SolidGoldFX EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo

What is the EM-III?

Thank you for purchasing the EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo. We hope you have as much fun playing it as we did design and building this evolution of our Electroman. At your feet (or fingers) you have a multi-head echo with the ability to add a signal an octave lower to the primary head. This results in dancing, rhythmic delays with body and gravitas. Our slow modulation adds a lush, wet chorus with eerie tension and beautiful dissonance. The color knob allows you to dial in warm, murky repeats or suck out the lows for crisp, bright echoes. The EM-III also brings interactive warp and glitch features which either increase the repeats until self-oscillation, creating a swelling wall of sound or replicate the sound of a tape motor on the fritz and a reel snapping. The EM-III is designed to inspire and evoke emotion. It can sound as pretty and cheerful or as dark and macabre as you wish. Tune-up, plugin and let yourself go in the EM-III experience.

What do the knobs do?

Time: Changes the delay time from a double-tracking-Esque 70 milliseconds to a full length second with modulation. Repeat: At zero, you’ll find the humblest of all delays: the slapback. At full-blast, the repeats will run away and overtake your signal. Level: Changes the amount of delay signal from nothing at all to highly involved. Flutter: Controls the modulation. This knob has a center detent which turns off the modulation feature. There are 2 preset modulation speeds. As you turn the knob to the left, you increase the depth of the slow modulation. As you turn to the right, you increase the depth of the fast modulation. Color: Controls the filtering of the delay signal. This knob has a center detent which bypasses the filter feature. As you turn the knob to the left, you darken the delay, remov-ing highs. As you turn to the right, you brighten the delay, removing lows. The Octave is not affected by the color knob.

What about dip switches and power?

Internal Dip Switch: These 2 switches set the default bypass and glitch states when the EM-III powers up. These features can also be changed using the footswitches and HEADS/OCTAVE switch.
Dip 1: This switch sets the direction of the Glitch function. Set to ON, the Glitch ramps down, slowing the delay. Set off, it ramps up, speeding up the delay. DIP 2: This switch sets the bypass. Set ON, the EM-III is in trails mode with buffered bypass. When bypassed, the delayed signal will fade gradually. When set OFF, the EM-III is in true bypass mode. When bypassed, the delays will cut immediately. 9VDC: The EM-III requires a negative ground, 9V DC power supply with a 2.1mm barrel plug, and a negative center. The EM-III draws approximately 39mA of current.
IMPORTANT : USE OF AN IMPROPER POWER SUPPLY WILL VOID WARRANTY
