With online connection / FORECAST

  • When forecast values are received for this display area while the online connection is active, a small radio symbol is permanently displayed next to FORECAST (on the right).
  • The weather symbol displayed is then a forecast for the next 12 hours prepared by professional meteorologists.
  • There are 12 different weather symbols:

Positioning

Positioning and mounting of the base station and the transmitter

  • With the foldable stand (Fig.3-B) at the back, the base station can be placed onto any flat surface.

  • The base station can be mounted at a chosen location with the mounting holes (Fig.3-A) found at the back of the device.

  • Make sure to avoid the vicinity of any source of interference such as computer screens, TV sets or solid metal objects.

  • Do not use the base station in the vicinity of radiators, other sources of heat or in direct sunlight.

  • The outdoor transmitter (Fig.4) can be placed onto any flat surface or wall mounted at a chosen location with the mounting hole (Fig.4-B) found at the back of the device. When placed outdoors, choose a shady and dry place for the transmitter. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measurement and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.

  • Once the desired location is chosen, check whether the transmission from the transmitter to the base station is possible (transmission range of up to 100 m in open areas). Within solid walls, especially ones with metal parts, the transmission range can be reduced considerably.

  • If necessary, choose another position for the outdoor transmitter and/or base station.

  • Make sure that the base station has sufficient reception of the Wi-Fi signal at the installation location.
    Care and maintenance

  • Clean the devices with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.

  • Remove the batteries and unplug the power adapter of the base station if the device will not be used for a long period of time.

  • Store the devices in a dry place.
