ELVITA ELECTRIC KETTLE
Read through this user manual carefully before using the electric kettle.
Save the manual for later reference, to avoid incorrect use or injury.
In this manual, the electric kettle will also be referred to as “the unit”.
IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
-
Keep the electric kettle out of reach of children. Make sure that the electric kettle is kept somewhere where children cannot play with it. Make sure also that the power cord does not hang over the edge of the worktop (children may be able to reach it and pull the kettle onto themselves).
-
Before connecting the electric kettle to the power supply, check that the mains voltage matches the voltage rating of the kettle. If not, contact your dealer immediately (do not use the kettle).
-
Make sure all switches are in the OFF position before unplugging the kettle from the wall socket.
-
Do not use the unit if the power cord or plug are damaged, if the unit has been damaged or does not work correctly. Take the unit to the nearest authorised repairer to be checked, repaired or adjusted.
-
Do not place the unit near or on a gas stove, electric hob or in a hot oven/microwave oven.
-
Stand the electric kettle on a stable, level surface.
-
The kettle is only intended for indoor domestic use.
Do not store the kettle outdoors. -
Do not plug this unit into a wall socket in a bathroom, near a dishwasher or near a damp area/wet surface.
-
Do not immerse the power cord, plug or the electric kettle in water or any other liquid (risk of fire, electric shock and injury).
-
Make sure that the outside, electrical connections and base of the kettle are clean and dry.
-
Do not touch hot surfaces (particularly stainless steel surfaces)! Lift the kettle by the handle (never in any other way).
-
Remove the plug from the wall socket when not using the kettle or before cleaning it. Wait until the kettle cools down before cleaning it.
-
Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer (use of any other accessories may result in fire, electrical shock or injury).
-
The kettle may only be used together with the base supplied with it.
• Do not fill the kettle when it is standing on the base. -
Do not fill the kettle above the MAX indicator.
-
Make sure the power cord does not hang over the edge of a table or worktop, or come into contact with hot surfaces.
-
Only use the unit for its intended purpose.
-
Never open the lid while boiling water (you may scald yourself).
Do not overfill the kettle.
If you do, there is a risk of being sprayed by boiling water.
PRODUCT-SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Boiling water can scald.
- Never force the button into the ON position and never carry out any modifications designed to hold it in the ON position by default. If you do, steam may escape around the lid, leading to injury or damage to the automatic switch-off mechanism.
Make sure the kettle is switched off before removing it from its base.
- Make sure the power cord does not come into contact with the kettle’s metal surfaces (these become very hot when water is being boiled).
- Only use the kettle for its intended purpose (boiling water).
- Be very careful if you must move the unit when there is hot water inside.
Do not stand the kettle base on a metal surface when it is plugged into a wall socket.
- Do not use the unit if the jug, base, power cord or plug are damaged. A damaged unit may only be repaired by the manufacturer or an authorised dealer.
- Do not attempt to connect other units to the cordless base or to modify the plug (the conductive pins are protected by interlocked covers when the kettle is removed from the base).
- Do not dismantle the kettle or base (risk of fire and electric shock).
- The unit may not be serviced by the user (all repairs must be performed by authorised service personnel).
- Do not stand the kettle base on a metal surface when it is plugged into a wall socket.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE, ELECTRIC KETTLE
Preparations before use: Stand the kettle base on a stable kitchen worktop and
plug it into a wall socket (make sure the mains voltage matches the kettle’s
voltage rating). Fill the kettle with water (do not fill above the MAX mark).
Once the kettle is connected to a power supply, the LEDs come on and the
buzzer emits a warning sound. Once the LEDs go out, the kettle is in standby
mode. If the kettle is not used within three minutes, the water level
indicator also goes out.
Press one of the temperature buttons with the kettle in standby mode to set
the desired temperature. Press START/STOP to start boiling water (the kettle
switches off once it reaches the set temperature).
If you press START/STOP in standby, the kettle will immediately start boiling
water.
Press the KEEP WARM button in standby mode to set the kettle’s keep warm
function. When the kettle is in keep warm mode, press START/STOP to heat up
the water. Once
the water temperature reaches the set temperature, the kettle enters keep warm
mode (automatically disabled after 30 minutes).
If the kettle is already running, press one of the other temperature buttons
to set the desired temperature. Press the KEEP WARM button to start or switch
off the keep warm function. Press the START/STOP button to interrupt whatever
function is enabled.
The keep warm function remains active for 30 minutes (after which the kettle
will automatically enter standby mode).
When the kettle is set to keep warm mode, the heating element switches on/off
to maintain the water temperature. When the kettle starts heating the water,
the LED at the bottom of the jug comes on. When heating is interrupted, the
LED goes out.
LED
When the water temperature is below 40°C, the LED shows GREEN.
When the water temperature is between 40°C and 70°C, the green LED turns
increasingly blue in colour as the temperature increases. When the water
temperature reaches 70°C, the LED shows BLUE.
When the water temperature is between 70°C and 100°C, the blue LED turns
increasingly red in colour as the temperature increases. When the water
temperature is above 98°C, the LED shows RED.
DRY BOILING PROTECTION
The kettle is equipped with protection against dry boiling. If the kettle
starts heating up at too low a water level, it switches off (this prevents
damage to the heating
element). The LED flashes and the unit emits a signal. Wait until the kettle
cools down before removing it from its base. Add the correct amount of water,
replace the kettle on the base and switch it on again.
REMOVING THE LIMESCALE FILTER
The kettle has a limescale filter that ensures the water is always clean. Take
hold of the filter and lift it up to remove it. Rinse the filter under warm
water and clean it with a brush. Refit the filter once clean (it should click
into position).
CLEANING
- Wait until the kettle cools down before cleaning it.
- Switch off the unit and unplug it from the wall socket before you start cleaning.
- Do not immerse the base, power cord or jug in water or similar liquid, or wash them in a dishwasher.
- Clean the base and jug with a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning products, steel wool, metal items, warm cleaning products or disinfectants (these may scratch the unit).
- Before using it, make sure that the unit is completely dry on the outside.
PRODUCT DISPOSAL
According to law, electrical and electronic devices must be disposed of at
